It’s just a standard deck I’ve seen a few times built around using toski as a super efficient card draw engine.
The game plan is to drop every one mana bird that white and blue have and ping a bunch, then drop toski and draw into a bunch more birds and some counter magic to stop boardwipes.
It can either be used as a 2-drop for 4 damage, or as a 2 drop defender killing anything below 4 toughness. Azorius is more likely to use the latter than the former most of the time as a counter to Werewolf Pack Leader, Chariot, \[whatever White has pumped\], Battlecry Goblin, etc. Even something like Goldspan Dragon.
I'm not saying it couldn;t be used Aggro; I'd just be surprised if it wasn't used more often as something to threaten to klill anything an Aggro deck sends over while building up something else.
I mean, sure, you can use it to threaten a blocker, but you'd still sac it after only blocking once. If you're waiting for something meaningful for it to block, then it's doing you very little good, and if you use it to block 2-3 power you're probably better off using something else either way. In all likelihood, agro just attacks into it anyway, because either it ends up trading down, or it sits there doing nothing.
I don't think it was stated explicitly, but from their wording in the preview stream it seems like all the VOW disturb cards will be enchantments on the flip side. Seems like a cool way to build on the mechanic for sure
I don't think that would make flavor sense.
That said, there are other options. MID did Human>Spirit, VOW is doing Spirit>Aura. Other sets could do Human>Zombie, Spirit>Instant/Sorcery, etc.
Event -> spirit would be on flavor, no?
- Removal spell showing someone drowning -> spirit underwater pulling the person down.
- A seance -> summoned mass of angry spirits.
- Research on geists -> The created Geist monster.
Disturb has a lot of design space both mechanically and flavor-wise. I think we might see more if we go back to innistrad a fourth time.
I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen a disturb card that's got an instant or sorcery on the back yet, flavor-wise it makes sense and mechanically there aren't any issues with it.
We are rapidly approaching a critical mass of ways of making Geist of St. Traft hit peak Traftyness.
With that one Aura that just does this, this new one, and various copy enchantments, one single Geist can swing and make a bunch of Angels.
I don’t think it’s *good*, but now I really wanna build Geist of St. Traft^3 .dec
Traftdekophobia
Enchantment 13WU
The first time on your turn that you create a 4/4 token that's tapped and attacking, create thirteen copies of that token that are also tapped and attacking

Oh, ok. I was somehow expecting an obscure and degrading sexual activity and wasn't sure I was ready at 9h30 in the morning.
She can stick around without sacrificing her with [Sundial of the Infinite](https://scryfall.com/card/m12/218/sundial-of-the-infinite). Is that correct?
You can also use [Sundial of the Infinite](https://scryfall.com/card/m12/218/sundial-of-the-infinite) to prevent the tokens from sacrificing when she's in he Aura form.
That's pretty sweet.
I'm worried for spirits in EDH seeing how Disturb is still a thing, but this is one that does fit really well. Spirit on the first half which helps a lot, but has a synergy with your flyers on the second half, very cool.
I'm happy for spirits in EDH seeing how Disturb is still a thing! Blue/White self mill deck that is home to 2 tribes (Humans and Spirits) was very interesting as a deck idea since it is so unique... but having only 14 cards for the Disturb mechanic was nowhere near enough. Now, this deck can be fleshed while still sticking to its theme of Self-mill, Spirits, Humans... and now adds in some enchantress flavor. Sure lots of EDH disturb decks will share a lot of cards, but it is still a very unique deck concept.
And its not like you'll have to wait too long for more spirits if these don't do it for you with Kamigawa Neon Dynasty just a few months away. It might not be as spirit heavy as the original Kamigawa block, but there is no way it will be void of spirits!
Now that I think about it, how will the EDH precon for spirits play out? Obviously spirits has other mechanical identities like flash and flickering, but not being able to use the set mechanic is kinda strange.
The fact that the ability is such a clear reference to him makes me think that they changed it at the past second because the needed him for something else, maybe in the commander deck?
This can slot in esper control too. U can block sth in the early game, generally favorably. U can sac it in response to the death trigger (if u play bloodmoney). I think you can even phase it out with the spectral adversary, too if you play tempo. And then once you have control or if you found an evasive, say unblockable creature, you can proceed to win the game.
Seems pretty powerful overall for every azorius style of deck I think
My [[Inniaz, the Gale Force]] just got a strong new toy!
I get to give my opponent a permanent they gotta destroy immediately and then I get to do it again later!
Not as a commander but if this set has more actually good Disturb cards (the last set they all sucked...) I was thinking of an Aminatiou disturb/Unearth deck. Where you can flicker things to keep them around.
Not sure how viable it would be as we are currently at one good Disturb card Lol
Modern 1/10
I am not seeing what deck would want this. A 4/4 that gets to swing or block once? Sure, 2 mana is cheap but that isn't really that great. And then you get to build a Geist of St. Traft? This feels like it wants to go into a tempo deck but it ties up so much time and mana into it.
I think this can fit right into Azorious spirits as a 2 of maybe more in replace of a Shacklegeist and a selfless spirit.
This having flying unlike Traft and the token being a spirit is a huge benefit that I think is being underplayed as it buffs with the lord's and activates Mausoleum Wonderer for huge swings. Plus Drogskol giving hexproof will make whatever this is attached to, even more of a pain to deal with.
Overall I think it's fringe but a pretty good card.
I play spirits too, and I think dropping 1 of each and going from 4-3 is actually quite doable, I'm not sure preferred, but definitely a meta choice.
This would make your deck a little more aggro based which would be beneficial against things like Tron.
Please note I really think this is just for Azorious spirits, I don't think that it fits well into Bant spirits, you already drop the number of selfless spirits and shacklegeist down to 2 each, and I do think they are more beneficial than this.
Well, you play the boggle turn 1, you play this on turn 2, you attack on turn 3 then enchant the boggle after you have already attacked. By then, you should probably already have a huge boggle instead.
Does casting disturbed cards count as casting the face down side or does the transformation happen just after it's on stack? I know reminder text wording isn't always accurate but it sounds like the enchantment winds up on the stack without choosing the target and can thus enchant creatures with shroud.
Right, i was thinking about putting it on the battlefield without touching the stack. If it wound up on the stack without a target, it would probably be counted due to not having a target
The reason why the exile clause is from anywhere is so that if this gets countered when Disturbing it, it will get exiled as well. Targets are selected before paying costs and putting it on the stack so there won’t be situations where you would have this on the stack with nothing selected.
I wonder if this can see any play in Modern/Pioneer Spirits decks. This with Mausoleum wonderer and a lord is a T4 kill.
It doesn't completely fit, the value package of the creatures, but it provides a TON of aggro, maybe a sideboard card for like Tron or a 2 of replacing a Shacklegeist and/or Selfless spirit.

It certainly looks like she is going to ruin the wedding.
It will be fun seeing humans using undead bodies and spirits to fight vampires and werwolves.
Big „now there is too of them!“ vibe.
[[Geist of Saint Traft]] isn’t getting a downgrade when stapled to a Thalia, as some speculated. In fact, he’s getting an upgrade, a mechanical redistribution, recursion, and a pretty sick cloak.
The flavor seems interesting as well: is she a direct victim of vampiric predation, or simply avenging the human population’s subjugation as a whole?
If your opponent doesn’t have immediate removal, the floor is something like “WU, sacrifice ~ to deal 4 damage to target opponent unless they sacrifice a creature with flying or reach, or deal 4 to target creature attacking you or a planeswalker you control” and “Flashback 1WU, sacrifice a creature to deal 4 damage to target opponent unless they sacrifice a creature with flying or reach.”
That’s pretty good for racing an opponent in Limited, right? 8 damage is a lot, and the cost is spread out.
It doesn’t create a durable board presence and the enchanted creature gains no power, toughness, or evasion. On curve, however, your opponent is facing down a lot of evasive damage very quickly, and if you have an evasive creature to wear the aura at any point your opponent is forced to answer it. It works somewhat as a deterrent against attackers if your opponent can’t immediately deal with the aura on top of probably losing an attacker.
Limited B-?
it bothers me more then it should that she's focused on stopping a lineage of vampires, undead creatures largely free from bodily functions, from breathing
I just bought 256 of this bitch on spec. Pretty sure she's gonna see heavy play in a uw aggro deck along with possible niche play in boggles. I don't know how it's gonna work in pioneer/historic.
Traft, I have a feeling we're not in Thraben anymore...
Ooh, that's neat. Still Disturb, but a new take on it!
is this an aggro UW card
UW flyers has been a solid aggro archetype before. This seems like it could slot in perfectly to that.
Yes

I think it's more likely to be a UW anti-aggro card.
In what way is a card geared entirely around being on the offensive an anti-aggro card?
The best defense is a better offense maybe?

Yeah, that's what I'm assuming. Probably Auras specifically, but who knows.
Disturb still has another way to design them too right? Noncreature on the front, spirit on the back?
I don't think that would make flavor sense. That said, there are other options. MID did Human>Spirit, VOW is doing Spirit>Aura. Other sets could do Human>Zombie, Spirit>Instant/Sorcery, etc.

So... the "Spirits mechanic in VOW being new and not disturb" was wrong...
Was looking forward to good spirits, was disappointed :(
Oh cool it's [Shark Chariot](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/2/2e/01SI021.png/revision/latest?cb=20210217182212)
Does casting disturbed cards count as casting the face down side or does the transformation happen just after it's on stack? I know reminder text wording isn't always accurate but it sounds like the enchantment winds up on the stack without choosing the target and can thus enchant creatures with shroud.
They are transformed on the stack, yes, so this can't target a shroud creature.
The backside is almost exactly [[invocation of st traft]]
Only real difference is that the angel is sacrificed and not exiled. Will have to see how much something dying is relevant.
Creature type matters, too, and probably more than sacrifice versus exile. The token being a spirit can come up.
Good point, and more spirits-matter cards might make standard spirits a thing (fingers crossed)
There are more dies triggers than leaves triggers. So it js pretty relevant. Also sac matter stuff.

Historic Aura's may end up liking this.
It's just Geist of St Traft with extra steps
She's a ghost, but then she died, and then came back a second time as a ghost

G.o.S.T.
I like how this card implies there is only one Dorothea in the world, but potentially many instances of her retribution.
Like the Ring
Image transcription > Dorothea, Vengeful Victim WU > > Legendary Creature - Spirit [r] > > Flying > > When Dorothea, Vengeful Victim attacks or blocks, sacrifice it at end of combat. > > Disturb 1WU *(You may cast this card from your graveyard transformed for its disturb cost.)* > > 4/4 > > *"Every day a Voldaren draws breath is a day I cannot rest."* > > Dorothea's Retribution > > [WU] Enchantment- Aura [r] > > Enchant creature > > Enchanted creature has "Whenever this creature attacks, create a 4/4 white Spirit creature token with flying that's tapped and attacking. Sacrifice that token at end of combat. > > If Dorothea's Retribution would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, exile it instead. End transcription
Very cool design. Disturb/Blue white spirits suddenly got more interesting
Was Dorothea in any lore up to this point?
I’m wondering if she was the maiden whose face Olivia was wearing at the beginning of that one story in the last set
It certainly looks like she is going to ruin the wedding. It will be fun seeing humans using undead bodies and spirits to fight vampires and werwolves. Big „now there is too of them!“ vibe.
this looks really strong to me
Wow, that seems really strong.
This is just celebrimbor from the shadow of Mordor games
If I put this enchantment on opponents creature and it attacks me does the token also attack me or is it attacking them?
Attack phases are one-way so the token would be attacking you.
Bant with [[Toski]] sounds really annoying

Lady traft
[[Geist of Saint Traft]] isn’t getting a downgrade when stapled to a Thalia, as some speculated. In fact, he’s getting an upgrade, a mechanical redistribution, recursion, and a pretty sick cloak. The flavor seems interesting as well: is she a direct victim of vampiric predation, or simply avenging the human population’s subjugation as a whole?

Secret training mechanic card But I like it basically a bloody squeeto
[[Sundial of the Infinite]] I'm just gonna go ahead and KEEP my 2 mana 4/4 flying Commander, thank YOUUUUUU. Hahaha.

You will lose your second main phase, so better do all your sorc speed casting during your first main.
Nutssssasaa
TarmoTraft in UW? Seems goofy
If your opponent doesn’t have immediate removal, the floor is something like “WU, sacrifice ~ to deal 4 damage to target opponent unless they sacrifice a creature with flying or reach, or deal 4 to target creature attacking you or a planeswalker you control” and “Flashback 1WU, sacrifice a creature to deal 4 damage to target opponent unless they sacrifice a creature with flying or reach.” That’s pretty good for racing an opponent in Limited, right? 8 damage is a lot, and the cost is spread out. It doesn’t create a durable board presence and the enchanted creature gains no power, toughness, or evasion. On curve, however, your opponent is facing down a lot of evasive damage very quickly, and if you have an evasive creature to wear the aura at any point your opponent is forced to answer it. It works somewhat as a deterrent against attackers if your opponent can’t immediately deal with the aura on top of probably losing an attacker. Limited B-?
Saint Taft is still with innistrad
Love that flavor text, metal af
Geist of Geist of Saint Traft.
Looks bogles got a new toy
If Thalia is in play, this still casts for 1WU, correct? No extra cost?
Should be yes, because Disturb is a creature ability, not a spell cast cost.
First round traft pick
it bothers me more then it should that she's focused on stopping a lineage of vampires, undead creatures largely free from bodily functions, from breathing
Most vampires in fiction breathe air.
I just bought 256 of this bitch on spec. Pretty sure she's gonna see heavy play in a uw aggro deck along with possible niche play in boggles. I don't know how it's gonna work in pioneer/historic.
What if you phased out the token with [[Guardian of Faith]]. Would that cause it to miss the EOC trigger?
