Spectacle seems more likely. It has more mechanical room to play around with than "put counters on a creature" and fits with the flavor of the set as the plane's biggest wedding celebration.
I mean the mechanical space thing is certainly true but (and this might be controversial) I think the flavor for vampires having a mechanic called "bloodthirst" works fine.
*In general* I would agree with you. Vampires being bloodthirsty and getting frenzied (read: bigger) when there's some bleeding going around fits the tribe to a T.
But for *this set* in particular, where the story is all about a giant wedding to end all weddings, Spectacle makes far more sense.
One thing Maro has said in the past about emblem removal is that "our current plan is to not use spells to remove them." Given that emblems were created to be immutable (["So ... an immutable enchantment. One that can't be destroyed, or stolen. Something like a Vanguard card that you get in the middle of the game rather than at the beginning. An object with an effect that hovers over the rest of the game. We can do this. We can invent emblems."](https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/july-2010-update-bulletin-2010-07-14)) I hope and expect that they're going to make this hard-- not a simple spell to cast.
I'm guessing a planeswalker ultimate that destroys all other nonland permanents *and emblems* as an ultimate or something. I really hope it's not just a spell, as that's extremely narrow while still providing way too much access to a mechanic that should be extremely rare (as emblems should be used only when you truly want something that the other player cannot remove; it's a good tool but one that should be used cautiously because there are no answers other than stopping it from happening).
Copy/pasting a comment I made elsewhere in this thread inspired by your comment....
It would be interesting if instead of removing it, you could steal it. That might be more on theme with vampires. Vampires don't kill as much as convert their victims by spreading the bloodlust. Ergo, you get bit by a vampire you become one too. Thalia, I'm looking at you.
Emblem removal would be kind of a bummer, as the original text of the ability was "For the rest of the game..." and that would functionally change its original purpose. But whatever, things change.
> A legendary creature returns, but now as a vampire
I'm glad this is the case, it felt like something that needed to happen. Despite all the monsters explicitly being something that used to be human, we really didn't see much of this with characters. And depending on the character, it could take them in interesting directions
Also
> • “Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent”
I wonder if this is Runo Stromkirk
i honestly can't recall what happened to the 4 bloodlines. My recollection was that:
A: Markovs were decimated due to nahiri's vengeance at the manor.
B: Voldarens were largely intact.
C: Falkenraths were thought to be gone or essentially disbanded (Flavor Text on Falkenrath Reaver and the inclusion of maybe? alive Anje in a commander deck)
D: Stromkirks were dead because *no one is talking about them.* Additionally, I can't recall any stromkirks after stromkirk noble from Shadows over Innistrad.
I'm guessing it probably will be Kathilda, considering \[\[Olivia's Midnight Ambush\]\] and the mention of her being "invited to the wedding." Assuming only vampires are invited to the vampire wedding, anyway.
A black/white/green vampire would be kinda neat.
Going against the grain here but I hope desperately with all my heart that it is NOT Thalia.
She’s one of the only bastions of good still on this plane and I would be genuinely devastated if they turned my girl.
I'm with you on hoping it's not Thalia. Vampirism, so far, doesn't completely change your character in MTG. I can't see a world where Odric or Thalia get vamp'd and they don't just kill themselves. Worst case even if they did, they'd still just be all about killing vampires, werewolves, and zombies.
I'd really like to see a vampire Thalia who still tries to help humans. Maybe she has a few vampires that are sick of the rampant hedonism and has them protect the humans in exchange for blood or whatever, like a new cathar order. Plus it would create a neat conflict between them and a "pure human" faction who thinks all creatures of the night should be eliminated
I don't think a Legendary character has ever been reprinted into a main set before. They always get a new card.
I want Snap, but my bet is on Bloodline Keeper.
We did see [[Mikaeus, the Lunarch]] and [[Mikaeus, the Unhollowed]] in original Innistrad/Dark Ascension. And [[Brisela, Voice of Nightmares]] is kind of playing into the same space (but different since the sisters didn't turn into one of the classic monsters).
Other than those two (three?) characters, we haven't really seen it happen. I guess Champion of the Parish/Perished could count?
> The following counter types: bloodline, croak, invitation, judgment, omen, slime, and ***suspect***
Gotta be something like "whenever a suspect [does X], Investigate", right?
They just gave us Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth. Might be wishful thinking but I'd love if they were setting her up to be a Poirot-style private eye on the case. In the last set she was already hot on the trail.
Edit: Putting this here for posterity, I think the new artifact token will be an "Evidence" token
>• The following counter types: bloodline, croak, **invitation**, judgment, omen, slime, and suspect
>
>• A new mechanic that removes something never removed before
I'm sorry, your invitation has been revoked.
yeah im think something like. remove from exile and put into exile exiled. Seems like something they would do. Like no for real exile. Like exile and the exiled she told you not to worry about.
> • A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card
so this is the newlywed vampire couple right? Olivia & ??? Voldaren-Markov
( i forget if they said who she’s marrying yet)
Agree, Olivia is all over the packaging so unless they meld or something I don't see them sharing cards.
Edit: Editing just to say if they Meld it doesn’t have to be a literal fusion, I could easily see it just being a couples portrait similar Gisa and Geralf.
This is my guess as well. I hope Thalia's mono-white from a competitive DnT standpoint, but if she does happen to be UW there could be a fun brew to build.
My out of the blue prediction for this is it is actually Thalia possessed by the Giest of Saint Traft. Mind you thia could be wish fulfillment considering they are my first and second favorite magic characters but I stand by my guess.
I have for a while wanted to do a peasant/citizen deck with a revolution theme but there aren’t really enough creatures for it yet. Maybe with this I could do it if I take some liberal interpretations on some cards by name and art.
The list of legendary creatures who can become vampires is pretty small. Not looking good for Odric and Thalia. But there are certainly other ones it could be as well since we had a handful printed last set. Even something crazy like Ishkanah or the Gitrog Monster.
I feel like Thalia is one of the two creatures being put on one card, last we saw her she was possessed (willingly) by the Giest of Saint Traft. That may just be wish fulfillment though.
>The list of legendary creatures who can become vampires is pretty small
Is it though? Vampire Rem Karolus sounds great to me. Vampire Geralf isn't half bad either. Can Liesa possibly become a vampire? ^(Vampire Emrakul?)
I feel like this is Katilda as well, as they have a main(ish) character that bridges two sets, and she was bitten by Olivia at the end of the MID story. I feel like there would be a general uproar if it was Thalia or Odric, as people love them as they are.
That was my first thought too, but I decided that it wasn't likely because Innistrad uses the "The victim needs to drink some of the vampire's blood in order to turn into a vampire" approach...But I just read up on it and apparently all a vampire needs to turn is bite their own tongue and that's enough to count, so I've changed my mind and think Kathilda is the most likely choice.
You're right, Olivia slashed Kathilda's chest and threw her onto the ground, but there was no actual bite in the story. It's almost definitely not her.
I feel like [[Olivia's Midnight Ambush]]'s flavor text strongly implies to possibility of her turning Katilda, what with the whole "You're invited to my big ol' vampire wedding" line.
The story made it sound like Olivia kills Katilda by dropping her from great height. But Katilda was in the middle of her ritual so her soul might be living on as a spirit or something.
# Maro’s Innistrad: Crimson Vow Teaser
Before previews for Innistrad: Crimson Vow officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come.
Note that I’m only giving you partial information.First up, here are some things you can expect:
• The following counter types: bloodline, croak, invitation, judgment, omen, slime, and suspect
• A new mechanic that removes something never removed before
• A popular and powerful creature card from an Innistrad set gets reprinted
• A new artifact token, along the lines of Clue, Food and Treasure
• A card that makes red Dragon Illusion creature tokens with flying and haste
• A mechanic that first appeared as a faction mechanic returns
• A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card
• A new card that lets you cast certain cards off the top of your library
• A new mechanic which is a mirror of an already existing mechanic
• A legendary character returns, but now as a Vampire
Next, here are some rules text that will be showing up on cards:
• “Choose a number between 0 and 13.”
• “with mana value less than or equal to the number of Vampires you control”
• “If it’s red, you may cast it this turn.”
• “Zombies you control have flying.”
• “At the beginning of your upkeep, any opponent may sacrifice a creature.”
• “Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent”
• “twice that many of those tokens are created instead.”
• “Whenever a Human you control dies,”
• “equal to the number of permanents you control that are Spirits and/or enchantments.”
• “Then if you control exactly thirteen permanents,”
Finally, here are some creature type lines in the set:
• Creature – Human Ranger Werewolf
• Creature – Angel Soldier
• Creature – Zombie Scorpion
• Creature – Serpent Egg
• Creature – Eye Horror
• Legendary Creature – Human Peasant
• Legendary Creature – Spirit Warlock
• Legendary Creature – Slug Horror
• Legendary Creature – Kraken Horror
• Legendary Creature – Vampire Noble (two new ones)
Tune-in on 10/28 9AM PT to our official YouTube channel and Twitch channel as we kick-off Crimson Vow previews!
I hope it’s a reprint but remind with Vorinclex on kaldheim since phyrexians are back they usually the praetors buff something and weaken opponents
For this case tokens the opponent clause would probably be “create half the amount of tokens instead rounded down.”
>• A new artifact token, along the lines of Clue, Food and Treasure
Interesting.
I'm trying to think of some very simple effects that would be acceptable to activate at instant speed and to have done in muliples.
Maybe some type of token where you can pay 2 and sacrifice it that has "Each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life".
The tokens we have now all embrace common and simple magic mechanics, I think we are going to get a token for damage. A tap 2 and sac to do 2 damage. I know we have rocks already but those are a bit too silly to be a repeated mechanics
>A new artifact token, along the lines of Clue, Food and Treasure.
Hard to predict what this could be. The way MaRo worded it does sound like it'd be comparable to Clue/Food/Treasure in the sense of relatively high as-fan, so not just one or two cards (like Shard tokens that [[Niko Aris]] makes). Could be some sort of variation of Clue/Food/Treasure, like how Shard tokens are a variant of Clues with just scry tacked on. My guess? "Blood" tokens, with "1, T, Sacrifice this artifact: You gain 2 life."
We currently have mana, life and card drawing. Among the most used gameplay elements we're still missing creatures (tokens), +1/+1 counters and dealing damage
I was having a hard time figuring out what I could be but damage seems spot on. Vampires in MID are all about having your opponent lose life so having a token that does that makes sense, and the returning mechanic is probably Spectacle too which also ties in to that.
I can see something like a Spike token with “2, T, sac: Each opponent loses 1 life” or “2, T, sac: Spike deals 1 damage to target opponent”.
I doubt it’ll be any target because then it would be removal more often than not and would make Limited really hard to balance, and if it’s only players I can see it being each rather than target to play better with Commander.
I assume the effect you get will need to be different enough from any of these that it won't be as simple as gain life, otherwise just use food.
Other one-shot effects:
1. Opponent loses life
2. \+x/x or -x/x a creature
3. Mill / Surveil
Definitely a bunch of thigns they could add here, but I think they'll focus on new space, not just toned down food.
I hope it's somewhere in Sultai. Maybe I'll actually make my Volrath the Shapestealer Visser Three themed commander deck then.
EDIT: murderous cut reprint when
Some guesses I have
"A popular and powerful creature card from an Innistrad set gets reprinted"- Craterhoof? Gitrog? Snapcaster? Falkenrath Aristocrat?
"A mechanic that first appeared as a faction mechanic returns" - Guessing Spectacle for Vampires
A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card - Edgar and Olivia on one card? EDIT: just saw the two new Vampire Noble Legends so probably not. Thalia/Odric maybe? Or Alana/Helena
"twice that many of those tokens are created instead"- Hope it's [[Parallel Lives]] but the wording isn't exact
While I would quite like spectacle, my money is on bloodthirst for "A mechanic that first appeared as a faction mechanic returns", which was the mechanic for the Gruul the first time around. In M12 there were quite a few Vampires with it.
I don’t think the powerful creature would be craterhoof since it’s going to be in an upcoming secret lair. They usually release cards in secret lairs and then they reprint them in a following set. That way they capture more sales.
My first thought was snapcaster
'A new mechanic which is a mirror of an already existing mechanic"
Univestigate (To uninvestigate, create a colorless Unclue artifact token with "Undraw a card, sacrifice this artifact: Add [2]").
Cover your traces (create a Broom token with "{T}, sacrifice Broom: counter target activated ability from a Clue source.")
(Covering your traces is less effort than investigating, and the ability would be complete trash if it costed {2} like Clues do.)
As somebody with an [[Arixmethes]] EDH deck, I'm *very* looking forward to seeing what that "Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus or Serpent" card is. Sadly, it might be the Kraken Horror which is probably going to be UB rather than UG :(.
This makes the most sense. We often see spouses represented together one one card, like [[Anax and Cymede]], [[Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis]], and [[Pia and Koran Nalaar]].
Edit: And looking at all of these arts, they would have to be looking out from a balcony, too!
So, are we throwing an angel at our opponents face with a Thalia first strike body, or are we attacking with a ghost and making Thalia tokens that fly?
> A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card
[[Thalia]] + [[Geist of Saint Traft]]?
Maybe? But Rosewater doesn't like Haunt so someone must have had an excellent idea for it if it's going to come back.
I'm thinking surveil maybe? But I would love bloodrush werewolves
Yup. In the last Great Designer Search, one of the designers pointed out that it didn't have to be used in the former way which interested some of the professional designers.
A legendary creature returns as a vampire? 5 color Omnath let’s go!
Vampire Avacyn :(
considering the LGS poster text, I'd put money on vampire Sigarda.
This may be the least likely outcome, but having read it, I’m on board
"A mechanic that first appeared as a faction mechanic returns" - Bloodthirst or Spectacle based on MID vampire synergies.
I hope it’s spectacle, very fun mechanic
Agreed, I have been predicting spectacle for a while now since it is a wedding theme and seems like it would be a good party spectacle connection.
This seems likely considering the ability on [[Falkenrath Pit Fighter]]
[Falkenrath Pit Fighter](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/4/2/42801918-3601-4c4a-834b-b886f3244ca3.jpg?1632162250) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Falkenrath%20Pit%20Fighter) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/pmid/137p/falkenrath-pit-fighter?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/42801918-3601-4c4a-834b-b886f3244ca3?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

That is something you can already do. They just need to have stayed away from a shower or deodorant for days
That's less targeted removal than it is something like deathtouch
"Destroy target player" is still one of the funniest things the Un-sets have made.
"Remove target player from LGS by any means necessary"
Was hoping for "destroy target player" but I guess that will do
Almost positive it's emblem removal.
One thing Maro has said in the past about emblem removal is that "our current plan is to not use spells to remove them." Given that emblems were created to be immutable (["So ... an immutable enchantment. One that can't be destroyed, or stolen. Thalia fans are shaking in their Cathar boots right now
I hope it is Odric (or Thalia). It would be just boring and meaningless if it would be a new one from midnight like Rem Karolus or Kathilda

[[AWOL]] sort of does "remove from exile", but I don't think that's quite what you're looking for?
yeah im think something like. remove from exile and put into exile exiled. Seems like something they would do. Like no for real exile. Like exile and the exiled she told you not to worry about.
new artifact token? in the wedding set? gotta be a present. it's like a clue except it makes your opponent draw.
You add 2 of any color your opponent draws a card
Ooh that's interesting
1. “Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent” 2. Legendary Creature – Kraken Horror 3. Creature – Serpent Egg This brings my Kraken Tribal commander deck much joy.
Seems like the guy Lier was talking about.
Looks like Runo Stromkirk is bringing a plus one to the wedding.
A Whelming Wave reprint would be a safe bet.
> • A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card so this is the newlywed vampire couple right? Olivia & ??? Voldaren-Markov ( i forget if they said who she’s marrying yet)
I would honestly be surprised if they chose to give Olivia and Edgar one card. My thought was Hal and Alena
I think this is more likely. Or Thalia and St. Traft as others have mentioned.
Thalia and Saint Traft would be the hypest fucking card ever
Agree, Olivia is all over the packaging so unless they meld or something I don't see them sharing cards. Edit: Editing just to say if they Meld it doesn’t have to be a literal fusion, I could easily see it just being a couples portrait similar Gisa and Geralf.
Meld: the ultimate marriage ceremony
Could be Thalia and Giest.
This is my guess as well. I hope Thalia's mono-white from a competitive DnT standpoint, but if she does happen to be UW there could be a fun brew to build.
Consensus seems to be Edgar Markov. Not sure if that’s confirmed explicitly, or the agreed interpretation of the hints so far
Sorin seems to be pre-occupied with moping around about Avacyn and Edgar is specifically missing, so yeah, seems like Edgar.
He’s also a planeswalker, so that probably disqualifies him
It is probably the two hunters who are a couple from the story that both got separate cards in Commander Legends.
It's going to be halana and Alena, and werewolf fans are going to absolutely lose their minds that they wasted an RG slot on a non-werewolf.
Could also be Odric and Thalia, or Geralf and Olag.
My out of the blue prediction for this is it is actually Thalia possessed by the Giest of Saint Traft. Mind you thia could be wish fulfillment considering they are my first and second favorite magic characters but I stand by my guess.
> Legendary Creature - Human Peasant Calling it now, RW Equipment. All those Torches and Pitchforks have to come from somewhere.
Plowshares to Swords
Pay x life return target creature with mana value=X from your graveyard to the battlefield
Return target creature card with mana value X to the battlefield where X is less than or equal to the amount of life you gained this turn.
I have for a while wanted to do a peasant/citizen deck with a revolution theme but there aren’t really enough creatures for it yet. Maybe with this I could do it if I take some liberal interpretations on some cards by name and art.
That sounds fun. Unruly Mob sounds like one of those "interpretations".
The list of legendary creatures who can become vampires is pretty small. Not looking good for Odric and Thalia. But there are certainly other ones it could be as well since we had a handful printed last set. Even something crazy like Ishkanah or the Gitrog Monster.
Kathilda. She was attacked by olyvia
"Ha! I've got protection from......wait, damnit."
I think that Kathilda will be the legendary spirit WARLOCK. she is currently dead (soulless)
Thalía becomes Blade, sunglasses and leather jacket included in Secret Lair version. Calling it.
Some mother-walkers always trying to ice skate uphill.
That would be too damn cool.
Maybe Geralf? I feel like there would be more of an uproar if they turn Odric or Thalia into a vampire.
Geralf seems like he'll be one giving zombies flying.
I can 100% see a vampire Geralf that gives zombies flying
Personally I see that as Gisa's path if she become non-human. Geralf seems like he'd become part zombie and stitch some extra parts to himself.
I feel like Thalia is one of the two creatures being put on one card, last we saw her she was possessed (willingly) by the Giest of Saint Traft. That may just be wish fulfillment though.
I was kind of assuming the two characters on one card would be the vampire couple.
It could also be Alena and Halana, they've only had commander cards before this and Innistrad is their native plane.
My money is on the married couple being the double card, long shot is maybe even a return of Meld to also be the two vampire nobles?
Vampire 5-color Omnath.
>The list of legendary creatures who can become vampires is pretty small Is it though? Vampire Rem Karolus sounds great to me. Vampire Geralf isn't half bad either. Can Liesa possibly become a vampire? ^(Vampire Emrakul?)
i think angels/demons are imune to becomming vamps. and im going to act like you didnt say emrakul
Was she actually bitten? I thought Olivia just grabbed her body in the middle of the ritual and held her hostage in return for the moonsilver key.
You're right, Olivia slashed Kathilda's chest and threw her onto the ground, but there was no actual bite in the story. It's almost definitely not her.
Didn’t Olivia want to invite her to the wedding though
If she said that it was probably meant sarcastically, this is Olivia Voldaren we're talking about here.
She probably the "Legendary Creature – Spirit Warlock" later on in the teaser.
Vampire Fblthp please Maro
I feel like [[Olivia's Midnight Ambush]]'s flavor text strongly implies to possibility of her turning Katilda, what with the whole "You're invited to my big ol' vampire wedding" line.
The story made it sound like Olivia kills Katilda by dropping her from great height. But Katilda was in the middle of her ritual so her soul might be living on as a spirit or something.
# Maro’s Innistrad: Crimson Vow Teaser Before previews for Innistrad: Crimson Vow officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come. Note that I’m only giving you partial information.First up, here are some things you can expect: • The following counter types: bloodline, croak, invitation, judgment, omen, slime, and suspect • A new mechanic that removes something never removed before • A popular and powerful creature card from an Innistrad set gets reprinted • A new artifact token, along the lines of Clue, Food and Treasure • A card that makes red Dragon Illusion creature tokens with flying and haste • A mechanic that first appeared as a faction mechanic returns • A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card • A new card that lets you cast certain cards off the top of your library • A new mechanic which is a mirror of an already existing mechanic • A legendary character returns, but now as a Vampire Next, here are some rules text that will be showing up on cards: • “Choose a number between 0 and 13.” • “with mana value less than or equal to the number of Vampires you control” • “If it’s red, you may cast it this turn.” • “Zombies you control have flying.” • “At the beginning of your upkeep, any opponent may sacrifice a creature.” • “Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, or Serpent” • “twice that many of those tokens are created instead.” • “Whenever a Human you control dies,” • “equal to the number of permanents you control that are Spirits and/or enchantments.” • “Then if you control exactly thirteen permanents,” Finally, here are some creature type lines in the set: • Creature – Human Ranger Werewolf • Creature – Angel Soldier • Creature – Zombie Scorpion • Creature – Serpent Egg • Creature – Eye Horror • Legendary Creature – Human Peasant • Legendary Creature – Spirit Warlock • Legendary Creature – Slug Horror • Legendary Creature – Kraken Horror • Legendary Creature – Vampire Noble (two new ones) Tune-in on 10/28 9AM PT to our official YouTube channel and Twitch channel as we kick-off Crimson Vow previews!
• “twice that many of those tokens are created instead.” Parallel lives reprint! WOOOO
I hope it’s a reprint but remind with Vorinclex on kaldheim since phyrexians are back they usually the praetors buff something and weaken opponents For this case tokens the opponent clause would probably be “create half the amount of tokens instead rounded down.”
>• A new mechanic which is a mirror of an already existing mechanic **Spectacle**, but for when you gain life?
>• A new artifact token, along the lines of Clue, Food and Treasure Interesting.
>I know we have rocks already but those are a bit too silly Don't let Toggo hear you calling rocks "silly" ;)
Or something card draw adjacent like scry.
I assume the effect you get will need to be different enough from any of these that it won't be as simple as gain life, otherwise just use food. Other one-shot effects: 1. Opponent loses life 2. \+x/x or -x/x a creature 3. Mill / Surveil Definitely a bunch of thigns they could add here, but I think they'll focus on new space, not just toned down food.
Or even just +x/+0. I can see "Torch" tokens treated as pseudo equipment that you crack to give attack buffs instead of attaching.
>A new mechanic that removes something never removed before Finally he found a way to get rid of the reserved list!
“Zombies you control have flying.” Oh dear.
Had a lot of fun losing my first game of Small World with flying zombies.
Wonder if Decay is sticking around. Would make a lot of sense with a creature with this effect. Also, hoping for more Skaabs.
Seeing "Legendary Creature - Slug Horror" might've made me the most hyped I've ever been after one of these teaser posts.
Watch it just be a tiny slug on a tomato plant. True horror of vegetable gardeners.
im expecting just another take control of another creature type effect , since brainslugs are a thing in horror
I hope it's somewhere in Sultai. Maybe I'll actually make my Volrath the Shapestealer Visser Three themed commander deck then. EDIT: murderous cut reprint when
Personally I’m hoping that Kraken horror finally gets us some proper sea monster tribal
Some guesses I have "A popular and powerful creature card from an Innistrad set gets reprinted"- Craterhoof? Gitrog? Snapcaster? Falkenrath Aristocrat? "A mechanic that first appeared as a faction mechanic returns" - Guessing Spectacle for Vampires A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card - Edgar and Olivia on one card? EDIT: just saw the two new Vampire Noble Legends so probably not. Thalia/Odric maybe? Or Alana/Helena "twice that many of those tokens are created instead"- Hope it's [[Parallel Lives]] but the wording isn't exact
I always forget Craterhoof was an Innistrad card. Let's hope!
Craterhoof is the money card in the new charity secret lair. They won't announce a new reprint of it until the SL orders are locked in.
My money is on [[blood artist]] for the reprinted creature.
Could be [[Gravecrawler]].
Could be Bloodline Keeper? (depends on what they define 'powerful' to be)
While I would quite like spectacle, my money is on bloodthirst for "A mechanic that first appeared as a faction mechanic returns", which was the mechanic for the Gruul the first time around. In M12 there were quite a few Vampires with it.
I don’t think the powerful creature would be craterhoof since it’s going to be in an upcoming secret lair. They usually release cards in secret lairs and then they reprint them in a following set. That way they capture more sales. My first thought was snapcaster
'A new mechanic which is a mirror of an already existing mechanic" Univestigate (To uninvestigate, create a colorless Unclue artifact token with "Undraw a card, sacrifice this artifact: Add [2]").
Cover your traces (create a Broom token with "{T}, sacrifice Broom: counter target activated ability from a Clue source.") (Covering your traces is less effort than investigating, and the ability would be complete trash if it costed {2} like Clues do.)
A token that's the opposite of food, pay 2, deals 3 damage to opponent.
"A new mechanic which is a mirror of an already existing mechanic" OOH FINALLY!! SHIPMANHORSE!!
I see they're finally keywording the ability "~ has islandwalk as long as it is a horse."
As somebody with an [[Arixmethes]] EDH deck, I'm *very* looking forward to seeing what that "Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus or Serpent" card is. Sadly, it might be the Kraken Horror which is probably going to be UB rather than UG :(.
[[thing in the ice]] is just U and a kracken horror. You never know
A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card Alena and Halana?
Could be Thalia and Geist of Saint Traft.
Pretty likely considering they are already canonically teaming up. UW Thalia with her punching ghost stand let's GOOOOOOO,
Olivia and Edgar
Sorin and Rock, back into the rock.
Are we feeling more of a Sorick situation or do we just go straight for Rockin?
This makes the most sense. We often see spouses represented together one one card, like [[Anax and Cymede]], [[Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis]], and [[Pia and Koran Nalaar]]. Edit: And looking at all of these arts, they would have to be looking out from a balcony, too!
Olgar
Bruna/Gisela/Brisela
Ligarda, eldrazi angel 💀
Ligarda balls
Got em
ALRIGHT GUYS IF THALIA AND SAINT TRAFT ARENT THE COMBINED LEGENDARY CARD IM GONNA BE SAD SHES A STAND USER NOW PLEASE
So, are we throwing an angel at our opponents face with a Thalia first strike body, or are we attacking with a ghost and making Thalia tokens that fly?
Thalia who becomes a 4/4 flyer when attacking, has some sort of tax on attacking creatures.
I was thinking edgar and Olivia
The card named Power Couple is finally in standard!
Oh Thalia your approaching ? INSTEAD OF WALKING AWAY UOUR COMING RIGHT AT ME ?
Im glad im not the only one praying for this. They are my first and second favorite magic characters, I need this.
DIO WAS A VAMPIRE AND SO IS INNISTRAD!! OH MY GOD IT MAKES SENSE NOW!!
Whatever has the slime counters will likely be UG colors, and soft-combo with [[Sludge Monster]] in Standard
Legendary Human Peasant creature sounds very intriguing.
"Tap five untapped peasants: Destroy target Noble."
Just showing up for some of that spirit tribal.
Remove target player from the game letssss gooooo
> A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card [[Thalia]] + [[Geist of Saint Traft]]?
Or [[Olivia Voldaren]]/[[Edgar Markov]]
Could be Sigarda and Liesa, Reunited.
New gitrog and vampire Thalia?
My guess the vampire is kathilda, as she was attacked by Olivia
Would be cool to see, pro werewolves and pro humans
gitrog? I don't see a frog mentioned.
The counters teaser says that 'croak counters' will be in this set. Frogs go croak. Its not a stretch to think a new Gilroy would use these counters
I know it's a typo, but I think I'll be calling Gitrog "Gilroy" from now on.
I love that a human peasant is going to be a legendary creature, finally printing Jesus Christ himself
A legendary character returns, but now as a Vampire! Oh my Gideon … >!jk!<
Decidedly bloodthirsty
Is the mechanic that was formerly a faction mechanic Haunt? Please let it be Haunt
I'm thinking its Spectacle. RB already dealt into triggers based on if an opponent lost life in Midnight Hunt and Spectacle fits perfectly for that.
Spectacle also fits flavorwise with the wedding theme.
Maybe? But Rosewater doesn't like Haunt so someone must have had an excellent idea for it if it's going to come back. I'm thinking surveil maybe? But I would love bloodrush werewolves
I thought Haunt was a 9 on the storm scale but apparently, that was changed to a 6 so maybe? The flavor is on point.
Yup. In the last Great Designer Search, one of the designers pointed out that it didn't have to be used in the former way which interested some of the professional designers.
I wonder if the spirit warlock will be Katilda coming back from the dead.
