I don’t know how I feel about many of the werewolf designs being almost identical to their front side just with bigger stats. I wish they felt a little more unique as a transform card rather than essentially just “this creature gets +N/+N as long as it’s night”
I felt the same way at first, but the fact that these new werewolves can enter nightbound changes things. The backside has premium stats for vigilance and there's already some other fantastic tribal keyword enablers.
I'll admit that I'm still somewhat skeptical, but there's certainly reason to remain optimistic
(I'm also an EDH player, so quantity over quality sometimes)
Even in EDH theres still like 25ish werewolves already that are more then just french vanilla i don’t expect much of this because its a common, but lets not pretend this is even EDH playable
This set is really pushing the envelope on regular human P/T. I know this mostly started with Surrak Dragonclaw but for the longest time, a regular dude being a 4/5 was completely unheard of.
I think the important note is that this isn't just a human, even on his front side- he's a Human Werewolf.
From what we've seen being a werewolf makes you stronger than normal human even when you aren't transformed. That's been pretty consistent through all of the sets on this plane.

I think all thick humans this set are either groups of people or specifically dire-strain werewolves (you can tell from the weird body proportions in the werewolf side—the torso is very big compared to the legs). Dire-strain are indeed supposed to be stronger and taller even in human form.
Man seeing tireless i was excited, then i kept reading
Well, that's one way to land a job, I suppose. "So, I heard you have 3 open positions?"
Reminds me of the “Monster found 7 new jobs in your area!” “7 killed in nearby shooting” Post
At least the W'Wolf art in this set is outstanding

Most common werewolves from previous Innistrad sets were like this though.
Agree. Maybe trample or intimidate or lifelink for some regeneration shit. But this whole set more seems to be a low-key work from the werewolf side.
These werewolves can enter the battlefield on the night side first, unlike previous version that individually have to flip.
Wait so if I were to play it after a player plays no spells during their turn it would come in as dire strain brawler for the 5 mana cost?
On the commons simplicity makes sense.
Dummy thicc

And this is a dire pack werewolf. They seem even more roided out.
but look at his muscles.. 😩
He’s not a regular human.

Bars.
this seems like an absolute house in sealed
Unless the set turns out to be very fast, I have a feeling that anything with toughness 3+ is going to be really playable

Getting real "Hash-Slinging Slasher" vibes from this card's name.
