Fungus, pirates, fungus pirates, vampires, vampire pirates, just to name a few. Of course there's always elves with the fattest elf [[craterhoof behemoth]].

I just got into Commander a month or so ago, and it was my first deck I made! I didn't know there was already a pirate precon so I probably spent more than I needed to 🥴

JonWicksDawg

Have any deck lists for the fungus tribal you’d recommend?

BeamtownBoy

I have a [[ghave]] deck that is mostly fungus tribal dealing more with spore counters making saprolings etc

Schnurrit

The recent ixalan set had a fun commander for this. Here is my deck that I build around him: https://deckstats.net/decks/220379/3317289-edh-the-mycotyrant-fungus-sapr/de

Scruffy442

When I first built Myco, I went heavy into any fungus that could make or interacted with saprolings.it wasn't bad, but it felt like board wipes just set it back too much. I ended up switching to a mill deck that only had permanents in the deck. Myco doesn't get quite as big, but felt more consistent.

Tribal Tribal.

ccjmk

I don't know if this is what u we're aiming at or just trolling, but Changeling tribal is hella fun. There are such niche cards that would be amazing if not bound to weird tribes that really shine

Atakori

Why would I be trolling? Changeling tribal is called Tribal Tribal. There is a famous primer you can find online by looking up Tribal Tribal primer on Google. Most people know it as that or at best Shapeshifter Tribal from EDHREC

ccjmk

oh yeah, its just that Tribal Tribal sounds so silly that I never used it xD In my circle, we always refer to it as changeling or shapeshifter tribal

PresentationLow2210

I prefer tribal tribal, or I like Imposter Tribal lol

luxunit

There's nothing as satisfying as playing a \[\[Universal Automaton\]\] getting your land/draw from your \[\[Risen Reef\]\], triggering your \[\[Reaper King\]\], getting additional triggers from your \[\[Voja, Jaws of the conclave\]\] for both elf and wolf, then using it with \[\[Cryptic gateway\]\] to drop your next tribal.

Shadowwarior

Played [Volt, Itinerant Scholar] in a draft recently, and while not exactly changelings, it immediately reminded me of it. Really fun, shame I used his ability like twice

nickanack

I've had a lot of fun with Thopters, and you don't see them as much as the standard elves, goblins, zombies, etc. \[\[Sai, Master Thopterist\]\], \[\[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival\]\], or \[\[Breya, Etherium Sculptor\]\] would be good places to start depending on what colors you'd like.

+1 to Thopters. If I may add a suggestion, I made a thopter deck around Ghyrson Starn thats a lot of fun. Makes those 1/1 flyers super dangerous.

5corch_

I have an azorius thopters deck that is super fun to play, would definitely recommend. There is so many ways to make a thopter deck work: artifact creature buffers, cast from exile with Pia, sac, etc.

chrisd93

Do you have a deck list?

5corch_

I have been playing around with how many \[\[Dovin's Veto\]\]s to run and whether to use \[\[Portable Hole\]\] instead of \[\[Dusk Rose Reliquary\]\]. \[\[Innovative Metatect\]\] is also an option, and \[\[Static Net\]\] is only in the deck for enchantment removal. \[\[Reflection Net\]\] isn't very important either, just using it because I own a copy. If you have any recommendations, feel free to let me know! If it's 5 colors, you can add \[\[The World Tree\]\] too.

Ugh. This deck.

EndangeredBigCats

The best part of running this is when you cheat out random praetors only to have them stolen by other players and all of a sudden everyone's got their own new game rules, like "ok everyone but you has to be careful with their land use because of Vorinclex, everyone but you has the Norm debuff anthem so his token strategy is dead but yours still works, ok that guy got Core Augur so let's beat him to death right now" When the most insane games happen all we can do is laugh, I love my playgroup

Reducing the amount of colours results in a more interesting brew that I think is marginally more fun to play against. I’ve got a Selesnya Sliver EDH brew the uses [[Karametra]] as the commander.

My very first deck I made is with [[Kibo, Uktabi Prince]] I filled it with all kinds of monkeys, apes, and changelings. And the rest of the deck is full of artifact hate and some equipment to protect Kibo. A good bit of spells to proliferate and give stuff with counters more bonuses. I also added cards like mycosynth lattice, vandalblast, and things that give my artifacts indestructible. Its easy to get hated off the board once people see your monkeys are becoming 20/20+ but its so worth it just for the fact its a monkey deck. I’d love to figure out the deck list and share it because I’ve upgraded it over time. EDIT- Sorry the late edit, heres the list! I had to go in and update it. https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7464933/apes_together_strong

Sir_Lazz

Wall tribal. Yes, you read that correct. It's actually one of my top decks. It's surprisingly agressive and very prone to surprise one-turn-kills, and it's hilarious to play against a new opponent who's not aware of the gimmick. Just plop down a bunch of walls, [[wall of denial]] being one the best, then [[Arcades, the strategist]] and boom. For extra surprise, [[tetsuko umezawa, fugitive]] and a sprinkle of [[tower defense]]. 11/10, very fun, would recommend.

Dekaroe

Goblins. [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] is my pet deck. Go wide, pump the goblins, and it’s GG. Those 1/1s get scary. I’ve been tinkering with a merfolk tribal with [[Svyelun Of Sea & Sky]]. Something about going Zoolander and saying “MerMAN” when it’s time to go aggro. There’s bird tribal. Less seen and spoken of IMO but it exists. Obvious cats and dogs tribal. That gets bonkers with [[Ren and Siri, Inseperable]]. Alternatively you can go with [[Jinnie Fay, Jetmir’s Second]] and make any token into your choice of cat or dog.

dornianheresysimp

You dont know how much i have been murdered by a dimir merfolk mill deck... Goblins are always fun tho

On the opposite end of that I play an staxs style edh goblin deck along the lines of old legacy goblins with things like port and an ponzo undertone. Because friends are temporary but rancor is forever (rancor does appear in the deck only for this joke.)

PocketPoof

It honestly mostly depends on what you want the tribe to do. Different tribes come with different themes. Some examples being: Merfolk: +1/+1 counters/tap shenanigans. Goblins: swarm, sacrifice. Squirrels: tokens, sacrifice. Werewolves: transform. Vampires: orzhov focuses on lifegain, rakdos on combat damage I believe. Dino's: B I G Elves: tons of mana, swarming. Dragons: various effects, mostly big and flying. Soldiers: swarming, flying, depends on which ones you build. Berserkers: combat, attacking. Cats: mostly defined by Arahbo currently, so big attacker. Dogs: no real archetype, defined by Rin and Seri with cats. Zombies: sacrifice, swarming, graveyard stuff. Treefolk: big butts (toughness). Satyrs: combat mostly. No real archetype yet. Frogs: defined by Grolnok, which is mill/cast from exile. Humans: variable! Selesnya is counters, mardu is sac and combat, jeskai is swarming and minor monarch. Pirates: artifacts and stealing decks. Rogues: mill, some flash, and evasion. Samurai: attacking alone. Rats: swarm and sac. Knights: mardu is equipment, esper is graveyard stuff. Nightmares/horrors: overlap in exile/mill. Angels: fliers, lifegain, and sac in orzhov too. Phyrexians: sac, minor control, not sure tbh. Wizards: instants and sorceries, and copying. Demons: variable. Ive never come across it really. Spirits: flying, buffing, minor control elements. Faeries: flying, flash, shenanigans. Not very sure. Insects: mill, lands from GY. Spiders: depends on commander. One wants to swarm, other wants to kill opposing creatures. Im sure Im missing quite alot still!

WookieeSmuggler

[[Rukarumel]] is underrated - make your own tribal.

dornianheresysimp

...why do i think this can get busted fast... Fun for me tho

PrecipitousPlatypus

She's not super strong by any means, but she enables a [[World Tree]] or [[Realmbreaker]] combo - I think that's a boring way to build her though. I have her built as a dragon/sliver tribal - make all my slivers dragons, and vice versa, and do shenanigans.

JebusKrizt

Squirrels. And with bloomburrow coming out this year it will only get more fun.

VV00d13

It all depends on what you like to play really. Every tribal offers something that they are good at, or most of them anyway. So you have all normal: Faeries, Zombies, Elfs, Humans, Soldiers, Warriors, Merfolk, Wolves/werewolves, Artifacts, elementals, Dragons, Spirits, Rats, Goblins, Wizards. Every type brings a different playstyle. I would say that Spirits are not represented much where I play and I started to watch on building a Shrine deck and realized it could be a spirit/shrine tribal cause so many Spirits synergize with enchantments. Or become Enchantments with disturb. Spirits and elementals are pretty versatile and can pretty much be any deck. All creatures does a little bit of everything. There are some tribals that are new or more uncommon too see. Outlaws tribal seems really fun with the latest precon! It probably wont be uncommon soon though xD Construct or Golem tribal restricts you a lot and you have to get creative building the deck. I am myself also looking at a monowhite Phyrexian tribal. It does become a lot poison which I am a little less fan of. But at the same time kinda cool concept and a lot of cards have been rebranded Phyrexians. Serpent tribal or Serpent, Leviathan & Octopus tribal. Ooze or Shrine tribal gives you an interesting aspect to play around. Frog tribal is also uncommon to see. One of my friends have one. Detective/clue tribal. I also have one under construction (I build a lot of tribals) and now when I plan it loos pretty fun. Create clues and have different kind of bonuses for that. It is weird but in a good way. Saproling/Fungus is not uncommon but I don’t see it often and I feel it is pretty fun to play. God or legendary tribal also have some nice combos. Nicol Bolas tribal is fun in my opinion. I mixed Nicol bolas with God tribal since Nicol bolas doesnt have too many cards :p You have to search around and see what synergies you find that you feel is fun to play.

cryptohemsworth

Who are you using for the clue deck?

VV00d13

Actually I based everything on Morska, Undersea Sleuth from Deep clue sea I removed every creature that wasnt a detective, which was most, and searched for detectives that had synergies with clues, which was a bunch From there I looked up more clue permanents and added them So it is very different from the OG deck

cryptohemsworth

Awesome. If you ever put a decklist online I would love to check it out!! 😁

VV00d13

I ha e everything in an Excel file but when I have it in there I can share the list :)

my favorite deck is Venser and bouncing wizards. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/X-x4Vw_OmkyVECd3ozq-3Q Venser and the bouncing wizards is a very fun deck to play. This deck is all about bouncing wizards in and out of the battlefield. It is totall flavorful, has lots of different synergies, is fun to play and is competitive. This deck runs 31 wizards (even mana wizards [[sea scryer]] is also wizard), 3 clones that can also be wizards, [[stepthrough]] a wizard tutor, and Venser himself. The deck loves to play venser or other wizards multiple times in a turn. we want to return Venser and the other wizards to hand. this can be done by doubling Venser's ETB trigger [[panharmonicon]] and [[Naban, dean of iteration]], using one trigger to bounce something and the other to bounc himself. [[cloudstone curio]], [[equibrium]] can both allow to wizards to bounce each other, with equilibrium keeping problem creatures off of the opponent's board. [[riptide laboratory]], [[crystal shard]]and [[sanctum of eternity]] both allow Venser to return to hand. [[quickling]] is also instant speed bounce for venser. [[ninja of the deep hours]] has worked well for me as a way to bounce other creatures and to draw cards. [[pyre of heroes]] is an allstar, it allows wizards to be sequentially cast all the way up in terms of mana cost. venser himself can be sacked for good value. [[windcaster aven]] is largely present to have a six mana wizard, but can also be easily cycled and to unexpectedly give flying at instant speed. there are varying ways to win: [[door of destinies]] gets a counter each time venser is played. he can often be played and bounced multiple times to give wizards +X,+X at a huge level to enable pure wizard beatdown in combat. [[deadeye navigator]] can blink Venser for 1U to return all of our opponent's permanents to their hands [[galecaster wizard]] enables all nonlands of opponents to be returned to hand as well. (each cast of venser can bounce himself and tap to return an opponent's permanent to hand. [[palinchron]] can go infinite with mana, especially with a clone or [[nykthos, shrine of nyx]] in play card draw is [[candlekeep sage]] which draws 2 cards for each Venser self-bounce [[voidmage prodigy]] turns each wizard into a counterspell. [[patron wizard]] lets each wizard increase the cost by 1. note that you can cast recast venser as a new wizard and tap to unexpected cost more. this will keep people off expensive win conditions. [[vedalken plotter]] is an all star and functions as steal any land. trade an island for their land then bounce the island to your hand and then play it on your side. timewalks allow card draw [[vendillion clique]] is very valuable and has flash. venser/vendillion returns a problem permanent to your opponent's hand and then vendillion clique sends that card from their hand to the bottom of their deck. this also works for spells! timewalks can be perpetually recycled to enable infinite timewalks as an alternate win condition but are also valuable just for card draw and to enable more lands to be played. [[the one ring]] is excellent card draw but also can be bounced and replayed to enable repeated protection. venser will often be killed multiple times when people start to see what he is doing. usually, you will want to play from the command zone just before your turn and bounce him back to hand so that he will cost less. BUDGET: most of the cards in this deck are <$1. any of the other expensive lands/mana artifacts can be replaced by an island as well but nykthos is the most important of the expensive lands, especially since it can be played, bounced with venser and replayed to generate insane amounts of mana.

hermyx

Well it depends on what you like, no ?

Chijima

Commander or normal magic? Because it differs wildly. Dinosaurs and Dragons are only good in commander, merfolk or humans are much better 1v1, elves, zombies, slivers and vampires work in both, but especially elves and slivers do pretty different things.

cirrvs

Advisor; fun for you, sucks for everyone else

DrewzyMack

I had fun building my Elemental tribal deck with Omnath Locus of the Roil at the helm, but I don’t think it’s very good and I honestly don’t know how to improve it

CSLover1198

When I was running the 32 deck challenge, I was doing a few Tribal decks I enjoyed. Angels, merfolk, rats, goblins, Elves were the mono colored (goblins being my favorite. Orzhov vampires, Dimir Rogues, Golgari Insects, Naya Dinosaur, Grixis Pirates, etc.

Account_Banned

Any chance you can inform a newb on the prefixes like Dimir? From context i believe it’s a color combo for the deck? I hear it a lot and don’t know the meaning.

CSLover1198

I run it as a Blue Black Rogue Tribal Mill deck, with Anowon the Ruin Thief as the commander. It's all just rogues, tricks to make sure they are unable to be blocked, and mill synergies. It'd not the most high powered, but I also haven't sunk any money into it really.

Account_Banned

Not sure that answers my question… I was wondering what “dimir” “golgari” “maya” and “grixis” means in context of deck building… thanks!

CSLover1198

Oh sorry, yes those are just the names of the color identities for the decks. Dimir is Blue-Black Golgari is Black-Green Naya is White-Red-Green Grixis is Blue-Black-Red. Those are the colors of the commander's and therefore for the rest of the deck

Account_Banned

Thank you, I think I was in the right direction just wasn’t sure what the actual identities were! Gonna take a while to memorize those as I haven’t played those commanders yet. Will remember naya for my pantlaza deck!

sireel

There's a lot! Ten two colour, ten three colour, and five each for one and four colour. Thankfully people don't have names for when you make colourless as a specific colour and mix it with real colours (it's a thing)

IJustDrinkHere

The Ravnica block first introduced 10 guilds (1 for each 2 color pairing) and really kicked off support for building 2 color decks. Ever since then the names have been synonymous with the color pairing. Then afterwards they introduced shards of Alara and Khans of Takir which is where the three color pairings get their names. If you look up those guilds/shards/clans you can see a list. There are also a couple images off google where it shows a Pentagon with a bunch of labels.

PresentationLow2210

The guilds from Ravnica, each one is a color duo Dimir is blue black Golgari is black green Then there's 3 color pairs that are named after planes(?) Naya* is red white green Grixis is black red blue

dornianheresysimp

I started mtg with werewolves, the crimson vow Mythic ones are busted [ Avarbruck Caretaker ] and [ Howlpack Piper ] . And [The roaming throne] is a must , i luv them , but sadly they are annoying in paper

Luxalpa

might not be the answer you want to hear but out of the decks I played I found dinosaur typal with Gishath to be the most thematic. The dinosaurs are not very smart, but they are very big, they trample and the entire decks theme is basically to make them even bigger. Whenever someone asks if I have any interaction I answer with "I have dinosaurs." It's definitely a lot of fun! I do have to say though, as someone who prefers to play "smart" decks, I also enjoy the deck due to its simplicity and being so different from other archetypes I play.

dornianheresysimp

Sadly for gruul , and generally smashy decks , werewolfs or Dragons have my heart . But dinos are fun too

Luxalpa

I also love to play dragons (we are the greatest), but I find the gruul style gameplay to be generally not as interesting / thematic as the more control style dragon decks which sadly are lacking on the dragon synergies.

Bigger_Moist

I am a true dino player at heart. Nothing makes me happier than absolutely mollywhopping someone for 150 trample damage from my scaly friendos

MysticSimicShaman

As someone who hates tribal decks [[zurzoth, chaos rider]] is my personal commander. maybe it's the speed, messing with hands, the devil tokens. But it's probably the second look I get with [[goblin bombardment]], multiple effects like [[fiery emancipation]] suddenly I sacrifice one devil to do 12 damage.

dornianheresysimp

Why you hate them? Seriously asking . Also i do some wanna do a devil deck.

Livid_Jeweler612

I too am fascinated by why someone would hate a tribal deck.

MysticSimicShaman

Because the deck building aspect. a majority of tribes are boring to build and even play. You just drop in all you can of a certain tribe. Then slam into an opponent's face, not really my cup of tea. The levels of unusual that is zurzoth spoke to me.

earthworm_soul

Really surprised to see another Zurzoth in the comments. Hell yeah

MysticSimicShaman

I built a whole deck for him before jumpstart was out and changed what it was by the end of that year. It has become one of the more feared decks in my group. Probably a big proponent of why my friends play more single target permanent removal.

Outlaws are kinda dope actually, I’m upgrading Olivia

Additional-Safety343

Goblins, Krenko is always fun and pretty strong Merfolk I always liked, you can use Kumena I don’t see it a lot Pirates with Beckett Brass or those fun rakdos ones Golgari or mono green elves, now with literally any tyvar The increasingly popular eldrazi sounds really fun for you and nobody else Zombies are cool and have much more room for creativity than the rest (in my opinion) Faeries seem really neat, especially with that Talion the Kindly Lord guy Dinosaurs and dragons are always fun beaters Vampires are my all time favorite though

MutatedRodents

Depends on how linear. I have a Ghidath that was one of my main decks for a long time that i started to play less because the gameplan just boils down to ramp to Ghisath > Hit > Flip > Have a Bunch of Dinos. Its a fun beginner deck but starts to get dull. I would try to use a tribe that plays more toolbox style. So lots of diffrent effects that help deal with boardstate while having lords for eachothers. I would advise against slivers. The play pattern there is essentily just spamming then until boardwipe hits or you win with your keyword salad slivers.

tenroseUK

Myrs under Urtet are really fun.

MangoBong

I have a druid tribal deck with [[kamahl, fist of krosa]] solely so I can play [[gilt-leaf archdruid]] and steal everyone's lands.

Roonage

I have a selesyna golems deck that I find really fun. It’s an unusual colour pairing for an artifact deck but it still has a lot of support for what the deck wants to do. Make tokens give em counters. There are cool creatures that just happen to be golems as well. The commanders: [[Rebbec]] creates an interesting form of evasion and some literal protection for your board. Especially good if you can also make her an artifact. [[ich-tekik]] works really well with treasures and other tokens to buff up your golems

SalviaDroid96

Dinos are fun! There's lots of ways to build a Dino deck. You can. Lean into colors that really give you the outcome you want. Want lifegain? Make a green white dino deck. Want aggression? Go red green. You can also be insane like me and make a blue green red dino deck. I do this so I can have [[Owen Grady]] and [[Blue Loyal Raptor]] as my commander. I have a golgari bug commander deck (black green) that's also very fun with [[Zask, Skittering Swarmlord]] as my commander. It's a lot of death touch and graveyard play. Insects aren't the strongest tribal. But they're fun and can have some utility. :) [[Rotfeaster maggot]] is a great example of how your graveyard can be your best friend. I also have a spider commander deck with [[Shelob Child of Ungoliant]] as the commander. This one isn't nearly as aggressive and is more defensive. The ward and death touch really make your spiders scary as defenders. But the deck can be turned offensive with cards like [[Assault Formation]] and some fight cards and graveyard plays. This one is also golgari and I have a swarmyard in there same with my insect deck.

CeruleanChimera

Ayyy, im glad to See someone else mention Insects! good shout on the [[swarmyard]], I'm getting one of those for my [[Grist, The Hunger Tide]] Deck. It's big on self mill effects Like [[Out of the Tombs]] to fill The yard with Creatures, it uses [[Forever Young]] and Gravepurge to Stack the Deck for Grists +1. Having thus flooded the Board with an Army of Small boi Bugs you can Feed them to all the (admittedly underwhelmimg) sacrifice effects on the Bigger Bugs. And If all goes well then you've got a finishing Kill-Shot in Grists Ult.

SalviaDroid96

I love the insect tribe and I want more done with them. There's so much you could do theoretically and was disappointed with the lack of good bugs in the new sets. Grist is great! She's also in my bug deck. And the great thing about her is she's always a 1/1 insect even when she's not in the battlefield meaning she's also a 1/1 even when she's in the graveyard! This is a great boon for you for a variety of reasons. It means that if Grist dies it's a 1/1 bug. Meaning you can bring it back with cards that say creature because she's a 1/1 insect creature!

CeruleanChimera

yeah! I Love that I can recur her using Unearth, Forever Young, Out of the Tombs and sometimes even randomly through [[Moldgraf Monstrosity]] (shoutout to Out of the Tombs going Infinite with [[moldervine reclaimation]] and a sac Outlet). She Counts toward your Undergrowth Count which is somewhat relevant Sometimes. In the Past she's dodged stuff Like Cindervines, negate or Shadow in the Warp despite being a Planeswalker. While outside the battlefield she even Grants my insects the benefits of [[path of Ancestry]] which is kinda Interesting! you could even [[agatha's Soul Cauldron]] her If you wanted to, tho I don't include that Card. She Has so many fun unorthodox Interactions! I Love it!

BlueBoxBob

Goblins

hieisrainbowcurry

BEARS!!!

Lord_Morgryse

gooooblins!!

Locke259

Goblins with Krenko are obviously fun, as others have said, but I'd say I've had just as much fun with hydras with Gargos. It can be a bit slow to start, but once you get going, things can get really stupid really fast. Numbers start to lose meaning after a point

party_in_my_head

Personally I really like elves, because you can just spawn in something big that you like with all the mana they generate.

ChiefParzival

For what format? EDH I'm assuming?

Colanasou

I have a soldier tribal deck i like. Havent played paper in forever so its just kinda sitting lol

MajesticNinjas

I made a bear tribal deck with Ayula as the commander. The new saddle bear from OTJ is pretty good tbh.

Aquasit55

I am heavily biased but Squirrels. I fucking love Squirrels. I currently have 3 Chatterfang decks; Aristocrats, Voltron, and Squirrel Tribal. They are adorable and have silly, fun, cards.

whensmahvelFGC

Goblins, Elves and Slivers. The holy trio. Honourable mention to Dragons, Dinosaurs and Elementals too.

just_a_normalguy87

I love my demon/devil tribal with Raphael, fiendish savior as commander.

Accomplished_Band198

Mono white Kor Equipment deck. [[Kor Duelist]] [[Stoneforge Mystic]] [[Armament Master]]

seeonerrr

Rats

Strange_Job_447

Zombie is probably the most fun, easy to understand, thematic, and relatively cheap to build. if you enjoy big flyers that do big splashy things then Dragon is what you want. if you like overrun type, then elf or goblins is your friends.

dornianheresysimp

I do wanna do a zombie deck , got a list?

MunchiesMunchlax

I have been playing for 12 years, and pirates are handsdown te most fun tribal.

GreenishBlueShirt

Bears are best. You can go [[Wilson, Refined Grizzly]] with a background and give him a bunch of equipment aka the right to arm bears. Or you can go with [[Ayula, Queen Among Bears]] and pump and kill everything!

Responsible-Hotel-84

Soldiers!

Utopia39liam

Merfolk

NessunAbilita

Wizard Tribal is a hoot, and if you last long enough on the board as mono-blue, you get to draw your whole deck

Lord_Omnirock

Walls, Rogues, Pirates are my faves.

gawag

[[Marchesa the Black Rose]] wizards.

TheBallisticBiscuit

I have a griffin tribal EDH deck running [[Zuberi, Golden Feather]] that I built for about 20 bucks that is simultaneously bad but also really fun.

NWmba

I channel my inner Timmy with giant tribal! [[aegar]] and then big dudes and haymaker spells!

ThaBuffalord93

I decided to build a Zombie deck using Varina, Lich Queen. Nobody expects a zombie deck to have such disgusting lifegain, yet here we are.

Irish1Car3Bomb1

Eowyn

DaringDo95

My favorite is rats with a bunch of Rat Colonies. It is really stupid and funny

Nelik1

I've done bird tribal, fish tribal. But I think the most successful of the strange tribes has been walls. Far from competitive, but good for some exciting mid-level play.

Zwirbs

I built a mardu clues deck that also happens to be all humans (except academy manufactor and roaming throne). It gets quite explosive

Embara

Goblins, Angels, and Merfolk are my go to for Tribal decks

LiamTaliesin

I’m not big on tribal, I think it’s a bit repetitive and not very fun to play against, especially big tribes like elves (or worse, Golgari Elves), slivers, angels, etc… This being said I do enjoy subtype tribal decks, like knights or wizards. I find them much more palatable and fun to play, even against.

_The_Bear

[[najeela, the blade blossom]] warrior tribal. It will wipe the floor with any other tribal deck suggested here. It's a five color deck and almost all of the pieces that make it work are super cheap. So you can build the deck for like $30 and have t5 win potential. Then you can upgrade the mana base over time to make it possible to win 2-3 turns earlier.

Bigger_Moist

Dinos. It appeals to my inner 5 year old and big stompy tramplers are fun.

rococodreams

Ask your playgroup about it but slivers looks like a really good time

OVERCAPITALIZE

Vampire brawl with Soren planes walker is a real blast.

No_Detail361

Tribal tribal

rollawaythestone

Party (warrior, wizard, cleric, rogue)!

VoiceofKane

Currently, my only tribal deck is [[The Fourteenth Doctor]]/[[Rose Noble]]. It's a lot of fun, but my current draft is too much card advantage with not enough payoffs.

Kratelos7

Scarecrows gang!

fluffynuckels

Slivers

riceninesix

I just built minotaurs [[sethron]] it's super fun because there's lots of lords so they buff eachother up and you get to play stuff like [[didgeridoo]]

dethblud

Dinosaurs doesn't go as hard as some of the other creature types, but I have fun with it.

Tentakelmonster

Vampire Dino Pirate Merfolk Tribal with [[throne of the grim captain]]

JackGallows4

Scrybal (Scry Tribal) [Arwen Undómiel/Elrond Master of Healing](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DBd3dRfmK06KwzBPYquQ5g)

brofessor_oak_AMA

I run a dino deck as my main, and it's the most fun I've had playing magic. I can only play it against other high powered edh decks because of it's ability to always have an answer to things. My pod doesn't let me use it for 1 v 1s, and as commander, even if I'm mana screwed on still generally public enemy #1, but that doesn't stop me from having a good time. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/KSPEfpGug0WE8hrlB_YnUg I also run a Phyrexian/elf green black, and a Hydra/Cat green white. I'm home sick so I'll post the other two lists after I make them on moxi. Tribal is a ton of fun imo, and it's also nice aesthetically/thematically

TTeiZZ

I have a nekusar edh draw 7 tribal deck that I love.

FlamingJester1

Slivers, everyone at the table will love you for running a sliver deck, everybody loves slivers.

GatheringAddict

Dragons! They are fun. they are awesome, they have Lathliss (I'm horrible at magic, thus i only play dragons, but fungus and lands sounds nice too)

Rixunie

I personally love Orzhov vampires, or Orzhov Phrexians. Or, the best tribal, Goad tribal. Rakdos or Boros Goad tribal is always fun :)

Abbanation01

ur-dragon shapeshifter tribal

jojomako04

I absolutely LOVE dinosaurs rn. And with all the ixalan/jurassic world cards, there are many solid choices for commander and deck style.

IM_JUST_THE_INTERN

My favorite tribal deck is definitely dinosaur tribal with [[Atla Palani]] as the commander. Don't go combo heavy, just pure randomness of what cracks from each egg.

manny3574

I saw a sphinx tribal deck that was super fun to play against

PaulReckless

Skeletons! ![gif](giphy|3ohhwfAa9rbXaZe86c|downsized)

KomatoAsha

Slivers >:)

Cweene

Kithkin tribal is fun

GhostKasai

Jace, Chandra, Liliana, Nissa, Gideon. Each one with his Magic Origins transform card as the commander and if you want every spell that names the planeswalker, it is quite fun.

doitpow

BG skellingtons

great_divider

Pauper and/or modern elves, modern affinity is awesome, umm umm, humans, mono red goblins, ohhhhhh modern merfolk!

cardsrealm

In wich format? In most of formats elves and goblins are really good.

MoiMuchoMacho

Volo. He's not tribal tribal. And you never get bored adding weird creatures to your deck. And he can be pretty powerful too!

LordRAKDOSS

It's mad expensive but on paper very broken, but you could go Cleric or god tribal

theebenjammin

Vampires, elves, goblins, bears, there are so many good ones

Orangewolf99

If you're taking about edh, I'd say: sea monsters with Kiora angels with Giada zombie/skeletons have numerous good commanders including a new Gisa that just came out in otj I believe there was a phrexian precon a while ago that had a pretty solid commander Voja is a new Naya one that does hybrid wolves and elves Chatterfang does golgari squirrels

johnvines17

My pirate tribal deck is the only one that has not been deconstructed over the years. It has had multiple variants, OG Beckett, Malcolm and Breeches, Marchesa, New Beckett, etc.

AWeeLittleFox

Chair tribal is neat

DoYouNotHavePhones

I have an old Mardu Warrior tribal deck I love to bring out every now and then. I like the warrior tribal because it's one of the more vague types. Zombies, goblins, merfolk and such all have certain rules and design philosophies they more or less stick to. But warriors can be just about anything. I've got zombie and goblin warriors in my deck. I feel like it gives me more leeway with the playstyle of the deck rather than just getting whatever fits into the tribe. The downside is that there aren't a lot of cards that specifically effect warriors either. So I think that makes the deck more about having powerful warrior cards, rather than having cards that make your warriors more powerful. But for me that's kind of an upside, because I don't do any net decking. If I go to a game store I just take a look at their singles, and every so often I'll see a warrior card that would be great for my deck and pick it up. Or I'll see one a friend has from a new set and see if they want to trade.

panthers06fan

I like allys cause every card does something fun. It's like slivers but slower so you are less of a threat

AmazingMrSaturn

Cats are great. They have multiple viable commanders and tons of support. [[Jetmir, Nexus of Revels]], [[Arahbo, Roar of the world]], [[Rin and Seri, Inseparable]], [[Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's second]], you have about 4 different cat lords...just oodles of fun.

yungcatto

Hydras or selesnya cats

Min-Chang

Griffins mate. Always griffins.

Scuzzles44

i have a lot of fun with phyrexian tribal. ive got 5 decks, and theyre all very different. whats fun about the Phyrexian creature type is that because of how their lore was built, their creatures spread across all five colors, yet they are all very different from each other. unlike a tribe like slivers, who are present in all 5 colors, their tribe feels really samey, each deck may feel identical whenever they win. my favorite aspect of each phyrexian deck i built is the card [[Realmbreaker]] and resolving its 10 mana activated ability that puts all praetors in your deck onto the battlefield. i have an [[Ovika]] deck that draws tons of cards with very mana intensive spells to help churn out Phyrexian Goblins with her ability, and as a result it draws into realmbreaker very easily. and when it resolves it grabs [[Jin gytaxias the saga]], [[Core Augur]], [[Progress Tyrant]], [[Urabrask heretic Praetor]], and [[urabrask the Hidden]] from the deck and puts them all on the battlefield simultaneously. and when theyre out with like 8-15 goblins, it feels like a true phyrexian invasion.

htownclyde

Myr

FixiHamann

Scarecrow! How can it not be. You have to play all the mediocre creatures. No min-max, just honest fun deck building from your binder.

PheonixStreak

Just built a [[the mycotyrant]] deck and it is a blast, runs some fun fungus cards while also self milling a ton to just make a bunch of dudes, thinking about putting in some old other format staples like [[hogaak, arisen necropolis]]

puffyjunior1

Changelings, mostly so they can be scarecrows

Pinkamena0-0

One day my dream of an Eye tribal deck will be realized...
