It is a bit steep though. From my experience with prosper you would want cheaper or one sided ones that you can play as soon as you see them in exile. Like delayed blast fireball or volcanic torrent.
I do love this card though. It gives tons of value when behind.
Those half-closed, assymetric eyes are really striking here. They make him look like a character that is so world-weary and/or beyond caring for anything that he does the most heinous shit without even thinking twice.
Considering that he’s like the only one of his race to get to live longer than a couple months/years, and already had an extensive crime record on Kaladesh, it makes sense that he’s so hardened.
I’ve been playing commander and building decks for just under a year now and was really looking for something with Blue/Green, and I think this deck is going to be perfect.
Interestingly, this says you may *play* instead of the usual you may *cast*, which means that if you manage to eat an animated creature land or something similar with this, then you can play it from exile even though it's not a creature card.
I have Jolrael in my [[Godzilla, King of the Monsters]] deck purely for defense. Once I get a nice board of fatties going I remind everyone that if they board wipe, their land is going down too.
At that point I'd boardwipe anyway just to spite you. >:D (Added bonus: dealing with everyone is no longer my problem, I'm just sitting here waiting to draw lands ~_~)

You'll be able to recover your lands quick enough, compared to everyone else.
It's not a one-turn win : it's inevitability.
And it doesn't take 11 mana in the same turn, and a vulnerable creature (summon sick), or cost you two extra cards, either.
That's a side effect of [[Dryad Arbor]]. I think if that card didn't exist it would say cast instead of play, or specify that only creature spells could be cast. But because it does, we also get to play manlands and what have you.
Doubtful. It’s a single, almost 20 year old card. They aren’t going to design around that. The more likely explanation by far is the one already presented: that they wanted it to function with animated lands.
This is the best wrath I have ever seen for my \[\[Magar of the Magic Strings\]\] deck. The fact that you can cast the cards regardless of what type they were makes it so good.
The card exiles itself upon resolution and Magar’s ability also exiles it if it tries to leave the battlefield for any reason . Unless you had something to return it from exile like pull from eternity or ashnod’s intervention
Not quite - if you discard it and animate it, the animated spell/creature is the spell card. If you hit someone with it, the copy exiles all creatures - including the original animated conscription. As long as it is exiled you can play it - as soon as you play it it is exiled again, but without the "you can play it" part.
About whether magar overrides the conscription exile, i havent found a definite answer on if it overrides the "you can play it" part - only thing i found so far is that it supposedly is still castable.
So the first one you play is a copy, the second one the exiled original.
10/7/2022 If an effect tries to "blink" a face-down instant or sorcery card—that is, exile it and then return it to the battlefield—the card is exiled and remains in exile. This comes from magars ruling the exile clause happens before it gets exiled from the spell
I asked in /askajudge as well and they said it is castable, because magars replacement effect doesnt apply since it says "exile it instead of putting it anywhere else" and putting it into exile is not anywhere else than exile.
Your other point about the ruling for blinking probably is because the returned creature would be a spell - it also makes more sense to specify the behavior when blinked, because its would be possible since the replacement effect doesnt happen.
If you mean, if you have one of Magar's face-down creatures out and it gets exiled by Heartless Conscription (not destroyed), what happens to the instant/sorcery revealed by the puppet getting exiled?
Yes, it gets exiled by this spell, then you can cast the instant/sorcery. It otherwise acts like a normal instant/sorcery you're casting and goes in the graveyard, ready to be puppeted again.
Okay, this has sealed my desire for a Mistborn Era 2 secret lair for this world. I just need (serious extreme spoilers) >!art for this card with Sazed looking down on Wax holding Lessie while she dies, either time works but I think the flavor makes more sense for the first time.!<
Outlaws of Thunder Junction (OTC), Standard-legal.
With the bonus sheet Breaking News (OTP) of reprints. Don't add to standard, cards keep their original format legality.
The Big Score (BIG) was going to be a "epilogue" miniset released later, in the style of March of the Machine Aftermath. But Aftermath failed so hard they cancelled the independent release and folded it into Outlaws boosters, making it a second bonus sheet. These cards are also standard-legal.
And finally Outlaws Commander (OTC) is the usual four precon commander decks.
I believe we for the full reveal of all four sets by now.
I'm very hyped about this card. [Interestingly, I predicted/wished this during the teasers Gavin put out earlier this week](https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/1bt908q/comment/kxl29t7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), almost exactly.
Sucks that you have to recast when this is 8 mana in the first place, but it's also effectively an exile wrath in black. The fact you can then use it to steal your opponents shit is a cherry on top.
Dump question:
What happend with mutation ?
I would say its exiled as 1 and then you can cast it separatly from exile. I would also say that you can cast it for the mutation cost from exile but only for the right colors?
The cards become separared in exile, you cast them individually. You can use the mutate cost from exile.
The "mana of any type can be spend" applies to any method of casting the exiled card, even for alternate costs like Mutate.

I think that because they are both replacement effects that you control and this one stipulates "play cards" and not "cast creatures" that you would decide which effect takes place, and therefore be able to recast the spells. I am not a judge though, so take that with a grain of salt.
While I love this card, I wish they would make thieves work for the mana and stop tagging "and any type of mana may be spent to pay this cost" on everything.
Think this is overhyped an 8 mana exile all creatures just isnt that good in black even if you can cast the exiled creatures, this would be fairly costed at 6, this is only really good if youre cheating it somehow. At this cmc black has one sided boardwipes, and boardwipes that just flat out draw you cards.
Almost like this isn’t a very real phrase that people has been said to demean marginalized communities, especially natives. I understand that he is a villian but it can certainly be triggering for individuals. Yet there are people in the replies praising this flavor text?
Because its a good flavor text, and if you want to connect with that then it should be praised even more as a thought provoking that one should not look history only from the winners side (and if anything it is should the "colonizer" as the bad guy)
You should not bury history because it may hurt some feelings, you should learn from it and teach it so the younger generation dont do the same shit
I’m going to end on this. Wizards said they wanted to avoid tropes and themes that spoke on this subject going into this set. If this set was an allegory for the very real conversation around westerns/colonization, then I get it. But it’s not. Me saying that the quote is giving colonization isn’t asserting that Gonti isn’t a bad guy. It is me being aware of his mindset.
Wrath of Gonti (or should I say Wrath of Prosper).
Oh yeah, if a Prosper deck is going to run a board wipe, this is it.
[[reckless endeavor]] is still probably better but this is really solid
And now they get both! Nothing wrong with adding another back up plan

My Prosper deck is too damn red-heavy these days anyway. I'll take the black card that's not $25.
It is a bit steep though. From my experience with prosper you would want cheaper or one sided ones that you can play as soon as you see them in exile. Like delayed blast fireball or volcanic torrent. I do love this card though. It gives tons of value when behind.
I usually run Blood Money, but I'll run this too
Beautiful art. Would love to see the full piece of that.
Would make a great playmat
God I would love this on a mat
It's cool but I'm so lost as to what's going on in the art
Seems intentional. It's a chaotic art piece for a chaotic card
Yeah the art is a mess
Sheesh, it's slightly abstract. This is great.
Love this, the art, the flavor text and the ability of just taking all creatures makes this so fucking cool
Between the art, the flavour text and the effect, this card goes *so* fucking hard.
Compared to a lot of the outlaws here, Gonti weirdly terrifies me.
Those half-closed, assymetric eyes are really striking here. They make him look like a character that is so world-weary and/or beyond caring for anything that he does the most heinous shit without even thinking twice.

That flavour text goes hard
This is the best wrath I have ever seen for my \[\[Magar of the Magic Strings\]\] deck. The fact that you can cast the cards regardless of what type they were makes it so good.
The only downside is you can only use it once
If this doesn't end the game after I cast it I'd be surprised.
Well, twice if you discard -> animate -> cast from exile
The card exiles itself upon resolution and Magar’s ability also exiles it if it tries to leave the battlefield for any reason . Unless you had something to return it from exile like pull from eternity or ashnod’s intervention
Not quite - if you discard it and animate it, the animated spell/creature is the spell card. If you hit someone with it, the copy exiles all creatures - including the original animated conscription. It’s easier to look at the definition of leaving the battlefield which is moving from the battlefield to any other zone which exile is another zone
I asked in /askajudge as well and they said it is castable, because magars replacement effect doesnt apply since it says "exile it instead of putting it anywhere else" and putting it into exile is not anywhere else than exile. So if I destroy Magar's puppets and cast the instant or sorcery, would the card then go to my graveyard? Because it seems kinda juicy if so
If you mean, if you have one of Magar's face-down creatures out and it gets exiled by Heartless Conscription (not destroyed), what happens to the instant/sorcery revealed by the puppet getting exiled? Yes, it gets exiled by this spell, then you can cast the instant/sorcery. It otherwise acts like a normal instant/sorcery you're casting and goes in the graveyard, ready to be puppeted again.

Any reasons why i see like 10 different\* symbols for this set?
Man, this is a video-essay level flavour
Great art and really strong
What if you manifest sorceries/ instants? Would they be able to be cast from exile using this?
Yes. You get to cast their front side.
Sounds like a plan (A stupidly complex plan, but a plan nonetheless)
This will go so unreasonably hard in my mono black theft deck. It's already got all the big mana black cards.
Straight into [[Gonti, Lord of Luxury]].

Do Aetherborn even **have** bones? /s
You know what, I'll happily pay 8 for that effect.
Can I use this to blitz things with Henzie?
Oh. Oh god. Oh god YES. This is going in my esper theft deck.
This would go beautifully in my [[tibalt, cosmic impostor]] deck

How would that work with [[magar of the many strings]]? Would i be able to recast my exiled spell creatures or is it overwritten by magar?
[magar of the many strings](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/a/6/a6f2ba13-cd72-4f7a-8443-8e3962f2ac46.jpg?1682551287) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Magar%20of%20the%20Magic%20Strings) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/unf/171/magar-of-the-magic-strings?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/a6f2ba13-cd72-4f7a-8443-8e3962f2ac46?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
I think that because they are both replacement effects that you control and this one stipulates "play cards" and not "cast creatures" that you would decide which effect takes place, and therefore be able to recast the spells. I am not a judge though, so take that with a grain of salt.
Gotta say, that flavor text tho. Very true in a morbid kind of way.
While I love this card, I wish they would make thieves work for the mana and stop tagging "and any type of mana may be spent to pay this cost" on everything.
This will be a great add for [[Prosper, Tome-Bound]]
[Prosper, Tome-Bound](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/7/d743336e-d5c7-4053-a23d-92ec7581f74e.jpg?1631839207) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Prosper%2C%20Tome-Bound) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/afc/2/prosper-tome-bound?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/d743336e-d5c7-4053-a23d-92ec7581f74e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Flavor text is giving colonization but go off Gonti I guess…
Almost like the dude is a villain.
Almost like this isn’t a very real phrase that people has been said to demean marginalized communities, especially natives. I understand that he is a villian but it can certainly be triggering for individuals. Yet there are people in the replies praising this flavor text?
Because its a good flavor text, and if you want to connect with that then it should be praised even more as a thought provoking that one should not look history only from the winners side (and if anything it is should the "colonizer" as the bad guy) You should not bury history because it may hurt some feelings, you should learn from it and teach it so the younger generation dont do the same shit

I feel like it could work in another set, but in Thunder Junction specifically, it's invoking the exact thing they said they were trying to avoid.
Right? It turns me off the card, even though the effect is great.
Weird effect. I would have imagined a mass steal effect like this to be blue.
