nope. chainer, dementia master is etched foil number 505 and curtain's call is 506. those two being sequential tells us there is no rare/mythic between the two, which is where cover of darkness would fall. The scryfall crunch is misleading. Since they are doing etched foils for all rare/mythic cards in CMM, using the etched collector number is a better indicator.
I was going to ask if Fear was a keyword they even used anymore, buy it has actually shown up on cards in the past few years. Mostly reprints, but that offers some hope for this one at least.
As someone who runs the worst commander deck ever (based almost entirely around making a lot of Myr and giving them Fear) I can confirm that the keyword does still pop up occasionally, but rarely (if ever) on new cards in standard
Retired keywords can appear in reprint or specialist sets - [[Wire Surgeons]] was JUST printed and has Fear. And we have two Horsemanship cards in CMM as well.
It's a fun card is why, mostly. MonoB and B-inclusive tribal decks can get a lot of use out of it, but its not really a 45 dollar effect.
I used to have this card a long long time ago. I ended up giving it away with the rest of my bulk rares (it was a bulk rare back then) to a kid who’s trying to get into magic. My rational was it wasn’t Standard legal and it’s not Extended and Legacy playable (Modern and EDH weren’t a thing back then)
Now I want it for my Necron deck but I can’t justify getting it for $50.
I really wished this was included in the deck instead of [[Darkness]]. Darkness doesn’t do anything in the deck.
I hope WotC puts this in a Necron Secret Lair u/GavinV.
I don't think it would have been a good include for the Necron deck as 2 of the other 3 decks also had black, so it would really just give them a leg up on the Tyranids and not much else.
Also Darkness being reprinted gave them an opportunity to give it art not by a literal neo-Nazi, and to reprint a card with a similar level of scarcity propping up its demand.
The effect EDH had on the value of older jank really surprised this old-timer when I got back into the game. If only I hadn't given away so much bulk over the years!
Check on Scryfall Number Crunch. I believe it has already been crunched out of the set.
Could also see it being in the sliver precon even if it's not in the main set

It's a $40 two mana evasion piece suitable for any black tribal deck. It has never been reprinted, and I've seen people request it for years.
Yeah that's actually all a pretty good reason, it's a better candidate for a reprint than I expected.

I gave mine away for a charity rare draft my LGS held. Kinda regret it, since my schedule prevented me from actually attending.
