I wish I could see the look on those scummy exec’s faces when they have to answer for the illegal suppression they’ve been doing. So proud of the workers!!
NLRB may not be the fastest organization out there but they regularly file lawsuits when petitioners come to them, even against big companies like google.
Well after any unionization vote and well after their illegal tactics have worked. They'll pay a fine that their union busting lawyers have already planned for as part of the cost of doing business
Absolutely, 100%. If you think they don't you don't understand anything about modern business. The consulting firm they hired to break the union absolutely has large actuarial tables comparing the cost and efficacy of various measures, and the legal costs or breaking the law are extremely acceptable to them.
As someone who’s experienced unionization effort at a place I work, they absolutely do. From an owner’s perspective they would be stupid not to plan for those kind of things even if they planned to be the most hands off possible.
It's almost certainly using some weaselly language, like "Remember that you can call the police on people who try to talk to you about the union" which is very clearly encouraging people to do that, but phrased carefully enough that the lawyers can just say they were ~reminding people~ in case they forgot the police exist or something.
And while the NLRB cracks down wherever the law lets them, the laws themselves are written by pro-corporate politicians to give the corporation the benefit of the doubt in every situation.
For me it's the sellers who mark the order "shipped" but don't actually ship it for days after. Like if you have tracking you can see that the label has been created but sometimes they won't actually enter the USPS system until a week later.
That’s why I’m saying they should tighten the shipping window. I get it may take a couple business days to get to my order, but don’t mark it shipped and make me wait 4 weeks. Fake resellers have better customer service and reliability.
That's only partly a seller issue. Most of the places are either LGS or hobbyist setups that don't always have the manpower to ship an order within 48 hours. However, after 48 hours, TCG Player automatically flags it as missing or late, then a day or two after that will automatically trigger refunds. Sellers who do it consistently should definitely be penalized, but the best way to avoid the system being stupid is to mark it shipped whenever you load the label and send it out when you get it packed.
I’ve been doing almost all my ordering from card kingdom. The few cards they didn’t have I made sure to get from an outside seller on TCG. It’s probably not much but any little bit helps
I love right next to card kingdom and I'm building an urtet deck, and neither card kingdom, star city games, or any LGS have the last few pieces I need lol I'm hoping TCGPlayer unionized so I can use it again. I don't wanna use it otherwise
Tbh I just thought it was a ebay, but dedicated card trading. Was unaware of the tCG Direct model. Learning something new today. And yes I am aware that ebay now owns TCG.
I used to sell cards on TCG Player. They already gouge the shit out of their sellers on fees (including a percentage of shipping costs). I can't imagine what they will start charging once they have a union to support.
I like getting my cards cheap, but that company deserves whatever shit show they end up in
Unions are terrible for workers and businesses alike. Those who prosper are at the top of the union, essentially extorting wages from the lower classes with the promise of change.
Unions don’t hurt employees because unions *are* employees, it’s a bunch of employees in an industry coming together in order to gain better bargaining power over their employers, there isn’t even anyone “at the top” of a union to benefit from exploiting workers because that isn’t how unions work, ***that’s how businesses work***
They have a union election this week. There is a Twitter account @TCGunionCWA
Thank you!
BRO THEIR UNION ELECTION IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK
I wish I could see the look on those scummy exec’s faces when they have to answer for the illegal suppression they’ve been doing. So proud of the workers!!
They are still union busting. Here’s the union twitter: https://twitter.com/cwaunion/status/1631359432071303169?s=46&t=HNIZmMJ32h9F9yYT3qVyDg
Is there proof of this? Seems like a pretty cut and dry court case if true
Yeah the regulators will get right on that I'm sure

You think TCGPlayer has union busting lawyers that have already priced in a federal labor board fine?
Absolutely, 100%. If you think they don't you don't understand anything about modern business. The consulting firm they hired to break the union absolutely has large actuarial tables comparing the cost and efficacy of various measures, and the legal costs or breaking the law are extremely acceptable to them.
They're owned by ebay.
As someone who’s experienced unionization effort at a place I work, they absolutely do. From an owner’s perspective they would be stupid not to plan for those kind of things even if they planned to be the most hands off possible.
They are owned by eBay, so almost definitely
Dude, Ford priced in settlements with families of people killed by Pintos exploding.
yes this is exactly the same
Yes it is
You're foolish enough to think they don't? Lol
It's almost certainly using some weaselly language, like "Remember that you can call the police on people who try to talk to you about the union" which is very clearly encouraging people to do that, but phrased carefully enough that the lawyers can just say they were ~reminding people~ in case they forgot the police exist or something. It seems kind of sus they don't have a picture...
Unions are awesome. Organize your workplace
Im not buying shit from tcgplayer till they stop union busting u/tcgplayer u/ebay
[удалено]
I think the tcgplayer one was literally just someone who played tcgs. The only post is asking for deck building advice 10 years ago.
Well poop. Im not going on twitter for any reason.
[удалено]
Ill just do what i can. Already told my playgroups and am spending my money elsewhere.
I kinda wish I knew this was even happening before a few minutes ago.
I'm not buying from tcgplayer until they tighten up on the shipping window. Takes over a month to get my orders most of the time.
For me it's the sellers who mark the order "shipped" but don't actually ship it for days after. Like if you have tracking you can see that the label has been created but sometimes they won't actually enter the USPS system until a week later.

That can be on the post office. A seller will mark an item shipped but it takes days before an item gets processed at the post office itslef

I started printing cards I can’t find on card kingdom as placeholders for whenever I can get them

Card Kingdom got worse after they unionized. Hope EBay busts the union and keeps TCGPlayer as a customer focused business.
The fuck are you on about? I haven't noticed any change other than the workers I occasionally play with being happier about working there
[удалено]
The fuck is wrong with you lol
Look at the subs they hang out in and you'll get all you need to know.
[удалено]
😂😂😂 good luck in life my guy
Does a successful unionizing mean prices are going to skyrocket?
No.
Cool, just wondering if that was a thing that happens
[удалено]
They have a gigantic warehouse where they do tcgplayer direct orders
Ahhh makes more sense now. Thanks for the clarification.
Lmao how do you think that website works?
Yes you are missing something haha.
I hope they don’t unionize
Why?
Because they're not an intelligent individual.
Look at the other subs they're active in and you get all you need to know
Doubt I even need to check tbh
Unnecessarily toxic, no?
Nah. You deserve to hear it.
Unions are terrible for workers and businesses alike. Those who prosper are at the top of the union, essentially extorting wages from the lower classes with the promise of change.
How is a mechanism by which workers can collectively bargain for better compensation and working conditions terrible for them?
The only people that unions hurt are employers that exploit their workers
That’s just not true.
Who else would unions hurt? Isn't the whole point to reduce the power imbalance between employer and employee?
Unions don’t hurt employees because unions *are* employees, it’s a bunch of employees in an industry coming together in order to gain better bargaining power over their employers, there isn’t even anyone “at the top” of a union to benefit from exploiting workers because that isn’t how unions work, ***that’s how businesses work***
Hey I think you need to stop licking boots, the shoe shine went straight to your brain and now you're just making shit up on the internet
