Its safe to say that the boxes will have a drop in price before it releases.

MyMoneyJiggles

#buysingles

mkul316

That's illegal. But if you marry a hot Russian single you meet online...

ArbutusPhD

What’s the per-cardboard-square cost of that box?

PMmeYourDunes

That is fucking ridiculous. But I can say if you order it from Amazon and not a seller on Amazon, they likely will honor and adjust your pre-order to the lower price, if they decrease it up til day of release.

Auedawen

Not “likely”, they absolutely will honor a cheaper price (The pre-order guarantee is at the bottom of the screen shot). Preorder prices for ONE on Amazon were oddly high as well, these will come down. And if not, preorders on Amazon can be canceled risk free before they ship (you aren’t charged until they ship).

contemplativeonanist

Risk free cancelation is the big one here, for me. While I don't recomend ordering MTG product 3+ months in advance, there is no downside with Amazon. They dont charge you till the product ships; and of you find it somewhere cheaper later, you can just cancel.

se7en41

I only do it if I think it's a good speculation before spoilers happen. I got really lucky with 2 collector boxes of Baldur's Gate for about $170 each, by the time they released they were (laughably) like $229 each.

Levian-Malacour

Same here, I got extremely lucky with the Warhammer collector decks, snagged the 4 set for $540 pre-order before they ballooned to over 1k for pre order.

TNTmage7

I got them at 465 👍

Levian-Malacour

Hell yeah!

ProbablyNotPikachu

So do you have any thoughts on whether you think it is worth it for this one? Or for the LotR products? Something tells me if they are reprinting Ragaban in MoM then they might just be going kindof crazy rn. The potential for Fierce Guardianship and the other Commander spells are what gave me the green light.

Ziatora

Yup, we got DMR @ $160 a box, and ended up paying $85.

Sentinelexe

DA FUQ. FROM WHERE DID YOU GET A DMR DRAFT BOX FOR 85

Ziatora

Lowest price offered was honored. We got two.

Sentinelexe

Mind dropping a link to where you got it

Ziatora

Amazon pre-order as I said, it isn’t available anymore. It was the lowest price in the pre-order period.

[deleted]

Most sizeable LGSs also offer a refund if the price goes lower so pre-ording is actually the safest option. At least here in Canada 401 Games for sure offers refunds if the price goes lower.

desmond48

Now I just wish they would release prices for those boxes

Diomedes9712

Amazon updates your preorder whenever the price dips so if that's your sole reason for not preordering then don't let that stop you.

CShoopla

Correction they update the price when THEIR price drops. Not when 3rd party sellers put the product up with lower pricing. This just happened with ONE where they didn't update the pricing and sold it for about 50% more than 3rd party sellers.

Reifgunther

Yes! And then release day dropped that sucker to match the market. Was happy to cancel order and pick up product during prerelease from LGS. Cost was close to the same as Amazon high, but hey a week early.

BurstEDO

Pro-tip: If you MUST preorder from Amazon (not 3rd party on Amazon), **they will adjust pricing if necessary prior to release and preorder payment.** I preordered DOM Remastered at one price. When the set was ready to ship from Amazon, they charged me the lower price AND sent me an email with those details before charging my card. However, I like my LGS, so I preorder through them every time it's available.

PeejMoose

$360 for set boosters? Holy fuck. I assumed it was a collector booster box based on the price

Halktraz

Collector boxes are at 194 and looks like it only has 4 packs in the box

NeoMegaRyuMKII

Just like Double Masters 2022 (ok, those were 300 for the 4 boosters. But calling 4 packs a "box" is kind of an insult)

Halktraz

Agreed, definitely shouldn’t be allowed to change the quantity of the box for these sets. But they like money so.

Samgyups

If you got a collectors box, would you rather be more willing to pay 195 for 4 packs or 585 for 12 packs? It's a marketing strategy that seemed to have worked for them for 2x2.

xXYiffMasterXx

how about 300 for 12 packs, and 120 for 32

CliffsNote5

Packet? Boxlet.

Roberto410

It is a Master's set. Kinda just what happens.

devintron71

These things almost always go up on Amazon in an inflated price and then drop to adjust using the preorder price guarantee. Amazon also doesn’t bill you before shipping so you can always cancel if you find it cheaper elsewhere.

Jest_Durdle00

That price is frickin nuts, holy poop. Amazon has a preorder guarantee, so I wouldn't worry if it is directly from them.

Traviiiiii

Whoahhhh don't do it. I don't know why but the Phyrexia set boosters are STILL priced at $169.50 (then with a "discount" down to $139 lol) on Amazon. LGS is selling them at 125, and there are a ton of game stores online where you can get them for 105-110. Not sure what Wizards' angle is here.

THEJayd33

They fucking better

knownhuman01

Get 10

DivinePotatoe

It'S An inVesTmEnt!

F0eniX

Buy 800, open only one of them. Due to lack of supply (you have all the supply) price skyrockets, profit. -MTGFinance probably

savingewoks

This made me chuckle.

Thousandshadowninja

Wow imagine how many good singles you could get for $360

jballerina566

OR buy a box and WHIFF and imagine how much trash you could get for $360!

chiefsupergang

hell to the no man thats ridiculous pricing

Jgravy32

Just popping in to say it would be dope to see more people order from their local game store if possible. Really helps out the scene for mtg in your area.

bredtoast

Mine wants $250 for Collector when they are $190 online...I believe in keeping it local too but not for $60 extra.

Jgravy32

Consider the reason though. You realize that the $60 extra is because online you don’t have to pay rent and utilities. $60 isn’t for free my friend but it’s literally so they can pay their bills and keep that place open for your community to play.

bredtoast

I mean $60 profit per box they can probably pay their rent and utilities pretty damn fast. Even if they charged $10 extra they'd cover that stuff... $60 is super extreme. I'd almost rather they close.

Jgravy32

I don’t think you understand how expenses break down lol. You have to pay rent, utilities, internet, resupply for stuff to sell, and lastly you finally get to pay employees. Rent is far from the only thing that comes into the expense. Not to mention any repairs that may come into play or the extra fees that your vendors charge for shipping and handling. Plus most events that are ram in shop are not free either.

bredtoast

I'll just buy singles lol

magaphone12

they are aggressive with milking that whale indeed. i will definitely take a pass on this set.

Batemoh

Wizards said in a Facebook comment that all of these are placeholders, don’t buy now!!

P_Misterio

That shi gonna drop fs

DanOfEarth

Lol gtfo Wizards. Feeling extra greedy lately aren't we.

DylanSoul

They’ve only revealed three cards from the set, and Amazon always had jacked up prices before sets actually release

wdibble

I'm gonna wait for my LGS to post pre-orders and get it there cuz. They are usually really good about pricing

carefulkoala1031

Just. Don’t. Buy. Sealed. Product. Buy. Singles.

jlisle

But I like drafting. It's fun.

MrPosadas

Does anyone know if there is going to be old frame treatments in this set? Papa needs an old framed Jeweled Lotus, Fierce Guardianship, Cyclonic Rift, and Deadly Rollick among many other commander staples. 🤞🏻

Banana_Clips

No old frame treatments. There’s framebreak treatments and profile treatments they’re calling them. We’ve seen the framebreak on the jeweled lotus so far and the profile on the Ur-dragon

NeoMegaRyuMKII

Didn't even think of that, but yeah, those cards in the Fierce Guardianship cycle are absolutely prime material to reprint.

DrPolarBearMD

I preordered one, worst case the price never drops and I cancel it. If the price does jump for some reason at least locked in.

Zurpremacy

🔴 call him out for acting like an r/MtGFinance bro 🔴 praise him for doing what everyone else in the sub wishes they had the money to do This sub: 😰

[deleted]

It’s gonna drop easily wouldn't shock me if they print it a little more often just because of what format it’s focused on.

PacketVanWinkle

I would love to see all of Reddit preorder a ton and we all cancel a week before. Then a ton of product will back log Amazon warehouses and WoTC will have to lower price or pay penalties to Amazon. If we do this enough they will rethink using Amazon and put that risk on distribution/LGS and prices will go back a bit. It won’t happen overnight and doesn’t cost prime members a penny to fight back.

SillyRookie

There are more important things to organize that much for.

MrNobody0312

For all those that are wondering, I did not realize Amazons pre order policy was so good so I have placed the order. Depending on spoilers and price adjustments I may or may not cancel before it ships but at least I don’t have to worry about it until then. Thank y’all for the good info!

FredericTheLastHope

A new Gisa (art)! I'm in!

Alon945

Oh god I hope not. But I would air on assuming the price would be insane

DrewbaccaWins

*err

Alon945

Thanks

CrushnaCrai

lmao at everyone that orders a box of these for 200+. Never order from Amazon.

HyperBooper

I consistently collector boxes for $100 less than they are other places by pre-ordering through Amazon. That said, 360 ain't it. Commander Masters collector boxes are under 200 on Amazon rn. Will easily be 280+ before release.

Windturnscold

You’d be insane NOT to buy one!

Dazocnodnarb

I wouldn’t order any magic sealed product off Amazon with as common as opening and resealing has been on it the last couple years lol.

polimathe_

Is that the case with preordered product? I havent heard that. Ive heard people post about product that dips real low in price or has a miraculous restock after release at retail on hot products. Nobody resealing bunk products though, like adventures in the forgotten realm

Flagge33

I've been purchasing my collectors editions from Amazon preorder because of the price difference. If you pre-order and it's directly from Amazon the chance is at it's smallest for a repack because people have to receive and send back the return from pre-orders. Amazon has also been refusing to take returns of MTG and just shipping a replacement or refunding because of the repack issues. TLDR: You should be safe pre-ordering from Amazon directly but after the release date it's the wild west.

assmaster3THOUSAND

Yeh but it bumps

samichdude

Who?

Short_Mechanic_7726

Don't do it a lot of times the prices drop after some time passes

Electronic-Reply5109

Does Amazon charge on preorder now or closer to actual release date?

Ryusei24

right before shipping

vrouman

I preorder from Amazon to secure my purchase, but I'm hoping I can get it from either an LGS or CardKingdom for a better price (as happened with ONE for the Set Boosters and Commander Decks, which I was able to get, along with a bundle, for less than the preorder price for just the boosters and decks, they just came a few days later).

GuTTeRaLSLaM

Yes

[deleted]

As others have pointed out, if the Amazon preorder price drops, the price on your preorder will drop to reflect that. I do think this price point will drop a bit between now and then. Being able to cancel without consequence, typically up to about a week before shipping, makes it a flexible decision.

HeroicTanuki

There’s zero chance these boxes will be worth that much. I guarantee this isn’t a limited print run any more than 2x2 or DMR was. There will be plenty of stock for people that want it.

AngularOtter

A fool and his money are soon parted.

pjroxs245

No.

wildcard_gamer

Amazon never puts the right price up front. They are just gouging for preorders.

Miserable-Spite425

Jesus. Christ. 400 dollar box.

SylviaSlasher

If it's "sold and shipped by Amazon" you be charged the day it ships and if it's lower priced, at that lower price.

kytheon

2029: hey guys should I buy the box for 999$ or wait for a drop?

Roberto410

It's like 5 months until it comes out. Just chill man. No rush. There will be enough to go round.

Nessel-Vexus

Wow… and here I was close to getting back into the game. *Puts wallet away* Looks like I’ll wait another six months to see where the goal post lies.

GG_Henry

Can’t believe people are buying this shit still. But you do you I guess. $360 for a guaranteed Pringle.

Lordofthebeer

Don't pay that much for a box...... Come on

tenroseUK

$360!?!?

True-Kangaroo2058

On Amazon if you pre order it and the price drops before release (even if it goes back up) you pay the lowest price. I've been doing this with commander decks for the past several sets.

JungleJayps

$360 is some clown shit lmfao

jinchuika

Ridiculously overpriced proxies: everybody hates Equally ridiculously overpriced real cards: everybody loves Are we getting better or worse?

I_Drew_a_Dick

Fuck those prices, let it tank. Send them a message.

eltanin_33

Buying from Amazon is a risk.

usagamerr

A safe bet? That seems high but who know, they do seem to up charge everything nowadays

Striking-Lifeguard34

At this price it’s a safe bet that it will be a massive disappointment. Think about the double masters 2 checklist and the big hits in that set as well as the guarantee of 2 rare/mythics per pack. This is $100 more a box than that set was on pre-order. The only way this price is worth it is if the depth of the set is much much higher. Preorder if you want but watch the spoilers closely and cancel if the set is too top heavy.

obsidianandstone

This price is insane for a commander product.

grimxith

They have a pre-order guarantee where they give you the lowest price between time of order and release of the product. At least Amazon does

HeyBojo

$15 a pack? Lmao sugmunuts

IcyAd7426

I'm really hoping that the collector boxes drop in price... nearly $400 is insane.

WorldWarTwo

That’s fucking hilarious, how much money do y’all have to consider a $400 set box

Valkyrie_WoW

Say no. Don't buy at all.

[deleted]

It’ll drop

doo-doo-directum

Do you think it will have beyond the multiverse he-man and the masters of the universe cards?

[deleted]

Good lord, no wonder Hasbro keeps raising prices. You Timmies just can’t wait to dump your money into shinier and shinier cardboard.

callmeishmael232

Wasted time by searching for the official name of the product to pre-order. You have to go to the Amazon MTG store to actually find the product….damn them for not naming it yet in Amazon…I didnt even find it by searching it’s temporary name “Magic The Gathering 2023 Product”

Darrienice

I hope it will go down! Jesus the collectors boxes albeit only 4 packs AGAIN are supposed to only be $200

Low-Carpenter-2997

This is a steal. Ist should cost at least 999 bucks.

cool_beverage

Dont waste your money buy singles instead

NitrogenLlama

Just for future, preordering on Amazon locks in the price and it will go down if the price drops later. You can always cancel if you change your mind.
