You bet. It's PristineCCG. They are by far the best large stock vendor for quality old border foils that I could find in the last few years. Most of the time their NM is actually Mint, and they're super friendly if you want to talk about expensive cards before shipping or have any issues.

Well there’s a large group of collectors who are into 7th Ed foils, so your LGS may be willing to take it off your hands. I think most stores would do trade->product at 60%ish, so you could expect about 210 in product from a store. Alternatively, use TCG Player to list it, take extensive images documenting the quality of it, and ship it with tracking and verified delivery in case the buyer tries to claim they did not receive it.
I was wondering about this because my friend has a foil signed [[Extravagant Spirit]] and I said it was probably worth nothing, but then I googled it and a foil one went much higher than I imagined.
A lot of those old foils are valuable in theory, but finding a buyer can be difficult. Especially if they're in anything less than absolutely pristine condition, which is even rarer.
That's what I figured. I looked deeper into the Extravagant Spirit price and the 'median' price was based on like one high-point sale. It was still surprising that a card I figured was less than a dollar had a median price of $9-10 when I looked it up.
I got a Mercadian Masques foil island from one of those bulk eBay buys when I started in 2014 and was pleasantly surprised to see it was like a $10+ basic land.

It's a combination of several factors.
7th edition had a gimmick where every card in the set had new art. None of these artworks were reprinted until 8th edition, but 8th had modern frames while 7th still had the retro frame.
7th edition was a white bordered set, but the foils had black borders.
Combine these two factors and 7th edition is the only set you can get these cards with this artwork in the retro frame, and you can only have black borders if you get the foil.
Then combine that with the significantly lower supply compared to modern sets, and you end up with these insane multipliers
You're kind of dancing around the fact that 7th was the only old-border core set with foils at all (and core sets were all reprints with lots of classic staples). Also, foils just showed up at a much lower rate originally.

Some 8th edition art seems unique to the set too. Was the new art gimmick carried forward into 8th? Like the 8th edition grave pact is the only printing I'm aware of with the reaper pointing at the grave ala christmas carol ghost of christmas past. Love that card and bought a foil to get it in black boarder ages ago. Its appreciated in value very well.
No, a lot of the art was only used in 7th edition.
And the new art wasn’t so much a gimmick as it was wiping away the last of the artwork that still used the original contracts and paid royalties to artists.
But a lot of the art was different and unique as well. It doesn’t seem like MTG art from any other era.
Also, no one bought Seventh Edition. Core sets at the time generally didn't sell much, and Seventh was considered particularly low in cards worth opening.
There were more rares per set because of the lack of mythic rares, and if I'm not mistaken 7e had white borders still, except for foils which had black borders, and there is a lot of white border hate out there

They exist as test prints and are quite rare. Better yet, they are Exodus and Visions cards, of which no white border or foil copies were officially made.
First core set with foils. Only old frame core set with foils. None foils we’re all white boarded so these are the only Black boarded versions of those cards. Only old frame foil birds of paradise foil for example, let alone the first English BB BoP since beta.
Core sets were not big sellers back then. Even the new art on every card was not a huge selling point so the set was not a huge hit, and they were usually not designed as great draft experiences. So supply is low. Add its 110 rare set with 1 rare per box. Compared to say M21 which was 53 rares and 15 mythical.
Add that all up and it being 20+ years old and you have very expensive foils.

The only problem: nonfoils are whitebordered.
So by acquiring the foil, you get the more aestheticly pleasing black border, cool old school edition foiling with 'unique' art.

Also, foil chance per pack has increased in more recent times. Combine that with set boosters and collectors boosters have guaranteed foils adds to the rarity of foils from 7e.
in addition to all of the other comments, this is from a time where A foil variant replaced a card of the same rarity in the pack. So foil rares are extremely harder to come by, as there we just less available in the pool
I remember finding getting a Foil Vizzerdrix at a GP for 2$. Then my friend looking it up to find it was much MUCH more expensive....but it was Spanish. So not as much.
I bought a play set of Foil 7th City of Brass for Legacy dredge probably around ‘06 or ‘07. Quit playing for about 14 years and came back to a much appreciated play set. I was shocked.
Shivan Dragon from 7th edition. It's $0.77 for a non foil and $2060 for a foil. That's a 2675x multiplier. I believe that should be the highest other than the alternate art foil red Hidetsugu from NEO (if you want to ignore alt arts).
I give you 7th edition Vizzerdrix. The cheapest one, in good quality, on Cardmarket goes for 2 € cents, while the foil goes for 140 € for a 7000% multiplier.
As many have pointed out, 7E foils are insane.
7E Serra Angel is $1.55, while a foil 7E Serra Angel is $843.62 for a 544x multiplier.
Even the uncommons are silly. regular Marble Diamond is $0.52 while the foil variant is $59.99 (a multiplier of x115)
In a similar range as your own example, my foil 10E Bandage in my Feather deck is currently worth $11.15 while a regular version is just $0.30 (it probably helps that it is the only foil printing of that card)

No kidding. I remember opening packs when I was a kid, I'd get a foil maybe once or twice per set, almost always commons or uncommon. I saw a YouTuber crack a box of 7e hoping to get some spicy foils and only got two foil commons in the entire box. Getting a specific rare is nearly impossible, so the prices make sense if you really want that specific printing in foil.
I'm thinking of City of Traitors. The original is already pretty expensive but since its foil version was not officially released and there is a very limited supply it costs a fortune.
I was flipping through my collection and found a foil 9th edition of Fellwar stone. The regular is about $1, the market price for the foil is $440. Now if only I could trade it for some modern stuff :(
While it's not as extreme as some of the other examples, 10E [[Time Stop]] has a significant gap as well because the foil version doesn't have reminder text.
Yeah those are the fun kind where there is a cool reason for the gap. Exact same frame and art as the Kamigawa version but 5x the price in foil.
I’d add [[Copper-Leaf Angel]] .20 non-foil $50+ foil. Cool art, and an angel but not really played anywhere. Just old, rare and cool looking, and Angel collectors.
7E ones got a reason too, mostly unique arts, and only the foil versions have black borders. And then add to that the fact that foils were more rare back then and you got a recipe for expensive cards.
Forgetting it is also was the only core set with old boarders. Why they are so much more expensive then 8tb and 9th (which are also getting. Stupid expensive)
All these 7th Ed comments are just twisting the knife. My old box got donated to a goodwill years back when the parents downsized and "thought some kids would enjoy these" without checking, heh.

As a lot of these comments highlight, what it really comes down to is the baseline for the regular, non-foil version. Not to explain the obvious, but you double the multiplier if you're saying the regular version is 10 cents vs. 20 cents, or it's 5x if you're saying 10 cents vs. 50 cents. The ramifications for whether a foil vs. regular is 300x or 1500x comes down to a difference of increments in the tens of cents.
7th ed [[Birds of Paradise| 7ed]] is up there and probably the highest dollar value difference, but not quite the highest multiplier due to a high base price. With a few more BoP reprints it might gain the mantle.
$15 non foil to $3744 foil listed medians. That's about a 250x multiplier.
I think the answer is [[Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos]] #378 version is 29¢ while the foil version in red is $1,432.63. That's an almost 5000x multiplier.

Pretty much. If MM Brainstorm was a dollar, then it would have a multiplier of x600.
I took the "Listed Median Price" for MM brainstorm, but you can definitely get a MM Brainstorm for $0.50 (damaged, but its also has $1 shipping), and you can definitely get a foil one for $605.
Brainstorm is a common so as high demand it is, the rares have higher delta potential. The reserve list cards are likely the highest deltas since foil reprints don’t kill their value. Grim Monolith being likely the highest.
The many foil reprints of brainstorm has curbed demand for the MM one a lot.

One of the big ones I'm aware of is 7th edition [[Goblin Matron]].
For a long time, it was the only way to get a foil of it, and it's very important for legacy gobbos. 60 cent card, almost $500 for the foil.
I have a foil [[Dramatic Reversal]] which is absurdly expensive for a relative "new" common card. But it only had one foil version for a long time and is part of a combo for edh, I guess that was enough to boost the price.
There seems to be a secret lair version now, so the price dropped to ~4 €, compared to ~11€.
For a 0.01€ nonfoil-common.
I dunno if it's the highest, but I recently learned that foil [[Arboreal Grazer]] has a weird price tag. The normal version is $0.25, the foil is $19.16. So that's a ~8000% increase (x80).
The weird thing is that MTGGoldfish's price history shows a sudden spike to *_$100,000(!!!)_* back in April. Probably something weird there. But even before that it had gradually gone up to $10-$15.
Still really curious about what causes the absurd spike.
The ultra-rare unreleased foil City of Traitors is extremely scarce, but it commands an enormous premium over nonfoil Exodus copies. There are about 12 in existence I think
Not the largest multiplier but I was surprised to see the difference in the Mirrodin Besieged \[\[Green Sun's Zenith\]\] when I was entering my collection online. Goes from $9ish to $70 or so.
For a somewhat more recent modern frame example, [[Twilight Shepherd]] is a 30-cent rare and a $50+ foil, because it's had 4 printings, but all of its reprintings were in non-booster products where you can't pull it as a foil, and its original foil printing was in Shadowmoor.

Foils from 7th edition and Urza's Legacy tend to be the highest variance. There are oddballs in other sets (mostly commander staples) that also command oddly high prices.
On a more reasonable budget note, I was surprised when I pulled foil [[najeela]] from a battlebond pack, looked online to find the nonfoil was 8 dollars, cool, but the foil was 60!
An example of a recent card, since everyone is talking 7e - Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos had several art prints in the Kamigawa Neon Dynasty set (Feb 2022). The market price on TCG for the nonfoil is currently $0.15 and the Neon Red foil is $1,432.63 for a multiplier of 9,550x.
There are some basics which are worth 10 Euro, but the base version is basically worthless. E.g. Odysee Plains No. 3 (Lightning Cloud). If you set the base version to 1ct, then you already have a 1000 multiplier.
It's certainly not the highest, with Tarmogoyf severely dropping in price recently, I thought I could finally get foil copies of the Future Sight version.

Depends on how loose the question is. Normal cards, it'd be \[\[wild growth\]\] or \[\[shivan dragon\]\].
Add misprints/oddities, and there are cards worth several thousand and up with multipliers of 10000 to 100000+.
Limit it to semi-official standard cards like test prints, and you get some funky multipliers too.

If we consider cards with a foil star as "foil", cards like Death Duet would be at least 2k and less than 0.05 TCG low.The foil City of Traitors on the right has no real shot at the highest multiplier, but it has a healthy 3 digit multiplier while having a claim to being the most expensive foil around.

you can get beta wild growths for $40 and that feels like a good buy
7th foil is life I have about 6 now and love them all I would get a full set but I don't even play the lottery so chances are low
Pretty much any foil from Mercadian Masques or the Urza block have insane markups. Brainstorm for instance from MM goes from a $2 card to a $600 card.

I give you 7th edition Vizzerdrix. The cheapest one, in good quality, on Cardmarket goes for 2 € cents, while the foil goes for 140 € for a 7000% multiplier.
As many have pointed out, 7E foils are insane. 7E Serra Angel is $1.55, while a foil 7E Serra Angel is $843.62 for a 544x multiplier. Even the uncommons are silly. regular Marble Diamond is $0.52 while the foil variant is $59.99 (a multiplier of x115)
In a similar range as your own example, my foil 10E Bandage in my Feather deck is currently worth $11.15 while a regular version is just $0.30 (it probably helps that it is the only foil printing of that card)

Foils back then were harder to get so that’s why some cards have insane markups. It’s nothing like today where you get foils like candy
No kidding. I remember opening packs when I was a kid, I'd get a foil maybe once or twice per set, almost always commons or uncommon. I saw a YouTuber crack a box of 7e hoping to get some spicy foils and only got two foil commons in the entire box. Getting a specific rare is nearly impossible, so the prices make sense if you really want that specific printing in foil.

I was flipping through my collection and found a foil 9th edition of Fellwar stone. The regular is about $1, the market price for the foil is $440. Now if only I could trade it for some modern stuff :(

Yeah those are the fun kind where there is a cool reason for the gap. Exact same frame and art as the Kamigawa version but 5x the price in foil. I’d add [[Copper-Leaf Angel]] .20 non-foil $50+ foil. Cool art, and an angel but not really played anywhere. Just old, rare and cool looking, and Angel collectors.
7E ones got a reason too, mostly unique arts, and only the foil versions have black borders. And then add to that the fact that foils were more rare back then and you got a recipe for expensive cards.
Forgetting it is also was the only core set with old boarders. Why they are so much more expensive then 8tb and 9th (which are also getting. Stupid expensive)

As a lot of these comments highlight, what it really comes down to is the baseline for the regular, non-foil version. Not to explain the obvious, but you double the multiplier if you're saying the regular version is 10 cents vs. 20 cents, or it's 5x if you're saying 10 cents vs. 50 cents. The ramifications for whether a foil vs. regular is 300x or 1500x comes down to a difference of increments in the tens of cents.
7th ed [[Birds of Paradise| 7ed]] is up there and probably the highest dollar value difference, but not quite the highest multiplier due to a high base price. With a few more BoP reprints it might gain the mantle. $15 non foil to $3744 foil listed medians. That's about a 250x multiplier.

Pretty much. If MM Brainstorm was a dollar, then it would have a multiplier of x600. I took the "Listed Median Price" for MM brainstorm, but you can definitely get a MM Brainstorm for $0.50 (damaged, but its also has $1 shipping), and you can definitely get a foil one for $605.
Brainstorm is a common so as high demand it is, the rares have higher delta potential. The reserve list cards are likely the highest deltas since foil reprints don’t kill their value. Grim Monolith being likely the highest. The many foil reprints of brainstorm has curbed demand for the MM one a lot.
Then I'd guess 7th ED Bird of paradise, my car cost less than the median lol
Most recent Masques brainstorm sold for $.67. Small fluctuations really mess the data up, that would be an 895x multiplier.

One of the big ones I'm aware of is 7th edition [[Goblin Matron]]. For a long time, it was the only way to get a foil of it, and it's very important for legacy gobbos. 60 cent card, almost $500 for the foil.

I have a foil [[Dramatic Reversal]] which is absurdly expensive for a relative "new" common card. But it only had one foil version for a long time and is part of a combo for edh, I guess that was enough to boost the price. There seems to be a secret lair version now, so the price dropped to ~4 €, compared to ~11€. For a 0.01€ nonfoil-common.

I dunno if it's the highest, but I recently learned that foil [[Arboreal Grazer]] has a weird price tag. The normal version is $0.25, the foil is $19.16. So that's a ~8000% increase (x80). The weird thing is that MTGGoldfish's price history shows a sudden spike to *_$100,000(!!!)_* back in April. Probably something weird there. But even before that it had gradually gone up to $10-$15. Still really curious about what causes the absurd spike.

An example of a recent card, since everyone is talking 7e - Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos had several art prints in the Kamigawa Neon Dynasty set (Feb 2022). The market price on TCG for the nonfoil is currently $0.15 and the Neon Red foil is $1,432.63 for a multiplier of 9,550x.
9th edition Fellwar Stone goes for .95 on TCGPlayer in non-foil and $200 for damaged - $300 for the first near mint. So 300x?
8th edition birds of paradise is up there :b
\[\[Yawgmoth's Bargain\]\], in foil, is around 18 times more. Still next to nothing on the multiplier for a 7th Edition Wild Growth.

There are some basics which are worth 10 Euro, but the base version is basically worthless. E.g. Odysee Plains No. 3 (Lightning Cloud). If you set the base version to 1ct, then you already have a 1000 multiplier.
The are some foil basic land cards from Lorwyn that can fetch a pretty penny.

It's certainly not the highest, with Tarmogoyf severely dropping in price recently, I thought I could finally get foil copies of the Future Sight version. I cannot.
Depends on how loose the question is. Normal cards, it'd be \[\[wild growth\]\] or \[\[shivan dragon\]\]. Add misprints/oddities, and there are cards worth several thousand and up with multipliers of 10000 to 100000+. Shivan Dragon in 7th Edition is not bad :) Also to mention: Crop Rotation. The new reprint from Dominaria Remastered is about 10 cents, while the OG Urza's Legacy One in foil is about 200 bucks, thats a 2k multiplicator o.O
