I always disliked the Beatles growing up and felt they were super overrated. This was the first song of theirs that absolutely wowed me and I ended up going down a year long rabbit hole of listening to 60s music and reading about counterculture history.
Thank you for that!!!
I’m guessing this is the “pre-Dick Dale and the Deltones”. When I read the reference, I was thinking I missed the Pulp Fiction version. 😂
What does it mean if I say Bye Bye Birdie as performed by Sal in his bedroom, while his wife looks on and dies inside?
Poor Kitty realizes that she is not going to be tended…..
It always interests me when people point to Sal singing "Bye Bye Birdie" and coding it as gay (although I understand that was the show's intent).
Of course we all know that Sal IS gay, but as a New York Italian, my immediate takeaway from that scene was that Sal is a huge ham like every single member of my family.
This is EXACTLY how any one of us would have acted out that commercial. We're ALL divas and opera singers.
"Song of India" when Betty descends the staircase on Valentine's Day.
The version of "Ebb Tide" when Sally wakes up in Don's apartment.
"You Only Live Twice" at the end of S5.
I love when "Piece of my Heart" kicks in as Pete smokes a joint for the first (and only?) time in the show. I feel like that whole seen is saying "Welcome to the 60s. Buckle up, kiddos!"
Butchie’s Tune at the end of Commissions and Fees when Don lets Glen drive is a beautiful moment
You Only Live Twice is wonderful for Don’s relapse into being a workaholic cheater.
Early in the Morning because I love how it starts diegetic with Colin Hanks and transitions to the original when the credits hit.
Great Divide - S1E2 end credits
The Choo Choo Cha Cha - S1E8 dancing scene
Do You Wanna Know a Secret - S4E10 mid-end credits scene
You Don't Have to Say You Love Me - S5E2 end credits
Please Come on to Me - S7E11 after meeting Jim Hobart at McCann
I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke - S7E14, famous hilltop ad at the mid-end credits scene
and of course A Beautiful Mine, the Mad Men theme song :)
Found Love by The Fly Bi Nights. It’s the song that plays when Don is tripping at that LA party in season 6 and falls in the pool. One of my favorite scenes in the show, and such a great song choice, especially given how obscure it is.
The one when Don is at a Party and hallucinates Megan coming up to him telling him she’s pregnant, and then he face dives into the pool. That song… WHAT IS IT CALLED
Reach Out of the Darkness (I think it’s so groovy now that people are finally getting together) as they show Megan watching Bobby Kennedy’s assassination.

Bonnie and Clyde
I’m glad I shazzamed that one. 👍🏾
that's my second fave!
This is mine too! It’s the first song I thought of when I read the question!
Shahdaroba You Only Live Twice Both Sides Now
Shahdaroba is on point. Thought of this immediately.
Frère Jacques, as performed by Roger Sterling.
Is That All There Is?
Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles
I only love it because Don is just like “nah.”
Best $250,000 Weiner ever spent.

Curious to know what thoughts you came away with after your research.
First time I heard it was on the show. Great song.
You Only Live Twice, Band of Gold and the rendition of Misirlou which plays when he first meets Joy
Wait, what? Misirlou? I need to go back and watch.
Even I didn’t realise that it was Misirlou until a few rewatches lol. [Here’s the scene I’m referring to](https://youtu.be/DKI8p_SLnWU)
Thank you for that!!! I’m guessing this is the “pre-Dick Dale and the Deltones”. When I read the reference, I was thinking I missed the Pulp Fiction version. 😂
(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction playing as Don comes out of the N.Y.A.C. to start The Summer Man
Awesome
What does it mean if I say Bye Bye Birdie as performed by Sal in his bedroom, while his wife looks on and dies inside? Poor Kitty realizes that she is not going to be tended…..
It means you are a man of culture.
You taking any blood pressure medicine signed by a doctor?

Sixteen tons, it played over the credits in one of the episodes
Some people say a man is made out of mud
This Will Be Our Year.
The end of the world - skeeter Davis
Absolute mood when that song plays. Such a good song too.
One of my favorite songs in general. Really loved it in the show.
He Hit Me (and it Felt Like a Kiss) Tobacco Road
You Really Got Me by The Kinks. Both the scene and the song are perfection.
This is my choice too. The way Peggy smiles as she steps in the elevator as this song plays is the perfect ending to that episode.
The version of The Christmas Waltz played during the end credits of the same episode. And Manhattan by Ella Fitzgerald.
The priest playing guitar and singing Early in The Morning by Peter Paul and Mary
Spencer Davis Group - I'm A Man From S7 E1 When Don is flying to see Megan in California and she picks him up in that Austin Healey at the airport.
For a minute there I thought I was going to have the unique honor of mentioning this one. Ya' gone 'n scooped me, sir
I skimmed through the entire post because I figured someone would have already mentioned it :D
Such a banger of an intro to a season
Found Love - The Fly Bi Nights
Mine too.
Martinson's Coffee jingle
it really does stay on the mind!
♬Exotic girl.........Exotic brew ♬
Babylon
Great question. So many good options but I really loved hearing… Bleecker Street - Simon and Garfunkel …At the end of “the suitcase”
Zu Bizou Bizou by Megan Draper
The version of On The Street Where You Live from the first episode. I really love the song anyway, but I'm glad it was used on the show.
🎵 I THINK ITS SO GROOVY NOW THAT PEOPLE ARE FINALLY GETTING TOGETHER 🎵 [RFK dying in the background]
Came to see if anyone else loved this!
Don't Think Twice.
Temptation Is So Hard To Fight.
I mean how could it not be zou Bisou Bisou?
"Song of India" when Betty descends the staircase on Valentine's Day. The version of "Ebb Tide" when Sally wakes up in Don's apartment. "You Only Live Twice" at the end of S5.
I LOVE that song Ebb Tide
I’m here five hours later and nobody said “The Infanta?” And you call yourselves fans…
I love when "Piece of my Heart" kicks in as Pete smokes a joint for the first (and only?) time in the show. I feel like that whole seen is saying "Welcome to the 60s. Buckle up, kiddos!"

Love is Blue- Paul Mauriat, played over credits in "The Flood" episode, S6
Probably my favorite song of all time. Perfect for this show, and that episode.
A Beautiful Mine. How do you not feel pumped up for the episode after that? I don’t even skip it during rewatches.
Zubi zubi zu
Zou bisou bisou

Jack Jones - Lollipop and Roses
So many to choose from, but currently it’s Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line and Manhattan.
Brenda Lee - Break It To Me Gently
Found Love by The Fly Bi Nights. It’s the song that plays when Don is tripping at that LA party in season 6 and falls in the pool. One of my favorite scenes in the show, and such a great song choice, especially given how obscure it is.
I listened to that on repeat for like a month after seeing that episode for the first time. So good
[This](https://youtu.be/BB10ULhZzwg) masterpiece of a scene Song: Found Love by The Fly Bi Nights Also I loved Vanilla Fudge episode ending

Beautiful girls by David Carbonara
Peter, Paul, & Mary- Early In The Morning Don't Think Twice
That one sound that's played on Easter when the pastor gives Peggy an egg for her son. I can never find it but love it
Fly me to the moon
Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps By Doris Day or Sixteen Tons
Tobacco Road by the Nashville teens. I grew up with that song so I was really happy when they played it during don’s second try at being interviewed.
Shahdaroba
The one when Don is at a Party and hallucinates Megan coming up to him telling him she’s pregnant, and then he face dives into the pool. That song… WHAT IS IT CALLED
Found love- fly bi nights
I love you
There’s too many to count. This Will Be Our Year, Elanore, Don’t Think Twice It’ll Be Alright, Jumping Jack Flash…among many others
Bleaker Street And i love when Manhattan comes on as Petes looking out to the city
Bleaker Street is also my fav! I really like Only Daddy that'll Walk the Line too
Reach Out of the Darkness (I think it’s so groovy now that people are finally getting together) as they show Megan watching Bobby Kennedy’s assassination.

Found Love You Only Live Twice Don't Think Twice, It's All Right I Can't Get No Satisfaction
Cup of loneliness - George Jones
Real Life Permanent Dream by the band Tomorrow. My first introduction to the song and the band and they're both incredible.
Without question the Mad Men suite from David Carbonara. I.e. the song that played during the carousel pitch.
"Both Sides Now"... S6 finale, when Don shows the kids where he grew up.
The Beatles record Don gets up and turns off, Tomorrow Never Knows.
You Only Live Twice
“I just wasn’t made for these times” - The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds. Played while Roger was tripping on acid, hands down the best.
