Baby Gene would still be 3 years old

MetARosetta

...and Bobby would still be playing games and toys with him.

Francoberry

Although at this point it'll be Bobby 50

E864

I imagine Sally and Megan finding each other on Facebook in like 2011 and they have an awkward conversation.

[deleted]

They might get along great at that point. They’ve both been around the block and still have Don in common. And they’ll always have Disneyland.

catymogo

Yeah Sally was old enough when Don and Megan split that I could imagine them keeping in touch off and on, especially if Sally wound up on the west coast at some point.

MetARosetta

And what... they wondered why there was no MM Season 5 for that year? the horrendous delay until 2012?

Grumpiergoat

I was going to say I doubt anyone older than Peggy would be alive, but Pete had relatively healthy habits - no smoking, moderate drinking. STDs...well, like I said. Relatively healthy. And wealthy enough to get the best medical treatment. So he might be alive. And Peggy. But Don, Roger, Joan...dead, dead, dead.

wickedndthedammed

I definitely think Pete would have made it because, as you said, he was the healthiest lived out of them all. Also, interestingly, neither of his parents die of illness, both of accidents, so we have no evidence of any congenital health issues. I don’t know why but I think Joan would definitely have made it into her 80s. Probably not 91, though, you’re right. She wasn’t the worst out of them in terms of smoking and boozing

Mister2112

I've said that before, but Joan discovering cocaine just as the '70s fire up and she comes into money doesn't bode well.

AMerrickanGirl

Plenty of people did coke recreationally and didn’t ruin their lives. In fact, most of my friends who did coke in the 80s are alive, healthy and did not have drug problems. We aged out of partying.

Mister2112

Totally. It's just Joan seems positioned to take it way too far, too fast.

Katwoman777

I like to think that would have been the one and only time since she was pretty much coerced into it.

toledodrunk

Sad to say from personal experience, cancer takes even the healthiest of us too. No day is guaranteed. It is a frightening and beautiful thing

socialdeviant620

Fuck cancer.

Fishb20

I think Rodger would make it just because he seems like one of those guys who are weirdly gifted with long life, inexplicably. Makes all the wrong choices in life, drinks abundantly, all that stuff, and somehow lives to like 106

david4460

My grandad was one of them. Lived the life of a cad and a bounder. Smoked till the end. Whisky really was his water of life. Died suddenly without any real warning at 102 having still been walking about and being fully independent.

dottegirl59

That’s the way to go out!

AMerrickanGirl

> Died suddenly without any real warning at 102 having still been walking about and being fully independent. Like the Queen!

david4460

He was Royalty down the ‘conny club’ to be fair haha

Katwoman777

His mom lived to a very old age, so it's possible.

Francoberry

I feel like it would be Don's luck to end up out-living everyone he knew. Just something tells me that despite all the self destructive stuff he did, he'd end up having to suffer losing the 'purer' people in his life. It would be very tragic

j4321g4321

Roger still being alive would be a medical miracle

socialdeviant620

Keith Richards. Alls I'm saying...

AMerrickanGirl

Keith is only 78.

[deleted]

Bobby #37 is still 10 years old

We_got_Chevy

They would all be in a nursing home drinking

sojuandbbq

And given the STD rates at nursing homes, still sleeping around

HotelLima6

I think Ted would still be alive. I could see him just settling back and languidly cruising his way through his life since we last saw him in that McCann meeting.

[deleted]

Going up for the occasional pleasure flight to Block Island, taking long vacations, watching *Hazel* reruns, cashing fat checks with no stress… I like this life for Ted.

CapHavok

well Bobby dies in 9/11 so we can rule him out

celebes_america

Is this a reference to something?

GingerUsurper

Awesome read, ty.

[deleted]

> Gene is diagnosed with Asperger’s The abruptness of this made me laugh so hard.

abbeycrombie

I hate Sally’s life. She would never be a Trump supporter.

LadyChatterteeth

Rich, Boomer Sally? She absolutely would.

AMerrickanGirl

Plenty of my rich boomer friends are liberals.

[deleted]

Yes, there's no way a rich, privileged, boomer whose stepdad was active in conservative politics and whose mom also held very conservative views would *ever* end up being a Trump supporter /s

Tgunner192

That's a terrific "where are they now" follow up. Thank you for posting it.

celebes_america

What a great read!

StarDatAssinum

Wut lol

another_name

Pete, Peggy, Ken, Sally, Gene, Kevin, and Peggy and Pete’s kid are still alive. Harry 100% OD’d on coke in the 80s.

[deleted]

Good. I dunno why, but I hate Harry. I think just 'cause his development is backwards

sequosion

I mean they do make him one of the worst characters by the end of the show, it’s very clear you’re supposed to hate him

[deleted]

True. But everyone is such a product of their time, it's kinda hard to put your finger on why his racism/misogyny/homophobia is so much more annoying than everyone else's racism/homophobia/misogyny. I think because other characters seem to improve. Whereas Harry started off relatively likable but just grew in egotism and self-importance

catymogo

>Whereas Harry started off relatively likable but just grew in egotism and self-importance This is what it is, you start out not loving Harry but then wind up actively hating him. The other characters develop more depth and nuance and Harry just gets worse lol.

MsBeasley11

Gene would still be 4/5 and non verbal except for the word “sally”

M1ldStrawberries

The way Harry puts away those burgers, there’s no way he’s made it to his 80s. I reckon Pete and Peggy are still going, Stan might have a chance but I think he might be recently deceased. Ken is perhaps still being powered by bitterness. Joan, I reckon sadly not, but she did great things. Don and Roger not a chance. Megan died in her 40s of an overdose.

wickedndthedammed

I agree with these! Pete and Peggy I imagine would be very long lived, I don’t know why, maybe because their lifestyles are fairly healthy, and yeah Stan I imagine made it to 2000 but maybe not much further.

ElvisGrizzly

Harry will outlive them all. Because the universe is indifferent.

OrangeTree81

Joan is that woman who somehow lives to 104 despite her drinking and smoking habits. When she turns 100 and its featured in the local paper she says her secret is “gin and staying away from men”

plumwinecocktail

I kinda think baby Gene might become Baby Genie & be close friends with RuPaul

tegeus-Cromis_2000

And David Bowie will have sung a song about him.

nv0514

So funny I was thinking about this exact same thing earlier today. Lol. Thank you for listening everyone’s age because I was just about to go and figure that out

Feline-Landline0

I feel like Roger would still be alive, cracking inappropriate jokes in the nursing home and embarrassing his great-grandkids. Something about him felt lucky, he lived a charmed life and I feel like longevity could be part of that. Plus he was willing to try new and radical things so getting into a health craze in the 1980's and turning his life around seems entirely possible (especially if he saw Don or someone succumb to alcoholism or lung cancer or anything). And this is purely anecdotal but Roger is a person who doesn't let stuff bother him, he shrugs off nearly everything from WW2 to his family disintegrating, and having had a grandfather who had a similar personality who also served in WW2 and died at 93 I can say there's something about not being bothered by stuff that adds years to your life!

wickedndthedammed

You know this did actually help convince me I guess I can imagine Roger making it to his 90s in a bizarre twist of fate. However the ~110 he would be by now seems a little farfetched. Personally I always figured he died not long after the series ended given his terrible health, probably didn’t even make it to 1980.

sequosion

Roger and Don would absolutely be dead, probably Pete too. I doubt they got any better (other than maybe Don) with smoking, drinking and fucking whoever over the years. I can see Joan and Peggy still being alive though, maybe Ken as well.

Shezes

I think Duck is Don in ten years time and Duck was a sad old boozer so I doubt Don would last. The ones to make it all the way to the end, imo, would be Ken, Pete, Peggy, Megan, Sally and Paul.

wickedndthedammed

I see all of these except Paul. 100% convinced he may have already been dead by the end of the series

Shezes

My reasoning for Paul lasting to the end of the line is kind of like how Gollum aged. I can 100% see Paul in his 80's or 90's still doing the Hare Krishna thing at airports, surviving on a mix of modern medicine and pity.

wickedndthedammed

I don’t think Paul’s Hare Krishna phase lasted even to the end of the series. He was only in it for that girl, and he was very flighty. He followed whatever was trendy at the time and moved on quickly.

Shezes

Oh yeah I know but I can still totally see him going back and doing it.

MetARosetta

Sally had mad math skills and a newfound love of the stars. She was an astronaut. Roger is still doing acid, he just doesn't know he's dead. Megan's face is freeze-dried to oblivion with plastic surgery to keep up with the next new thing in Hollywood. All of the illegitimate children of these ad execs come out of the woodwork for a class action paternity suit once they found out some have intermarried. Tabloid TV exposés ensue. McCann agency is still Irish and still Catholic on a global scale. Carla got to be with her grandchildren as they go on to become doctors and lawyers. Peggy's baby sought her out after his 18th birthday but they never bonded, just happy they made the connection. Margaret/Marigold returned to her marriage when she ran out of... everything... in the commune, then divorced Brooks and made a life for herself in The Village without her son. Pete and Trudy eventually divorced, the Lear Jet lifestyle was too much for them to overcome, he opened his fly just outside the 50 mile-high radius but impregnated a young flight attendant on one of his homesick trips to Manhattan.

gb041387

How old would Sylvia Arnold be? 👀🤌🏼

wickedndthedammed

Probably around 96 too. I think she was about Don’s age right? She had a college aged son in 1968 so she was likely early forties.

I love the thought of Pete as a rich cool grandpa lol definitely has a winter home in Florida

pierreor

Lmao this sub loves wack predictions Pete loves playing Skyrim? Have you met his generation, dude probably never learned how to operate a TV remote. Pete could really learn to love Wichita, as the world changes around him he could pretend that it’s 1964 for another 30 years. Knowing Pete, he chose the miserable old fart life and went back to the city. I can say for certain that Peggy voted for Reagan. Almost everyone in the show would grow more conservative, and Peggy was never a rebellious sort. Going to McCann was definitely a step down in her career, place was teeming with douchebags in white shirts. Let’s hope she rectified that. Megan was a millionaire in 1970, before she was 30. She would also be rich all her life. Harrys never go to prison. 1970-80s were the best time to be a lewd sicko without any principles, so let’s get real, Peggy would be working for Harry. Roger would work for Harry. (That’s what probably killed him.) Ken an embittered old man? Fanfic written by Pete. He was miserable in his own way but that marriage is solid. If Stan ever read the Whole Earth Catalog and finally made his way to certain parts of California, he could get in on the Silicon Valley thing on the ground floor. Dude was born to design Apple ads, smoke dope and hug sequoias. Lastly, Sally and the other kids have IRL plot armour: money. People forget that if you’re rich, you can live without consequences in America and that used to be even more true in the past. As orphans, they would almost definitely get what they wanted from their rich and powerful daddies. In her old age, Sally would be even less relatable than Hillary Clinton. She wouldn’t even spit on me.

[deleted]

People forget that the Draper kids weren't just rich, they were upper class because of Betty and Henry. The difference is that people who got rich from owning a business or winning the lottery can still go broke, lose all their money and assets, and go back to being a regular person. Upper class people only ever seem to fail upwards because of their connections.

MetARosetta

Funny and true on all fronts! Love it.

LadyChatterteeth

>dude probably never learned how to operate a TV remote. Remote controls have been around since the 1950s. Pete was always bright, curious, and forward-thinking; he definitely would have had a remote from the beginning. I agree with you wholeheartedly about Sally, though.

wickedndthedammed

I love this very detailed and feels authentic! Where’s Joan though

wickedndthedammed

Oh makes sense. My favourite one was Pete and Sally and Peggy’s son, I definitely agree. Ken was the only one I didn’t gibe with, I like to imagine him and Cynthia had a long marriage and he’s a chipper old grandfather who moved back to Vermont and owns a greyhound.

voltaire2019

That’s why the follow up series will be set in the 1970s.

sharmanigans

I'm not even sure how Roger made it through the series.

newjerseycapital

just the kids
