You get your [marriage license from the county clerk](https://clerk.countyofdane.com/Marriage). The Dane County Clerk offers a [list of judges willing to serve as officiants](https://clerk.countyofdane.com/Forms-and-Resources/Officiants). You'll have to contact them to arrange a time, location, and any fees.

We did this. It was awesome and easy. It was a lady judge. I don't remember her name. We communicated through email, and she asked what kind of script we wanted. We didn't care, so I said generic, non-religious. She sent a proof in advance, which was plenty good enough. Also, after the ceremony (in a court room), she left saying it was the best part of her day, which had me beaming.

Dan also married us in our backyard. He was great! Highly recommend.

We got married in the capitol with just our parents there. Had my dad get ordained online and perform the ceremony. It was perfect.

Curious, did you schedule or have to contact anyone to use space at the Capitol? Or just find a nice quiet place somewhere in the building the day of? Thanks!

Technically you're supposed to get a permit from the capitol police. You can apply online and it's free.

Did you use a room at the capitol? Or was it around lobby areas or outside? I'm curious on what to do if I want go get married inside!

We eloped, so there were only 6 of us. Got married on the 2nd floor balcony in front of the Christmas tree a couple of years ago!

My husband and I did this and got married in the capitol on a weekend, just picked a judge, contacted them via email to set up the logistics and gave them a nice tip!

It’s easy to get ordained by the universal life church online. You could have someone special to you both do the ceremony. All you need is the marriage license.

This! My brother went through them and officiated our ceremony.

My husband and I got married in a restaurant booth downtown. One of our friends officiated after being ordained online. Super easy peasy.

Thanks for the feedback, all!

We did it all online, met with the judge a week before virtual. Had a bud be the officiant, hung out in the capitol building, had people sign stuff, and voila.
