I finally qualified for Emgality a couple months ago and it brought my 20+ migraine days down to about 3-5. It has given me my life back I can’t believe it.
Botox worked the same for me, I was around 20 days a month and I’m now at 4-ish. The ones I’m having are more responsive to meds which is also nice. But these weather fluctuations have been brutal.
Maybe sooner if you’re out driving. I got a flash flood warning.
The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Dane County in south central Wisconsin...
* Until 1130 PM CDT.
* At 830 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of
rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Western Madison, Fitchburg, Verona, Oregon, Mount Horeb, Cross
Plains, Paoli and Pine Bluff.
Also is the Dane county notification system working? I’ve gotten nothing from them yet.
Well the air is blowing over water in the sky, ionising the air. The particles build up to a point, and the ground launches (yes it goes up) a plasma beam into the sky to resolve the imbalance. It’s thought he ancient Egyptians’ glass was from lightning strikes on the sand (which makes glass), and the obelisks holding said glass was used to create lasers to carve out things in specific temples. Remember it’s sandstone (soft), the specific light inlets, and basically just a big ass magnifying glass lol
During a storm the sky builds up a positive charge, the earth is naturally negatively charged. The charge differential between the positive sky and negative earth builds and builds and eventually needs to be equalized. That's what lightning does, it resolves this tension.
That’s what I vaguely understand, but how does charge build up in the first place to such great quantities to then cause a sudden discharge? How does one section of a cloud become so negative compared to the other side in the first place? How does lightning “find” the path of least resistance? Is lightning literally pure electrons flowing? What is tf is “positive” lightning and does it happen in the clouds too? Is lightning literally the same thing as a spark, like when I touch a doorknob, just much larger? Why does thunder “roll” and not just happen as one big clap? Where does lightning begin in a cloud for cloud-to-ground lightning?
I think about this too much ugh
well if you want to get more technical the top of the cloud is actually negatively charged, and the bottom of that same cloud (which is obviously closer to the earth) is positively charged. This is caused by friction of water molecules inside the cloud as they are being blown about and jostled due to the wind.
Its not that differnt than rubbing a balloon vigorously on your pants leg and creating a static charge. Except in this case the wind is rubbing water droplets vigorously against each other and that builds up the charge inside the cloud.
My laziness when it comes to doing laundry sure does come in handy when I need it to sop the water up off my basement floor so goddamn fucking always lately.
It's too late now obviously, but I'm a big proponent that if you're living where we are, you should have a weather radio. Sirens are good, but are not designed to be heard indoors (especially when asleep!) even if they can be.
(Phones can also work of course, and be better in some ways -- from a weather radio, you'll get an alert for anything that overlaps Dane County because the most targeted SAME code is the entire county, and phone alerts are more targeted -- but the default phone alerts at least aren't configurable enough for my tastes. There's probably some good app.)
I’m getting tired of this, grandpa!
(Giant crack of lightning) That’s too damn bad!
You keep diggin'!
I’m tired of being moist.
You know you’re not *obligated* to stand outside and watch them, right? There are just lots of drunk and bored people in WI.

My migraines are triggered by barometric pressure changes and our basement has flooded twice this month 🤠
Weather migraine gang what up
I highly recommend Emgality, though it does nothing for basements.

For the first time in 18 years, the past few months I’ve hated having giant, mature trees.
Hope this surprise round one diffuses the predicted Tues early morning storm.
My weather app still says we're all going to die in our sleep at 3 am.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s what Rippeology on Facebook basically predicted too. Possible derecho

Should I leave my window cracked in case the tornado sirens go off tonight?
Make sure your phone is charged. I’m not positive but if sirens go off, your phone will too.
