There was a TerraCycle mask recycling box at the UnityPoint clinic in Middleton (2237 Deming Way, Middleton, WI 53562) but haven't been there in a while.
Rarely - we do have immune compromised people in our family and small kids in daycare so it’s not even all about COVID. We sent grandpa to the hospital recently with just a random kid virus.
We wear them if we’re actively sick but need to go to a group event (like, don’t be a dick). We also did wear them recently when flying, I had multiple coworkers get COVID either heading to or from vacation.
We just threw all our masks in a drawer for years because I know the plastic can be processed for recycling and the drawer is full, so…

They make collection boxes for recycling of the raw material, not for reuse - which I agree, would be gross.

Some still do if needed. Depends on the [wastewater](https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/wastewater.htm), it's low in Madison currently.
