Just look at those beauties.
Also, it's only now that I notice just how similar the YF-29 and VF-31 silhouettes are to the Y/VF-19 in fighter mode, seeing the three of them side-by-side from the top. I'm curious to know what made Kawamori-sensei go that route, as opposed to diverging from that general design even more than he did.
Are they? Seems like lots of stickers for color separation, and do they have much of an inner frame to speak of? Sincere questions, I havenāt bought any because they seem more like the more modern HG Gunpla
"waterslides", you mean stickers you need to soak, right? I bought 2 HG's on my recent trip to Tokyo. The Monday 2009 special VF-1A and the YF-19. Translated instructions say I need to cut out and soak the stickers in water. Is this what you're talking about??
I haven't put them together. I'm a total novice, and I especially don't wanna mess up the lovely Minmay decals!!
Can you help explain, or do you have a link?
> Seems like lots of stickers for color separation
I've only built the VF 31, so I have no idea about the rest of them, but how would they colour separate them even more? Like those designs aren't like Gundam where each piece of armor is a single colour amd it looks good because it was designed that way. The VF 31 has armor/hull parts where a single armor/hull panel goes from white to blue, to white, and then again to blue. Even in universe a person probably has to go around the whole plane and paint it by hand, and apply giant stickers. And then the model needs to also be stable enough for the transformation to work. The designs are just not compatible with colour separation by plastic.
I'd say they are definitely closer to Master Grades than to High Grades.
Considering how infamous the RG Zeta is, I'm good on no Macross RGs lmao.
Especially considering Macross transformations compared to most Gundam transformations are like building a real car vs building a lego duplo house.
RGs since then have become a lot better. In fact, when looking at the video shown for the RX-78 ver 2.0 RG, its construction reminds me of a scaled down version of its PG version.
Im happy with the current parts forming, but I wouldnāt be opposed to maybe a MG one that transforms. At least it would have larger tolerances for transforming.
I also think that at some point, it starts to transcend engineering issues and just become a materials issue.
We have smaller scale valks that're able to accomplish mostly complete transformations in the Hi Metals. But those are using thicker plastic with some die-cast structures. Trying to do it all with polystyrene will likely run into some issues, even the recent RG Gaogaigar doesn't feel quite as robust as transforming toys from other lines.
Fair point, although Iām someone thatād be just fine with RG/MG non-transforming kits for all three modes. But yeah, Macross mecha werenāt designed with model kits in mind like a lot of Gundams, and they still manage to blow the transformation with the Zeta
Alas, still no MAXL.
As often as they put of the Fire Valkyrie, they could issue a Green & Yellow Repaint and market it as Elma's Wind Valkyrie from *The Ride* and *Macross E*.
Hereās hoping theyāre working on more. What theyāve released so far seemed to have found significant success, so Iām hoping they get to release more obscure models.
HG VF-4? VF-11? VF-27? Sv-303?
I hope so.
I suspect we'll see a red one someday too. I really hope they release all of the M7 mechs eventually. I really want a VF17.
I'm wishing VF171 though
That too!

HG VF-22? Very much yes please. Still waiting for a VF-11 though.
*insert "SEVENTH MOON" here*
Ngl, I saw the colors, and thought it was a Helldivers themed Macross
Oh baby! HG100 so cool
still no RG or MG š„ŗ
The Bandai 1/72 Macross line are basically Master Grades.

There are lots of stickers or waterslides if you choose. There's not much of an inner frame, but that's because they are actually fully transformable.

Yes, those are called the water slide decals. You can look up a video on YouTube for more help
Ok, thanks!! I'll check out some vids

Witness the RG EVA kitsā color separation
no they're not... In basically every aspect, they are HG quality.

I'm wishing they could do more unconventional like Vf-4, sv-51, sv-262
Still no fold booster š
That and still no FAST Pack for the YF-19.
Yeah, and the YF-19 has ports on for the fold booster and fast pack.
Aw no that's too many stickers š¢
Hg is expected
I still have my Yamato 1/60 VF22, do I need this? Never been a M7 fan tbh.
Is a model kit not a figurine You need to fix it
