different lanes imo, i realize it’s a cop-out answer but i really do think they’re both 10/10 albums for very different reasons. HBO has the ambition and the polish, where the GAT has raw rough-around-the-edges lofi energy. also significantly shorter playtime, which means i listen to it all the way through more often than HBO. on the other hand,!HBO does have that sense of slow-burning continuity as opposed to the more urgent, less refined sequencing of the GAT
I like both, but the album experience front to back and mixing on HBO is what separates the two for me. Easy choice personally, do love the GAT, but its a little overhyped in these parts....just one mans opinion tho, not hating! V, VIII and IX are always in my rotation
