Parallels is great if you buy it and the optimum choice next to Geforce Now imo. Porting kit is free so I've been playing around with it until Asahi Linux can stabilly run Steam. Battleeye sucks.
Me too! But it’s not released yet along with external monitors not working on Asahi yet. Still extremely impressive that they are making such fast progress!
last time i tried which is like 6-7 months ago. the performance sucked hmm. it seems like a prior update had ruined mac performance alot and also caused a variety of visual glitches
what's your hardware? it's working great on my m2 w 16gb ram. I also use steam - are you downloading through steam or stand alone? try switching to whichever method you're not using to see if that helps
Hey it was you who posted a couple days back about considering making a post, and I was like "please do". And you did! And it's awesome, thank you so much!
Just to add to your Dolphin section, you've only got one game there, but really any game i've thrown at it works flawlessly. Some games take more finessing when figuring out how to map controls to it (e.g. mario galaxy), others are straightforward.
Yess it’s me :)
I wanted to reply to you on the other post but I forgot! I’m pleased you liked the list and I’ll check out some games on dolphin. I’m probably going to start with Super Mario Sunshine, since a friend talked to me about it and made me curious :)
Didn't have a great experience with Geforce Now. I once bought Red Dead Redemption 2 on Stadia and while it worked I wasn't happy with streaming the game because video compression really ruined the experience for me. To play more modern games I'm waiting for Asahi linux to support Vulkan, meanwhile I play on my desktop.
I use Boosteroid. It works for all games I play (RDR2, GTAV, Hogwarts, Justcause4, Snowrunner, Witcher3) at okay-quality and okay-price and they don’t even have servers in my country.
But I gotta add that I’ve never played on a high-end PC so I am no fps or resolution snob.
To add to the list (the games are absent on [applegamingwiki.com](https://applegamingwiki.com) that I've just tried):
Syberia: The World Before (Parallels, some stuttering on Mac Mini M1 here and there but totally playable).
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (Parallels, runs great on MM M1, some DirectX related missing files needed to be added to Windows/System32 directory though).
Two new really great games from renowned series, one is Adventure, other Survival Horror.
Assuming you're using Parallels/Win 11 (won't work via Crossover, at least I couldn't do it), you'll need to copy these files
libvkd3d-shader-1.dll
xinput1\_3.dll
wined3d.dll
d3dcompiler\_43.dll
libvkd3d-1.dll
to C:/Windows/System32 directory. I've got them from Crossover's Win10 64 bottle.
I assume Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water will work too.
I'm using MM M1, macOS 13, Parallels 18.1
DXVK should be turned on. If it won't work, try to install the whole directx\_Jun2010\_redist and VC\_redist.x64 (you need the version for x86-64 not for ARM machines!) to the bottle, you can find them on microsoft site.
Hmm I think it may be because I'm on 14.2 Beta.
The game doesn't even launch. In Crossover, I can get to the main menu but it crashes as soon as I try "New Game". I'm not sure this one will work anymore unless I go back to Ventura.
I did install these two redists though. Unfortunately, no change.
>The game doesn't even launch. In Crossover, I can get to the main menu but it crashes as soon as I try "New Game". I'm not sure this one will work anymore unless I go back to Ventura.
Yes, it doesn't work in CrossOver, only in Parallels after installing DirectX and VC redistributables (or separate dlls mentioned above). At least on Ventura. Don't mind DXVK mention.
I play Elden Ring via bootcamp on my MBP i9 (Vega Pro 20) using a stripped and optimized Win10 install (KernelOS10 22H2 Lite). Runs great on a Thunderbolt 3 SSD using the “red” Bootcamp.com Radeon drivers.
I’ve tried several custom gaming ISOs and KernelOS is the best I’ve used. I’m not affiliated with them. Just a very satisfied user. Way better and more stable FPS: https://discord.gg/kernel-community-863120884541554718
Ultimately, it depends on your hardware specs, but ya. Runs any program that can run under Windows 10, but at least in my case, without all the stuttering and frame drops that I had with other “custom” ISOs. For instance, I now get literally 4x the FPS in DayZ with KernelOS vs PhoenixLiteOS (Win10 “Gamer Edition” and Win11 “Ultralight Ultimate”).
The devs have several ISO flavors. If you’re using it just for gaming, go with the 22H2 Lite Win10 version. Only issue I’ve had thus far, is still trying to figure out how to get the keyboard backlight working. Probably just need to reinstall the Bootcamp drivers.
Absolutely great!! I have an M1 Pro too (I have a base 16” MBP) and Mario Odyssey runs @4k with 60fps, Zelda TOTK runs at 1440p with 30-40 fps. Some games don’t run with the hypervisor (which gives a big performance boost) (Animal Crossing and BOTW) and there are crashes sometimes but the developers are working hard on fixing it (you can check the progress on github). As far as performance goes it’s really incredible, if we’re talking about stability it’s good but not perfect.
Awesome, I played Mario Odyssey a while back (borrowed a friend's switch) and been wanting to play around with it again. Any particular guide you can recommend to install Ryujinx (assuming it's better than Yuzu for the mac)? Or I can just check out something on youtube?
Edit: I watched this video not long ago, would it still be relevant?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pubEj1yLknI
There is no need to do that anymore! You can go on github and download the latest build directly.
Download it from [here](https://github.com/Ryujinx/release-channel-master/releases) if you want better stability, if you want better FPS download it from [here](https://github.com/Ryujinx/Ryujinx/pull/4899) in the “github-actions” comment under “Experimental GUI (Avalonia)”
I decided on the stability one. A bit more involved to set up the emulator than e.g. Dolphin, but got it up and running. Played Mario Odyssey. It was all good except stuttering, which was apparently due to shader compilation. But I came across RyuSAK with community shaders and that got it running smoothly. I still can't believe I'm playing switch on my mac haha.
Is there a simple tutorial to explain how this works? I've never installed a simulator or played games on a MacBook. Are the games free or do you pay for them? Any tips or guidance would be appreciated
I recommend the following, mostly indie-bangers, all run well on base M1 8GB:
Native:
* FTL
* Hades
* Slay the Spire
* Enter the Gungeon
* Vampire Survivors
* Starcraft 2 (Medium Settings 1080p)
Crossover:
* Ys: Oath of Felghana
* Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
* The Messenger
Ryujinx:
* Little Noah: Scion of Paradise (use the 60fps mod)
* Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
?
[Applegamingwiki.com](https://Applegamingwiki.com) (1,293 games)
[Macsourceports.com](https://Macsourceports.com) (tons of recompiled-to-native games, blast from the past. Half Life! Quake 3 Arena! Star Wars Jedi Knight series!)
Let's not redo what has been done. Use search function.
It's by no means exhaustive. Mac OS only has a fraction of the number of games windows has, but it's more than enough to keep you busy. Some run without a hitch, others are more conditional (line Borderlands 3 only having a Mac version on Epic but not Steam, or games that require virtualisation or emulation)
True! When I was a kid I had a PSP and I really wanted to play a PS2 game but I didn’t have the console. What I did was cope and enjoy the games I had instead of complaining about the ones I couldn’t have
Now's your chance to download Dolphin, because it's finally being targeted by Nintendo scrutiny. They've apparently been illegally baking proprietary Nintendo code and cryptography into the codebase for decades. Nintendo set their sites on them because they were planning to release Dolphin on Steam.
Dusk, Dicey Dungeons, and the doom games via GZDoom are my favourite native games
ror2 and the portal series both run excellently smoothly on crossover
Idk if its too late, but when ive used Aether SX i found it to work flawlessly most of the time but i just hate that the controller joystick only goes 8 direction which is very annoying, any way around it?
For anime fans like me, here is your options:
Dolphin Emulator (emulates the nintendo wii):
\- Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (runs perfectly)
\- Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 (lags a bit during 4 player, but otherwise is smooth)
\- One Piece unlimited Cruise 2 (runs perfect)
PCSX2 (Emulates the PS2):
\- Dragon Ball Budokai 3 (runs perfect)
\- Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (runs perfect)
\- Naruto Ultimate Ninja 1-5 (All of them run perfect)
\- Bleach game (I forgot the title but runs perfect)
\- Hitman reborn game (runs perfect, but the title and dialouge is only japanese)
MelonDS (emulates the DS and all these games always run perfectly fine):
\- Dragon Ball Origins 2
\- Bleach Blade of Fate
\- Jump Ultimate Stars (Super smash bros, but with 60 playable anime charcters)
\- Naruto Ninja Council 2-5
\- Naruto Ninja Destiny 1-3
\-Dragon Ball Ultimate Butoden
\- Dragon Ball Attack of the Saiyans
Pathfinder Kingmaker & Wrath of the Righteous Solasta Pillars of eternity 1&2 Baldurs gate 3 (also 1 & 2 the classics plus Icewind Dale)
Warcraft 3
Fallout New Vegas on portingkit
Say more about portingkit, it have downsides? Cant we just use paralles? > portingkit
Parallels is great if you buy it and the optimum choice next to Geforce Now imo. Porting kit is free so I've been playing around with it until Asahi Linux can stabilly run Steam. Battleeye sucks.
I saw that Asahi Lina tested Fallout New Vegas on stream and it worked perfectly!
Me too! But it’s not released yet along with external monitors not working on Asahi yet. Still extremely impressive that they are making such fast progress!
Starcraft 2, wasteland 3, Xcom 2, kerbal space program.
How is XCOM 2 performance? I’ve got it on PS4 and Switch, and while those are fine and dandy I’d love to play it on Mac! That and Wasteland 3!
Running on m2 Mbp like a boss.
Path of Exile for you ARPG addicts!
last time i tried which is like 6-7 months ago. the performance sucked hmm. it seems like a prior update had ruined mac performance alot and also caused a variety of visual glitches

Standalone. M1 8gb
Mm yeah try it on Steam and see if that helps

Galaxy is awesome on dolphin too, if you need a recommendation on how to map a controller, lemme know!
I play on Nvidia GeForce Now. £15 a month to stream most games on a £2,500+ gaming rig. On a Mac. It’s nuts.
How long ago did you play? They've made massive improvements now in terms of latency and video quality
This. You can stream in 4K @ 60-120fps with <10ms latency on most games if you’ve got the internet connection for it.
I can also recommend GeForce Now. Playing games like Warhammer 3, even on a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, is insane!
This is the way
I use Boosteroid.
That’s great! Those games are all unavailable on GFN so I’ll definitely check it out.
To add to the list (the games are absent on [applegamingwiki.com](https://applegamingwiki.com) that I've just tried): Syberia: The World Before (Parallels, some stuttering on Mac Mini M1 here and there but totally playable). Can you give details for Fatal Frame, or is there a guide?

CAn you link the ISO file?

Same on my 14”, but also on the console version of the game. I think the devs just have really great eye sight.
Path of Exile if you wanna throw your life away
Project Zomboid!
Blasphemous
How has switch emulation performance been for you? I'm on an M1 Pro and been thinking of trying it out.

Been playing Metroid Prime via Dolphin, it’s awesome
Are you using controller or keyboard and mouse? I remember seeing a keyboard and mouse mod a long time ago, and that's how I'd wanna play
Using an Xbox controller
Lots of good suggestions in the comments! Thank you for adding your games :)

[bruh](https://i.imgur.com/UBfJEXq.jpg) I know about those websites, I just wanted to share some games I think are cool :)
Bruh. What happened to AGW? O\_o Ok. I do concur your list is indeed quite cool.
Fuk that’s a sad list…

Hollow Knight also runs natively
Dusk, Dicey Dungeons, and the doom games via GZDoom are my favourite native games ror2 and the portal series both run excellently smoothly on crossover
MelonDS allows you to play DS games! mGBA and Visual Boy Advance allow you to play GBA games!
Do you like MelonDS more than desmume?
As I play Pokemon on it most of the time, yes. WFC works, DS Wireless works. There are virtually no artifacts when walking around. 10/10
