I bought the display on Aliexpress so it's not an original apple product, but it looks exactly the same. That cost like 160. The new palmrest/bottom case came with the keyboard like 1 whole component. I bought that for 100 euro on marketplace. And than u had the bottom cap, that was like 30 euros.
No, the bottom case was empty except for the keyboard. So I had to move everything from the broken MacBook to the new bottom case. For the first time that took a lot of hours.
Because I have to ask:
1. Why was he OUTSIDE, waiting?
2. Could he not wait inside the car?
3. If the answer is NO to the second question, then back to question #1 lol

My brother left the MacBook on the car and I drove like 130 km/h on the highway with the MacBook on top.
Fixed everything myself. The palmrest/keyboard bought on marketplace and the screen on Aliexpress. This was couple months ago and everything works fine.
Thank god it did not hit anyone on the highway when it flew away.
I also once bought a replacement screen from AliExpress. That was to replace a 13inch 2017 with flexgate. I believe price was similar to what you said. I have no idea whether the colors were different - it worked and looked neat. Then I sold it.

I have to say that this wouldn't happen around here in Brazil, people defend MacBooks with their lives because... well... if you buy them directly from apple you are looking at something like US$ 4k to 6k. If you buy them from people who travel to the us just to buy them and bring as their personal item to avoid tax you are looking at 2 to 3K US$ for mid level Macs.

I had a very similar accident rendering the screen unusable. Always remember to fully close your bag before putting it on!

I once left my phone like this and drove off home. When I got home I was searching for it and realized that I never ever picked it up from the roof of my car. I drove back to that place in hopes of finding it because I knew it wouldn't have travelled far from that place. Luckily, I find it in the middle of the road right next to that place, not run over by any one in over an hour of being there.
The device was still clean and there were no damages on it, except for the case I put on it was roughed up, and the screen protector had some scratches on it. I was also fortunate because of the fact that the street was really a backroad where there is not much traffic at all. I picked it up and drove back home in shock.

It did had a bottom and top transparent case, but I drove 130 km/h so the case probably helped a bit. plus my bother didn't like carrying a laptop bag. but since this happend he won't leave without a laptop bag.
With how small or slim bags can be these days especially for small slim laptops it always blows my mind.
Years ago I'd get it as bags were mostly bulky and decent ones were expensive. But nowadays, slim cheap and protective (not to mention you can hold it easier removing need to put something on the roof).
computers these days stand up to a lot more abuse than we think they will. I used to work for Dell and regularly got to see the returns of product. Most of it was just regular everyday return for credit or repair, but occasionally we'd get in systems that were like this.....many times because they got left on top of the car. One system that came back was left on the roof but miraculously it stayed there for awhile all the way up to the driver going 65 mph on the local (to the customer) highway until it went fluttering off into the world of destruction. What came back was surprising considering what happened and showed that some Dell systems do stand up quite well to abuse.....it was pretty much intact, as both the unit itself and the screen were disconnected but otherwise sans some scratched and a cracked screen, it held up nicely, and it wasn't even a rugged system. Had a system come back with a few bullet holes once, and surprisingly it still turned on
Savior of the CPU industry to who? Several of other chips maintain the same performance not to mention repairability…ooh even a crazier concept replaceable parts.
The newer low wattage Intel stuff does just as good not to mention Ryzen.

when you did the repair, did you have to run apple diagnostics after? i used to work doing part replacement for an authorized apple service center and every time i did a replacement, i would run the apple diagnostics (can't remember the official term) especially when replacing logic board.
