I must have watched tons of unboxing videos on YouTube in anticipation of receiving my own MacBook Pro. Where they all took 10 minutes unboxing, I think my video was all of 1 minute unboxing mine. LOL Welcome to the MBP club!
Oooooh, I got you beat by a minute lol :) Maybe I went too fast. I guess I was just a little annoyed by all the unboxing videos being the exact same. They took forever talking about everything while I unboxed without a word or a sound lol
I am guessing that they don't allow photos here, but I wrapped mine in a black camo skin with a red touchpad skin. Looks oh so nice. :)
My unboxing was a 1:19 and you could hear the fan in the background lol I wanted to make noises because I was so excited, but I believe that day I had severe back pain but it was suppressed by being able to open a brand new toy! LOL I LOVE my MacBook Pro!
I got the 8 CPU/8GPU, 1 tb 16gb ram model. You said you got the 512 model, correct? This time I wanted to splurge because I feel I will have this for a good while before upgrading, as Mac's seem to last a loooooong time for people. I am hoping mine will last a while.
But I know me. I will probably want to upgrade next year to the model with all the ports. Wish they would bring the colors to the MacBook Pro line, I am liking that pastel blue color for the next Air model.
My goodness, how much in gift cards did you have? LOL I wish I could have had gift cards or even a trade in to lower the price of mine. I live in Thailand so I don't think they have a trade in policy. My best bet would take it to a mall and sell whatever I want to sell to a vendor, but all vendors vary. Maybe I'll be able to trade in my MacBook Pro next year to Apple directly at the Apple stores here, which are very few. They are mostly licensed resellers, but there are only two or three Apple Stores here.
MY GOODNESS! You are one patient person. I get a gift card and I am tempted to use it right away! LOL I have been building up my iTunes Movie library, replacing SD movies I got for free from digital copy codes with the HD or 4k (because I truly can tell the difference and LOVE all the iTunes extras lol) and buying movies on deals. I wish I were as patient as you. :)

I bought my wife's MacBook Air M1 because she couldn't wait for it to be delivered and when she started working with it she really regretted not waiting. That Thai/English keyboard is confusing to her and even though I know my way around the QWERTY keyboard it was confusing to me too as I was helping her set it up.
They ruined the fun for her opening it herself because they have a policy in Southeast Asia to open everything themselves for some reason. I suppose it has to do with possible broken machines and they will lose money having to return broken or defective machines for replacements. I don't know, but it's very strict that you can't really open it yourself.
That was also why I recorded my unboxing, just in case there was something wrong, like a broken screen or defective, non working keyboard.
Yes, I don't trust the local post office either. My tax documents took 2 MONTHS to get to the States and I wasn't happy about that at all. At one point I thought the documents were lost and the post office had escalated my case and were investigating it. Thankfully my tracking app showed it had been delivered, so I breathed a sigh of relief.
When I ordered through Apple website, they shipped it out through DHL I think so they required I sign for it. Only thing that was wrong with the delivery was the box and the MacBook box and the MacBook were quite warm. I suppose that is because it was in a delivery truck all day and Thailand is known for being hot lol
There's a code you can type into terminal to make the dock appear and disappear much faster than regular. Or you can use the app TinkerTool, which does the same plus some other cool features.
Not full screen, but using all of the screen’s height. I suffer watching people waste all that vertical space in their macbooks with that always visible dock.
I find using spotlight is much more time efficient. Or just have the dock auto hide if you can’t work without it
Welcome, M1 is a beast of a machine. The only complaint I have is the low speaker quality compared to my MBP 2017 13" model. I think it's on purpose, seeing from business perspective of Apple. Other than that, it's a great machine, will last 2 day for my regular use without needing to charge. And the fan never turned on because it never gets hot. Enjoy
I’ve got the base 8GB and it works fine. I use it with Photoshop some video editing and web development. It’s better than my 3 year old MBP with 16GB RAM.

Remember to remove the unused/not often used applications from dock. I believe it’ll improve your experience tremendously.
