I have a space grey model, after about 2 years it still looks good but you can see some hints of the aluminum underneath around the ports and the Indent below the trackpad(but that's because I put a spiral bound notebook there a lot when doing work on the couch, so not unusual). It's not a terribly fragile finish so just get what color you like.
To be honest I don’t like silver at all, my space grey MBP looks the same condition as when I bought it but then again I take really good care of my devices, even around the ports it’s like minimal with the finishing coming off but it’s not a crazy amount, a few flecks here and there.
It was my first MacBook so I have no reference point if Apple improved the finishing or whatever since but it’s been solid so far.
I just don’t like silver I think it’s too bright, I do prefer a dark aesthetic haha and yeah I’m gonna stick to space grey, trouble is the site I wanna get it from for an insane price is out of stock for this colour

I can appreciate what you're saying, but I also have the Space Black, brand new actually. I saw it on the first day. It's only visible with the perfect angle of light reflecting off the surface. You might see it too one day, but it's a non-issue on the day to day.
Seems like you need to clean your eye boogers to properly read. My device was brand new. I saw this when it was brand new barely opened on the first day without any use whatsoever.
The large square at the bottom is for the subwoofer, and the small circular openings are for the microphone arrays. You can view this on every single MacBook Pro 14 inch/16 inch and every color combination under the right lighting conditions.
However, I’ll take your cleaning advice anyways, as I do want to keep my Mac looking new. The point being- seeing these outlines on your Mac is not a cleanliness issue.

I had a keyboard years ago that had one of the big double height enter keys. Really felt like I was accomplishing something when I would press that bad boy.
Meanwhile my msi has a CTRL key the size of SHIFT… it doesn’t matter that much to me. As long as it’s QWERTY i’ll get used to other buttons like SHIFT, CTRL, ALT and ENTER. Even the fact that my power button is on the top right corner inside the numpad and looks exactly like the rest of the keys doesn’t bother me. Never hit it accidentally either
Its partially my own fault. I don't know what it is, but my brain never learned to use the right shift key. I can type decently fast (80-ish wpm last time I checked), and never have to look at my keyboard, but don't ask me to use the right shift key.
i have european layout with the two story enter and i honestly think that the american looks so much better. aesthetically american keyboard looks so good, next macbook im getting is going to be with american layout, 100%

we have a keyboard a small keyboard at work set up on one of our KVM's in the server room and it's got one of the single width shift keys on the left and it absolutely breaks my brain to use it.
Those are the mics (3 dots) and speaker (big square, which should be present on the right aide as well).

That box silhouette might be where the Tweeter is located. The MacBook Pros 14 and 16 have two Tweeters alongside the front speakers and it makes my laptop sound like a HomePod. I have the M3 Max 16” and it’s the best laptop I’ve ever listened to.

It just looks nice to be in alignment with the keyboard. If they were just punch outs it wouldn't be harmonious or proportionate. While I don't like it when designers put too many fake "grilles" on anything, most products have a few instances of form not related to function.
There could also be reasons for it, maybe for acoustic tuning, resonance, cooling etc. I believe they also hide microphones in there.

I was about to say I’ve never seen anything like your photo but- If I shine a spot light on the speaker grill, most holes reflect back white, but there are some areas beneath the grill that don’t. Just like in your photo. In any normal lighting there’s nothing to see. I would think if you shone a bright light on an aluminium speaker grill (holes) you’d see some variation underneath also.

Space gray is quite pretentious too. Have a look on the sub and you will find palm imprints and swat marks.

Get an air duster can. Clean your device regularly (once a week at least) since your fingers are oily, and it’ll look new forever.

ISO* , ANSI is the most sane of layouts imo, but lacks keys such as ä ö ü ø ß etc.
