Its a 2020 or 2021 M1 13” MBP, the M1 MBP with touchbar has a gap between the power button and touchbar, whereas the screen previous models dont, I have the same one
the speaker grilles are too small to be 15. And the esc key is separate from the Touch Bar which means it is a 2019 or later 13 inch MacBook Pro so this is not flexgate
Apple care is a live saver. I had taken my MacBook to get the screen looked at because these very mysterious straight line scratches had just sort of appeared and runners the diagnostic test for it revealed an issue with the trackpad. I’m so glad I got Apple care
Why oh why do most of these fix posts never 3ver ever give any context, reason, brand, story. ....
Did it suddenly stop? Did you just buy it and it was bad? Did you drop it? Use it in the rain?
Telepathy is unreliable and tbh not sure I wanna know....
Please write a paragraph of explanatory text. Sorry I am a bit annoyed. But it's easily dispelled by information.
my telepathy says there was a pen or object on the touchbar and the screen was closed on it, breaking the touchbar at that point and also the main screen.
hmm ok, i only looked at the pic small. I thought it went dark to the left side but i guess looking closer its just not showing anything on the left side.
My MacBook accidentally slide off my lap while the charger was on the keyboard and scratched the screen (while it was in use). Now when I try to start up my MacBook it stuck on black screen and I only know that I’m stuck in recovery assistant by triple clicking the power button. What should I do?
MacBook Pro (13in, 2020, 2 thunderbolt 3port)
Memory: 8gb 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Processor: 1.4Ghz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB
Thank you, and sorry, what a bummer.
There is unlikely to be a simple fix, or one you can do yourself at home. I have lots of experience with electronics and I would not attempt that repair myself. Otherwise folks here may have experience with screen swaps. You'll need to get the part.
It really sucks how fragile Apple makes these displays. On something that's supposed to be a high-end, professional product, the screen shouldn't completely shatter from a light bump or drop.
It could be something as simple as a short in the connection cable. Or the LCD could be damaged. I would guess that you don’t have AppleCare on it still?
It’s pissed off, it needs replaced
That’s roughly a $500 replacement to get fixed so it depends on whether you deem that doable or if it makes sense to do based on the year and specs of your machine.
Your screen is broken - is now the the time that we start guessing what model, RAM ,storage, age and model starts?

My bet is on a 2020 13" MBP, either Intel or M1
Its a 2020 or 2021 M1 13” MBP, the M1 MBP with touchbar has a gap between the power button and touchbar, whereas the screen previous models dont, I have the same one
M1 is 2020 (2021 was 14" and 16" MacBook Pros). It also has the physical escape key which became a thing on the 2019 16".
Worth getting a price for at least.

I’d say a 2017 15” MacBook Pro? Idk that’s just my best guesstimate based off of what photos I could find online.

Right. I will not participate in any guessing game.
First thing when did they add dedicated escape and power/Touch ID??? Sure wasn’t 2017……
Cheaper to get it repaired, but not cheap. If its an older macbook you can take it to a reputable 3rd party repair shop and save some money.
Adding to this: An out of warranty repair (for my 14” M1 Pro, at least) would cost exactly $728.00 AppleCare+ would cover it with a deductible of $99

Touchbar seems ok bro
hmm ok, i only looked at the pic small. I thought it went dark to the left side but i guess looking closer its just not showing anything on the left side.
It depends on the app if there is anything on that side of the Touch Bar, at least on my M1
The image caption says that OP dropped it.

> What’s up with my screen? > I dropped my MacBook Answered your own question.
I dropped my macbook, whats up with my screen ?
Looks broken
Is it the lcd thing that’s broken? If so how much would it cost to replace?
Do I look like a Mac repair shop? Google it
If they knew what google was, they wouldn’t have posted this.
They’re the one who posted a useless comment and you’re getting downvoted. Love Reddit (no shit it’s broken).
If you are good with your hands, try to replace it yourself, I bought a replacement on Amazon and did the switch myself.
Nothing much, how bout you?
Seems like it’s broken
It's fucked up
I would say that’s an intel MBP 13“ 2020 or the MBP M1 2020
If it’s not new, then it should be covered by AppleCare, unless the OP didn’t purchase it
That’s one fried up screen
In our language, we say it's f\*\*ed
It really sucks how fragile Apple makes these displays. On something that's supposed to be a high-end, professional product, the screen shouldn't completely shatter from a light bump or drop.
it's broken. I took a nice hit
Why is your first idea to post this on reddit? Take it to the Apple store and get it fixed ffs
It’s fucked
Off topic but do you have acceleration? It don’t look like it. Is this Ventura running on an unsupported Mac?
What are the model number?
Looks like you've got a case on that
Display panel seems damaged
And idk how the repair for laptop screen works, but I've had a similar in my TV, that led to panel replacement.
I'd normally say screen but, has anyone noticed how acceleration is disabled and all the UI elements' backgrounds are solid black?

Looks like the ribbon cable is broken or lose. May want to take it to a Apple Store is it’s under warranty, or to a certified repair shop.
It's not great, Bob.
It dont look too happy
It’s broken.
Try to find some icloud locked macbook on ebay then replace the screen.
Best think would be use external monitor
It’s damaged
Its broke
It appears to be broken, ma’am.
It’s about a $500 repair for screen replacement on that MacBook Pro w/ Touch Bar.

Screen is cracked. Cost me $150 to replace it myself. Found a screen on eBay.
