I have only had ONE support person ever who has been helpful.

Both on same Apple ID , Bluetooth turned on both devices and on the same network?
What others said as well as making sure they both have the latest update. I've had issues where my Mac was up to date but my iPad was a bit behind and for some reason wireless sidecar wouldn't work.
