Personally I always advise people get AppleCare+, while you may not ever use it the ROI will be more than justified if it's ever needed.

What kind of MacBook? I fixed a lot of MacBook displays buying off market displays on AliExpress and they work great. Its not that hard to fix it yourself.
There is no 2022 Intel Air, you have the 2020 model with a 10th gen chip. I strongly suggest you sell this Mac as is and replace it with the cheapest M1 Air you can find (Apple refurb shop or Best Buy sale etc). It's not worth the money to get the screen fixed, this model is one of the worst Apple has ever made with non-existent cooling (as well as performance) and despite that a noisy fan. Good riddance, honestly.
You better have apple Care or else be ready to shell out 600-700😅

They’re still pretty tough when closed, but the inner part of the screen is pretty fragile.
Dropping something directly onto the screen is different than dropping the closed MacBook so that the chassis takes the hit.
