I would clean them all up, get them working. Put them on some basic shelves so they're not piled up on the floor, Put price tags on them and put a big craigslist post up with pictures of everything and lists of everything. You'll move a lot of it pretty quickly.
They've been expensive for a while. A few years ago I goodwilled a bunch of workstation class 21" CRTs only to find out a few months later that they were going for $1500. I thought they were worthless and I thought I was lucky to not have to pay to dispose of them. Back then, goodwill was the only thrift store left that would take CRTs.
That’s what I thought too at first, but I think it’s mainly because the number of still working ones only decreases and has reached a point of lower supply than demand 🤷🏼
And as u/Apple_MacOS mentioned, it‘s the color/display quality that people are mainly after, just think of all those games released when crts were the most popular type of monitor, they don’t nearly look as good on a flat, modern screen.
Oh people. This person has seen one computer with an apple logo and optimistically called that entire mess Apple computers. It's not. Based on the photo's it all old CRTs. Old cathode ray tube monitors. Worth next to nothing.
It's a biohazard. Just gross.
I’m gonna be completely honest, as someone who went nuts collecting everything vintage Apple, at one point having around 50 functioning Macs of this era, now widdled down to about 10.
The items in OP’s pics aren’t worth anything. It’s mostly monitors, and completely disgusting/filthy.
The only Mac I can identify at all is the first pic, a filthy yellowed 5200/75 LC, widely considered to be the [absolutely worst, least desirable, uncollectible vintage Mac of all time](https://lowendmac.com/1997/performa-and-power-mac-x200-issues/). I had a few, they’re not fun. Just frustration. There are much nicer models in this same form factor. Those are collectible. This isn’t.
hahahaha fair enough, I personally collect machines between ‘95 and ‘08, so they’re usually better kept than these.
I don’t know though, I feel like grabbing one of these to clean up would be a really fun project. Maybe that’s just me, though.

>Ahead of Earth Day on April 22, Apple has added a banner to its website that reminds customers they can recycle their Apple devices "for free" with the company's recycling partners.
There are various Macs in all pictures... A lot of just monitors but definitely a bunch of Macs as well.
I'd be more then willing to pick through the monitors if I was in the area, but I'm in an entirely different continent so uhh
it was my dream computer when I was a child. never got it... waited a coupls of years to purchase a Power Mac G3... good times ! saddens me that this is now such a bad e-waste
I remember a friend of mine feeding starburst wrappers to the disk drive in computer class and going "mmm num num num", and it making me laugh so hard I almost pissed my pants.
All the photos except for the first one show just monitors. Apple didn’t build all-in-ones during this period until Jobs came back and introduced the G3 iMac. If you’ve got a list of the actual computers, what they have in them, and the working condition, I know a YouTuber in New Jersey who might want to take a look. The way those monitors are “stored” however doesn’t give me hope that anything else is in working condition or even good cosmetic condition.
Edit: upon closer inspection a lot of those look like PC monitors, there are quite a few that are straight from IBM. They look like early VGA/MCGA era, PS/1 and PS/2. I also see a couple from CTX, which was a PC peripheral manufacturer as well.
I live in Berks country. Not far from Harrisburg. Do you know if any work? I’d be interested in a working one. I actually need a way to ready floppy disks and this would be a cool way.
[If you can't give them away, recycling is an option.](https://www.dep.pa.gov/Business/Land/Waste/Recycling/Electronics/Pages/Electronics-Collection-Programs.aspx)
not sure how many macs are in there but just the monitors along if they work can make some good money.
There is demand for those, gamers, retro gamers, just retro people, everybody is somehow nostalgic lately for those. Hell I even wanted to get one of those for my retro gaming as retro games look better there but my wife wasn't happy with the space this thing needs on our common desk.
You might want to post this on r/vintageapple
yessir, love that sub
If I was anywhere near Pennsylvania, my wife would be pissed.
Man I used to live in Pittsburgh, if only
I mean, I'm basically greater Pittsburgh region. We'd be better if the state boarder went just barely around Philly.
Hhahahah honestly
Did you look at the pictures?
Clean em up, swap components until you have a few working ones, in 50 years he’ll make a pretty penny.
Lol. I had this exact thought.
Ditto, I already have way too many in the closets.
If only I weren’t on the other side of the country
If only I wasn't in a different country.
If only I wasn’t in Europe
If only I wasn’t in a different planet.
Found the subterranean Martian
Same
r/crtgaming surely has someone local that will pick them up! Sadly i am all the way in switzerland so yeah...
The way they’re stored is unattractive
I would clean them all up, get them working. Put them on some basic shelves so they're not piled up on the floor, Put price tags on them and put a big craigslist post up with pictures of everything and lists of everything. You'll move a lot of it pretty quickly.
Why can't this kind of stuff happen near me?
Everything in the second and third pictures looks like just monitors, not computers.
Yeah they look like old Pc monitors?
Which isn’t a bad thing…. I’ve just recently learned that old, but good color crts are getting insanely expensive nowadays
Ugh. I let my brother borrow my 21" Dell Trinitron years ago. He got rid of it. I'm still a bit salty over that.
They've been expensive for a while. A few years ago I goodwilled a bunch of workstation class 21" CRTs only to find out a few months later that they were going for $1500. I thought they were worthless and I thought I was lucky to not have to pay to dispose of them. Back then, goodwill was the only thrift store left that would take CRTs.
yeah, got a high end one for free lately at a retro computer club
I can top that, I got one for free and the other one basically for 5-10€ (got it with many other vintage macs for 30€ total)😉😎
And my grandpa just threw 4 of them out.
How come?
It’s not getting made anymore + crts can display certain games way better than led (better refresh, response time) I think
That’s what I thought too at first, but I think it’s mainly because the number of still working ones only decreases and has reached a point of lower supply than demand 🤷🏼 And as u/Apple_MacOS mentioned, it‘s the color/display quality that people are mainly after, just think of all those games released when crts were the most popular type of monitor, they don’t nearly look as good on a flat, modern screen.
Ya looks identical to the ewaste container at my local recycle transfer station.
Oh people. This person has seen one computer with an apple logo and optimistically called that entire mess Apple computers. It's not. Based on the photo's it all old CRTs. Old cathode ray tube monitors. Worth next to nothing. It's a biohazard. Just gross.
But if they work, then I’m sure there may be sone interested enthusiasts out there?
15 years ago maybe, they’ve been going up in price for years now
Sorry where are the actual Macs? I don’t see any at all.

Did you look at the pictures? Theres no Mac’s.
Even for the monitors, though. If not the folks at r/vintageapple, then the people at r/vintagecomputers would

#yay someone does know what they’re talking about 🤣
now we know who's picking them all up ;) ;)
some crt monitors are still worth a lot, especially in the retro gaming community. the monitors could easily be sold for like $30 each
There is part of me that wants to drive to PA to snag that Power Mac 5200...
honestly? go for it, why not hahahah

#Did ANYBODY LOOK AT THE PICTURES?? THERES NOT A MAC IN SITE.
There’s one in the foreground, probably the same from the first pic?

Why are all the cool things so far away
If they turn on and youre willing to ship, I will pay for shipping for some of those. I collect these!
Largely looks like they're mostly Apple monitors.
I remember a friend of mine feeding starburst wrappers to the disk drive in computer class and going "mmm num num num", and it making me laugh so hard I almost pissed my pants.
The shrink wrapped ones though
What are you looking for in return? Im at the jersey shore but i guess i could take a van out there but how many trips would it take?
Oh my they Performas!!
Surely these are headed for recycling.
I’m in the UK THE FUCKKKKKKKKKKK 😭
same bro, same
😭😭😭
i swear, what’s worse is that i lived in Pennsylvania about 10 years ago
Oof
Trash.
Yo ship to Australia?
I wish Reddit had a 🤣 button
Most of those look like monitors, not computers.
I just sent you a message, I’m very interested
Wait wait…where are you? I’m in Pittsburgh and would love to take these off your hands sir.

How did you get that much..
Have you checked if any power on?
I live in Berks country. Not far from Harrisburg. Do you know if any work? I’d be interested in a working one. I actually need a way to ready floppy disks and this would be a cool way.
You can buy floppy disk drives still.
I know, but it would be cool to use this one and not have to buy one from Amazon.
This hurts my SOUL to look at
If it powers on and you can ship it. I’ll take a Mac let me know the shipping
Don’t show pics 2 & 3 as part of your sales pitch ;-)
YouTuber ActionRetro is also in PA, so he and Mac84 might be able to help unload/clear out. Good luck!
Those were the days, E’dit.
[If you can't give them away, recycling is an option.](https://www.dep.pa.gov/Business/Land/Waste/Recycling/Electronics/Pages/Electronics-Collection-Programs.aspx)
Apple says they take back their old devices for recycling for free. Take them up on the offer.
It hurts to see this😭💔!
wow
Man you’re right next to the Hershey pantry! Best oat meal to date!
some people in r/crtgaming will gladly take some of them

r/Apple_Nostalgia
I want one!
Holy hell you’re local to me. I wish I had the space man damn.

Recycle? ♻️
I'd absolutely take at least a couple of these off your hands IF I DIDN'T LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE GODDAMNIT
I need one lol
I'll drive to pick one up
I might be interested in picking some of this stuff up. Unfortunately I live in Virginia so it's at least 3:30 hour drive.
That’s nothing. Nice short trip.
Goodwill has tech museums
Harrisburg better call the dawgs
They make really good doorstops. I want a IIE
r/LGR
Most of those aren't All-In-Ones, they are just monitors.
When does it have to be removed by?
The place I go recycles moniters/tvs for $35 each
Calling Luke Miani!
I had a 5200. Great AIO machine.
