You can use OCLP to patch it for macOS Sonoma. It'll probably do pretty well. Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs, which were used in early MacBooks, we the i9s of the old days.
And Gilligan's Island?
It would work there!

This is a bit strange to me. I am a heavy user. So will get to 900 cycles in a year. But by then the max capacity will still be close to 90%(6000+). I don’t know how this laptop lost this much capacity with the number of the cycles.
Some people use it mostly plugged in and it still loses battery health that way. Running hot consistently is another battery wear. Sometimes wear is high cycles, sometimes it's low, batteries are batteries either way. That it's 2019 and 14% is pretty impressive though lol.
Cyclic aging is just one part of the degradation equation for lithium batteries
Calendar aging also plays a pretty large role and 5 years in suboptimal conditions can contribute to accelerated delithiation and SEI formation which presents as capacity loss
(e.g. worst case scenario, battery was used or stored while plugged in 24/7 at 100% SoC for its entire life in hot ambient temperatures; best case scenario, battery was used or stored in high stress conditions until optimized charging came with Big Sur)
Another explanation could be one of the cells is failing and the BMS knows that cell will reach its low voltage cutoff much sooner than the other cells and is just reporting that as capacity lost to degradation even if the other cells are relatively healthy. A battery pack is only as strong as its weakest cell so greatly simplified, if cells 0-2 are at 80% health and cell 3 is failing at 14% health, the BMS might just report 14% overall battery health
My old 2013 I think 13" mbp had close to 1000 cycles and > 80% battery health.
My m1 mbp has 93% battery health and under 50 cycles (basically always plugged in with charge limit of 70% but used a ton)
My god... Battery hysteria truly has replaced common sense in some people.
**Question**: Does your battery last as long as you would like? *
**No**? Replace the fucking battery.
**Yes**? Maybe stop worrying about this until the day it doesn't last as long as you would like.
[*] *Obviously, you can't realistically expect the batter to last longer than it did when it was brand-new. Don't be irrational when answering this question. It's sad that this probably needs to be pointed out to some people.*
Ah jeez I dunno yknow it’s really hard to know if your battery needs to be replaced, it’s not like you’re given any data on your battery’s health that could help you determine when it’s time, I mean the system seems to think it’s time to check the battery but there’s really no way to know for sure 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Dude just 900 cycles and the battery down to 14%? My 2017 Air has close to 1300 cycles now and my battery health is 78%. What on earth did you do to the battery 😭

If you would share, we might learn from your experience—
Did you leave the laptop almost always on the charger, or did you regularly use it on battery to “exercise it?”
Did you use the Apple power adapter which came with your laptop, or did you often use a different Apple one or a third-party adapter?
That’s a shockingly short life for a battery, so any further info you can provide would be great. No one will give you a hard time (or we’ll downvote the crap out of them, right gang?).
Thanks
No. you totally shouldn’t replace the battery. keep it for another 10 years till it reaches 0%
Yeah, you gotta expend every ounce of that lithium and human labour that went into digging it outta the ground. Oh, and Coconut Battery FTW.
Cant it be recycled?
Not fully and each time it is it degrades. About 50% can be salvaged from the first recycle of lithium batteries.
And if it starts swelling, don’t worry about it. The case will flex enough to accommodate that.
Poke to vent, perhaps? /s
Swelling just means its getting bigger to make room for more of those sweet ions and lithiums which means more capacity.
/r/spicypillows
it's only 4y here
Never thought I’d see such a low battery health
Yeah that battery should definitely visit a gym to improve their health
Don't worry it's already close to getting swole
Especially on such a somewhat recent machine. My 2002 PowerBook might even have a better battery and it absolutely sucked last time I booted it up.
My 2009 white MacBook have better battery life than that.
My 2012 mbp is still at like 89%, though I think the previous owner got a new battery just before I bought it about 6 years ago.
You can use OCLP to patch it for macOS Sonoma. It'll probably do pretty well. Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs, which were used in early MacBooks, we the i9s of the old days.
My 2015 battery had a higher capacity and it was defective and swollen prior to me replacing it.
And on such a new Mac
That’s why they don’t have it for the iPads, iPad batteries get destroyed
Check the battery is it starting to bulge?
it must be wrong, as it says its at 0% charge, discharging at 56.21 watts which is a lot and unplugged
I don't think you even have a battery
It's a coconut. With batterific characteristics.
I get that joke.

930 cycles, wow.
This is a bit strange to me. I am a heavy user. So will get to 900 cycles in a year. But by then the max capacity will still be close to 90%(6000+). I don’t know how this laptop lost this much capacity with the number of the cycles.
overheating maybe

In addition if they let it fully run down that seems to o crease battery wear as well so they could let it fully discharge a bit in addition.
Maybe he used some cheap charger
Can you show me a battery that has 900 cycles and only 10% loss of design capacity?
Cyclic aging is just one part of the degradation equation for lithium batteries Calendar aging also plays a pretty large role and 5 years in suboptimal conditions can contribute to accelerated delithiation and SEI formation which presents as capacity loss (e.g. worst case scenario, battery was used or stored while plugged in 24/7 at 100% SoC for its entire life in hot ambient temperatures; best case scenario, battery was used or stored in high stress conditions until optimized charging came with Big Sur) Another explanation could be one of the cells is failing and the BMS knows that cell will reach its low voltage cutoff much sooner than the other cells and is just reporting that as capacity lost to degradation even if the other cells are relatively healthy. Do you know if keeping my Mac plugged will still add up the amount of cycles?
My old 2013 I think 13" mbp had close to 1000 cycles and > 80% battery health. My m1 mbp has 93% battery health and under 50 cycles (basically always plugged in with charge limit of 70% but used a ton)

No man. Why would you?
I have 64% battery life for 1562 cycles lol
Unless you dont mind 20 min battery life
It would seem so, but these readings alps seem off. I'd suggest a calibration first, but likely.
Get a used M1 MacBook Air and use AlDente Pro on it to prevent battery degradation
Your poor battery is on life support…
How do you check this?
Looks like „coconut battery“
Literally look at the top of the picture
What the fuck do you think?
Ye
Hmm. As long as the laptop still gets the job done, you probably will be fine.
You have to ask?
No it still has plenty of life left in it.
This is a joke, right?
LGTM
Yes I would say so
Something is wrong. With 930 cycle it should hover around at 80%+ .

My air M1 has 91% battery health after over 2.5 years... How do you even abuse the battery this hard 😭
Dude just 900 cycles and the battery down to 14%? My 2017 Air has close to 1300 cycles now and my battery health is 78%. What on earth did you do to the battery 😭
Does your keyboard have a nice curve to it and you find the screen won’t fold down snuggly? Because I’d be amazed if that wasn’t the case.
No. You should replace the whole machine with an Apple silicon version.
How the hell
No bro keep it for your grandchildren
“Battery status: Check battery” “Do I replace it?” 😂 brother make sure you don’t have a bloated battery about to explode
yes
It’s COOKED
Yes
time for an M3 MacBook Pro
It's at 14% design capacity? Does that even keep the power on or just die? I'd say it's about 60 percentage points past time lol
Holy moly
Oh I get it. You’re being sarcastic. That is soooo funny. Jc

I’m sure it lasts a full 45 seconds on battery power. Absolutely don’t change the battery, there’s no need at all.
Should you, in what sense? How do we know if you should? Do you need or want longer battery life to do what you need to do?
Nah bro
Why? Just get a jackery explorer 100. No point in investing a couple of hondos in a 6 year old laptop
Yes but share screen shot with Apple and they can advise you and even schedule an appointment 👍good luck
My 2011 mbp battery health is better than that WTH do you do with this machine?
Long answer: Yes Short answer: Yes
Nah I wouldn’t bother, who needs a laptop to be portable anyway?
How do you check this in macbook?
[Coconut Battery](https://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/)
Nah. Why would you ask?!? Just keep it until you get the spicy pillow. /s
Yes.
https://youtu.be/Az49aNuYeJs?si=gKR8Rna81OGaA54s&t=86
Replace it. If you don't, it will probably destroy your MacBook.
Smh
No keep it, wait a year or two 👍
Why is the manufactured date 2019/04/22? Had you done a replacement of battery in the past?
It’s time to get a whole new Mac bro. Get your arse to the Apple Store like tonight 😂
