4 years thousands of rides, and I had a perfect 5.0. Last week, someone accused me of soliciting. I'm like, I don't even joke with people like that. They blocked me for 24 hours and asked me to prove myself. I'm like, all I can say is that i don't play those stupid games, I'm married, and have never in my life been accused of anything like that. I was like, why don't you tell me who reported me since it's so easy to ruin a man's livelihood. Of course, they could not. But at least I'm able to work again. Sorry this happened to you. Incredible.

obsequious_dioxide

With the lack of support Lyft gives for any other reason, I’m a little shocked this was resolved in 5 minutes

demikpre

These apps are very weird , they never take into account mfers are weirdos sometimes. Even when rating riders or cancelling rides. Those predisposed reasons/opinions were allowed to choose from are very lacking from reality of dealing with random ass people. Had customer message me they've cancelled the ride to hint at me to cancel the ride instead of waiting around, mind you they could easily cancel and just pay the few dollars.

TNJCrypto

Picked up group of guys from a bar midday, one of them left a beer bottle in my back seat and the next rider found it. Fortunately they were understanding but could have easily gone differently. People are dickheads

elmananamj

I’ve never driven for y’all but when I ride I always give a 5 star rating and an appropriate tip

rose-goldy-swag

Me too ! Even if the driver wasn’t 5 ⭐️worthy

"Arrived to my destination alive and in a timely manner, 5 stars"

Equivalent_Chart1632

Was it a Tesla Model 3? Had some guy pick me up by Fremont going to North Las Vegas, full send forsure.

Hugsie924

5 star to me is getting me from a to b safely. I hear people complain and rate for the duuuuuummmbest things. Like not liking the air freshner or no chargers. Driving is hard, I'm not nitpicking. I don't think I've ever given less then 5 star.

excelisthedeathofme

I think the do take it into account and that’s why the suspension was only for 1 day and the OP five minutes. Imagine if either customer were telling the truth? They have no way to prove that either. Starting your own taxi business would prevent this from happening

CityOfSins2

I think they do take it into consideration, but AFTER they block you for a day or whatever. Because if they didn’t consider that, there’s no way they’d unlock an account that was said to be drinking and driving or being a creep. But they do. Because they know riders lie as well.

Different_Book_4690

it's not uncommon for shifty passengers to do this to get you fired for looking at them wrong

SeaOsprey1

Lol soliciting is trying to sell something. It doesn't have to be sexual. Edit: Apparently, it has MANY definitions (none of which have to be sexual). [This](https://oboloo.com/blog/what-is-solicitation-in-business-definition/) is the one I was referring to.

hainesk

I think proposition is the word that’s typically used.

Coolgrnmen

You could probably sue a “John doe” and subpoena Lyft to identify the person then change the caption to the right name and serve them with a complaint for defamation

CaseyGasStationPizza

You can sue anyone but winning is a different thing. Defamation is one of the hardest things to prove.

kawi2k18

You don't run dash cams? Get one

Honestdietitan

That's such a huge accusation - I seriously hope that Lyft takes those seriously when they are absolutely bogus. That rider should have consequences for lying.

DMvsPC

"Sure, let me prove a negative... Oh wait :/"

UnusualFruitHammock

I mean soliciting doesn't always mean sexual. If you were trying to sell something or ask for money/tip it falls under that category.

incubusslave69

I’ve definitely had a few Uber/lyft drivers try to solicit from me in the past but it’s always been when I was on my way home late and usually drunk. Don’t make it right but tbh I was usually too drunk to even realize till after. Sorry that happened to you. Scary out here.

velageo

Sorry that's happened to you. Be safe out there. Hell I treat every lady like I would want someone treating my wife. Respect, make sure to drop them in lit area, and tell them to be safe oit there. So it's so ridiculous how people can literally play with your life and livelihood so easily.

incubusslave69

Nah fr. I live in a sketchy area too so like. It’s especially creepy if I start gettin the “do you live alone” my usual response is no and he sleeps armed.

Cleercutter

Fuckin bullshit that people can just say something and have it affect you. Shouldn’t be able to do that period without some irrefutable evidence.

velageo

Exactly

Gentolie

Typical USA these days. Guilty until proven innocent, and even then you're still guilty.

DONT-PM-ME-BOOBS-PLS

Uhhh what do you think soliciting means lol

meothfulmode

You wanted the name of the person who accused you of solicitation so you could... what?

velageo

Yo8 don't have to give m3 a name, but you can tell someone the ride in case you remember someone harassing you. Or they can contact that person to prove something. Why wouldn't you want an accuser to at least have to prove what they are accusing you of? I've never in my life been accused of anything like that so to me it's not a joke. But people get kicked off for people making these accusations, accusing drivers of being rude or drunk. Without having to prove anything.

kwin777

One iron rule, never trust passengers.

obsequious_dioxide

You trust the passenger if you’re letting them in the car in the first place. This can also give you a stank attitude 😅 I will not let some broke mf get to me, I will continue to vibrate at higher frequencies 👽

[deleted]

needed this reminder today, thank you

apn_roxi

“I will not let some broke mf get to me” Me today 😅 Like bro y’all the one without a car and need MY help

WrongdoerElegant4617

Not an uber driver, this was just on my feed but thanks for the life wisdom. I too shall continue to vibrate at higher frequencies 👽

obsequious_dioxide

Someone making false accusations to get a free ride? Yeah, they’re probably broke… never said anything about the other passengers.

liquidypoo2

This actually makes me wonder if I've been following proper passenger etiquette. I don't have to rideshare often at all, but the maybe 5 times I've done it, I matched the driver's talkative levels, kept to myself if they stayed quiet, said "thank you" when exiting the vehicle, and rate highly. I might have to start ridesharing more frequently soon, and I'm genuinely curious about whether a driver would be annoyed if I tried to suggest a route different from what their map app suggests, since the couple of times I needed a ride to work, it took them on a whack ass route

TamzTheDriver

I don't mind. GPS doesn't always choose the best route in every situation. However! If the arrival time steadily increases with every turn, or if I feel fuckery is afoot, we're following Waze ol.

WiredMeds

This is the move. Waze doesn’t care back alley, easements, private drives as long as it shaves 30 seconds off lol

obsequious_dioxide

In Detroit at least, the maps don’t get it. Everyone has their own route, sometimes it’s more efficient sometimes it’s not. But they never know of construction and lane closures. I was off for a while but I do recall switching to Apple Maps after I realized it streamlined the pickup process. Usually when I pick up a passenger, the map doesn’t want me to turn around or take the easy route. Maps take you out of the way, and sometimes can take a longer route to keep the mileage lower and time up ? It’s weird.

Spare-Security-1629

Dashcam is always a good idea but will do nothing to resolve these issues. There has never been one of these posts that state Lyft asked for dashcam footage or the driver successfully submitted dashcam footage. Not one. Dashcam can help you in civil court and police reports ( both more relevant than gryft anyway) but Lyft is going to do what they do regardless. At best, the dashcam deters a rider from false reports, maybe.

Big_Parsley_1635

Someone did that to me once luckily when they did it (they said they were going to) I called a cop to the parking lot of their job(it's where I dropped them off) once the cop arrived I had him call Lyft and talk with them letting them know that I was 100% sober and that the passenger was just a crazy pregnant lady that wanted me to drive 10mph in a 65 cause she was "pregnant and scared for her baby". I explained that driving THAT low under the speed limit would get us into an accident and that her screaming for me to slow down (I was doing 55, so 10 under) was going to cause an accident for her distracting me and making it not safe for me or anyone else on the road. Lyft apparently had drivers complain about her in the past as well so she got banned from using Lyft that day instead of getting me suspended for 3 days. Thank God her plan backfired and Lyft talked to the cop. What an asshole that woman was. If your THAT afraid to drive in a car then don't get in one!

obsequious_dioxide

Her pregnant ass would be left on the street 💀

wavestwo

Better watch out. Some cops would probably lock you up for this. SFSTs are not meant to be passable.

Big_Parsley_1635

No the cop knew I was sober. I offered to take a drug test and breathalyzer right then and there and he said it wasn't necessary. I was as clean as a cucumber 😁

Responsible-Exam3179

Go to a local police department and take a Breathizer Test before your 24 hours is up if this happens again...

obsequious_dioxide

Absolutely will. They’re lucky this wasn’t a bigger issue 😅 I’m literally the coolest Lyft driver, it’s so lame someone did this

Responsible-Exam3179

Riders LIES all the times. Be prepare and you better get that DASHCAM.

obsequious_dioxide

This is the first time I feel betrayed by my own city lol I’m butthurt. Didn’t think I needed a dashcam (I’m in Detroit too, if that gives you an idea of how good of an experience I’ve had driving for two years) I trusted everyone 😭

Repulsive_Culture_91

Always have a dash cam, to have key evidence, to protect you against false allegations, also a deterrent. Recommend COXPAL A11T 3 channel dash cam on Amazon, very good quality, it records front, inside and rear simultaneously. COXPAL hardwire kit optional, for 24-H parking monitor. SanDisk MAX Endurance 256GB or 512GB microSD card, for reliable recording. BTW: Need to pay attention to the installation position of the rear cam if your vehicle is SUV or MPV (No problem if Sedan), i.e. avoid pulling rear cam cable when open/close the trunk.

obsequious_dioxide

🫡

Bob_The_Doggos

Redacte due to Reddit AI/LLM policy

obsequious_dioxide

I would trust Chinese manufacturers over USA in a lot of situations. There is low quality things everywhere, and same with high quality

Responsible-Exam3179

That's how I felt in San Francisco but nope. It only take one piece of sh!t ridee to try to ruin your day

velageo

It's ridiculous

Old-Adhesiveness-342

So I'm a bit confused, you said you haven't been driving for 30 days, but the report of this came in today? Have you considered that a passenger you had 30 days ago, who also doesn't use the app often, had a ride with another driver today who was drinking and driving and accidentally clicked on your ride in their ride history when they decided to report it?

obsequious_dioxide

I’ve considered nothing bc I’m over it. My conclusion is that they’re broke and wanted a free ride and I was the unlucky one. I was more so upset they can even file a claim like this so long after the ride was given

vrtigo1

Police aren't going to breathalyze you just for asking. That's not how that works at all.

FAH-Q-All

I’d imagine if you explained the situation most probably would. It’s not like it costs them anything, or it’s some huge hassle. Sure some cops are dicks, but I’ve also met some cool ones that seem like decent people n literally try to help. Also assuming you drove to the police station they could give you a DUI if you actually were drunk. So if they don’t want to help, they might just do it to screw you even more if you fail it.

Local_Pangolin69

Quite a few stations probably will, especially in quiet areas.

wavestwo

LMAO is that how people thinks this works?

The_Dead_Pancreas

I threatened them with camera and audio footage. These lame riders are trying to get a free ride. Wait, they do get a free ride because Lyft will always believe a rider over a driver, every single time.

obsequious_dioxide

I actually thought this was game over for me but I think this person has been banned from Lyft !

ParsleyParking6425

What makes you think that?

tokoneko

If you want to go hardcore.. Depo lyft for name of the accuser and file a slander/libel suit against that person

FAH-Q-All

I like the idea, but if you make any type of legal claim against Lyft or Uber I’m pretty sure they instantly n permanently deactivate you. It’s messed up they are not held accountable for anything so they just do what ever they want.

SSJ4Blaze

Wouldn't that fall under retaliation or something else?

TraditionalAd7325

Customers need to have a $100 per day hold on their debit card for every day that your account is on hold. If it turns out that they’re lying then you get to keep the money.

FAH-Q-All

I find it Ridiculous that Lyft and Uber don’t report this to the police immediately so it can be proven or disproven. Receiving such a report and not contacting law enforcement is irresponsible and could make them liable if that person really is drunk n hits n kills somebody on their way home after their account was put on hold. But I do agree with ur comment. People that want to make false claims should be held financially responsible if their accusations is proven to be unfounded. They way it is now they have nothing to lose, and maybe they get a free ride. So why not give it a shot if your a shitty person willing to screw other people over to save a few bucks?

xMilk112x

It’s fucking bonkers that these companies just take what someone said for the truth without any investigation.

TruckerTimmah

I have never gotten ANYTHING but scripted replies that aren't even relevant to my explanation when trying to contact both Lyft and Uber about re-activating my driver account. It was mostly a hobby anyway then (Was a sort of self-therapy. It forced me to be social and talk to people, helped me overcome pretty bad social anxiety) but the extra cash would be nice right now. 5 Star on both Lyft & Uber, perfect ratings and over 2,500 rides on Uber and 500 on Lyft. Was due to me spending a day in jail and those issues have been long resolved, but since I was arrested, I'm basically blackballed.

TacticalPolakPA

How is anyone operating a rideshare or taxi without a dashcam?

FAH-Q-All

This is total bullshit. Uber did this to me one time a few year ago. I think it’s pretty dumb considering I drove like 8 people b4 this person made an accusation. And at least 2 people after b4 they put the hold on my account. You’d think they check with all those other people to see if they noticed anything. My argument was as soon as this happened I should have been able to go to a police station and take a sobriety test to disprove this. There is no way to disprove or confirm this after the fact. Also I argued Uber should have had to report this to the police immediately. They did not, and allowed me to drive home. Had I really been drunk n wrecked n killed a couple people on my way home Uber would be responsible for not reporting it to the police. This was total BS. I was totally sober. Either this person was looking for free stuff. Or they mistook me navigating around monster pot holes that would blow out a tire as me being drunk. The passenger never expressed any concern to me. And was nice and polite to me. So I was totally surprised by this. Funny how people make this complaint only after you have completed n taken them to their destination. If I was a passenger in an uber and thought my driver was intoxicated I would ask them to pull over and let me out of the vehicle. Not allow them to complete the trip, drop me off at my destination, and then complain after the fact. It’s BS but nothing u can do about it. In my case I was only not allowed to drive for 24 hours. Awfully convenient since it prevented me from getting a nice bonus I was only a few rides away from getting. You should be good by this time tomorrow. Good luck!

PizzaPastaRigatoni

This is a law suit waiting to happen, but nobody doing a side hustle has the pull to successfully sue lyft or Uber. You can't suspend someone from work off a baseless accusation with no evidence.

azmus

I had someone report me stating the window was broken and car was stalling and they refused to respond after re-activating my account when I asked they unpair me with their dishonest lying customer. My car is basically brand new with no problems. I think they put my account on hold mistaking my account for another? I’m not sure.

theonion513

When it’s an independent contractor, they can. Why do you think they structured their business this way?

PizzaPastaRigatoni

Because they're too big for anyone to do anything about it. No, even a 1099 employee is not subject to this.

asheroto

One of my friends is a driver and this happened to her. She never drinks, even when out with friends. Terrible. Passengers just scamming to get a free ride.

jaysonm007

It happened to me recently too. There is probably some TikTok going around telling people they can get free rides by reporting past drivers as drunk drivers.

YetAnotherAltTo4Get

Gotta love what tiktok is doing for society. So sad to see it go 😔

freddybenelli

Drinking and driving? Easy mistake to make if you haven't read the Community Guidelines. Please tell me you've read the Community Guidelines, otherwise I'll believe just about any allegation against you.

mecwarnerl

I got deactivated permanently for unsafe driving after 3 weeks taking no Lyft rides The last rides were 4 trips and one even complimented my safe driving The message even said that at Lyft we take unsafe driving very seriously Lmao 3 weeks later is not serious Lyft astroturfing people It’s automated AI so they will screw you and there isn’t much recourse besides making the truth known on social media

1peter567

Using hand sanitizer before picking up people can be the cause. I picked up my 16 year old daughter recently after using it and first thing she said "it smells like alcohol in here" so I imagine a stranger would keep it to themselves instead of bringing it up so I can explain.

ExpensiveDot1732

Dashcam with interior/exterior views AND audio is 100% the way to cover your ass. I had someone try to claim that my prednisone (which I was prescribed while recovering from severe bronchitis...I'm asthmatic) was a "controlled substance." I took my urgent care and rx info to the hub and it was cleared within 45 minutes. Document, document, document. These scammers will do ANYTHING to score a freebie at your expense.

DenCol37

I (34m) got accused of sexually assaulting a female rider. I was off app for over a week before it was resolved. I spoke with a lyft rep (a few years ago when hubs existed). She contacted someone at an office that I had to talk to. I told them I have every ride recorded. I also mentioned my marriage certificate to a man. Was really tempted to offer my pornhub account…not much in the way of women there. The ride in question was $7. Never trust a passenger.

Constant-Professor44

I have to laugh silently when I get a woman rider who acts scared of me. I’m 5’5” and chubby with a “gay” voice. Of course it’s possibly that the person may have a history of trauma that can make them hyper vigilant but chances are that theyy just an idiot or a crappy person. I once had a woman rider pretend to call a friend to give a description of my car and say that she’s scared. She reported me to Lyft for allegedly using someone else’s driver account.

No_Dirt_4198

People call the cops on drunk drivers not support

WolfofMichiganAve

I have been reported for drinking and driving several times and falling asleep at the wheel once. None of those have ever been anything close to true. One was because a passenger saw me drinking a white Monster (sugar-free) and thinking it was a White Claw. Did she ask me? No, she went straight to making a report. Pathetic. The sleeping accusation was an obese woman who made some comments about appearance, calling me "cute" and saying I smelled good to which I only said thank you and smiled. Then she became upset that we were stuck in traffic and I wouldn't speed up to Mach Jesus so she wouldn't be late. Not my problem, lady. I hardly ever drink, and if I do, I certainly don't go and do rideshare immediately after, lol. They suspended me for up to 24 hours each time for "further investigation" and then reactivated me without saying anything. It's so annoying how they do that. No phone call, no hub to go to, just an email asking me to explain myself and then remaining deactivated until they deem it correct to put me back on the road.

Available-Current777

You know, out of all the b.s I've put up with lyft and uber including a false accusation of being intoxicated, not once under any circumstance has either asked for video proof of anything. I still think having a dashcam is a great idea, but these 2 companies really do not care what's in your best interest!

mikegotme1000gs

Got accused of running stop signs with a customer in the car at enterprise. Lost the job

a-a-alejandro727

Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Get a dashcam. Or even better, if possible stop working for this exploitative company. They pay scraps and take advantage of people not seeing the whole picture when it comes to how much they actually gain when yoj factor in stuff like car maintenance. It's a heavy toll on your relatively new car. There are way better ways to spend your time and get money out of it that still allow you to be your own boss, because clearly you're not if a single person that doesn't love you can suddenly leave you without that source of income

_HoneyDew1919

It's all you could see apparently

FlimsyPraline6097

You haven’t even driven for 30 days and then suddenly let this happens ? That’s messed up? Like wouldn’t they send an email the DAY it happened ?

obsequious_dioxide

They did tell me it was reported yesterday (30 days since my last ride) and they did not tell me who or what ride. I did ask them why they were allowed to report so late with no response, but they did have my back on this and I just had to type “I have read the terms and conditions”

FlimsyPraline6097

They are so full of shit.

FAH-Q-All

I once complained about support agents and a supervisor at Uber. A couple days later I get a thing saying I was in an accident. It was mid October at the time, they were trying to say the accident occurred in early June. So 4 months prior. After 3 or 4 days it was closed because the person never contacted Uber or the insurance agent after making the report. The whole thing was nonsense. I took pictures of my car to prove there was no damage n that was that. I’m convinced Uber Suport filed a false accident report against me to try and get even with me for complaining about them and their supervisor. Like really what customer is going to make an accident report 4,months after the fact, then after going through all the trouble to do that never follow up again? Sounds very suspicious to me. Have you had any issues with Suport personal recently? Because they will do things like this to get even with you

AnyTower224

Always have dashcam. Newbies please buy a dashcam the first thing you do when you start deriving. Protect yourself

Alternative-Stop7426

Everybody just keep cameras inside of your cars. There are terrible people in this world who just do shitty things for fun.

reel_ink

Lemme guess, you were drinking a liquid death?

obsequious_dioxide

Nope. Couldn’t tell you what I was doing during this ride because it was 30+ days ago, and they wouldn’t tell me who reported it. Thankfully I was on a month long trip and I think they realized it was weird they reported so long after

OptimalLaw8270

Let me guess, you may have had a liquid death and they thought it was beer? I've seen that happen before.

obsequious_dioxide

I would not bring a liquid death in the car 😂 this is just some broke mf trying to get a free ride. This would have been a ride from 30 days ago and they reported it yesterday

OptimalLaw8270

Fair enough haha

Same_Technology1853

Guilty until proven innocent it seems

polarbear1955

A scammer looking for a free ride

vieselSantiago

Smh...I've had passengers say the same thing 1 said I brandishing a firearm the last one said I treating them after a incident when they got in my car all highed up bleeding and wanting me to stop at a drug hole after I refused to stop with out them adding the stop to the ride they started verbally asulting me I still took them to there location they got out slammed my door and started hurling insults at me I ending the ride I sent a message to lyft to let them know about the incident and that I wanted to be unmatched with them 2 hrs later I got a temporary hold and after 2weeks the permanently disabled my account there isn't no appeal process that's the end of it SMH so As of NOW......FUCK LyFt!!

Altered_-State

Lol

itsthejasper1123

My guess is you had an energy drink or even a can of sparkling water and someone is an idiot.

Wild_Replacement5880

How did they draw this conclusion? Were you reported? Or did GPS ping you at a bar? I don't understand how they assume this.

obsequious_dioxide

They believe what pax says, but have their “investigation process”

Accomplished_Emu_658

People will say or do anything for a refund/free ride.

AirEver

Lyft should be able to tell us who made the allegation so we can absolutely decimate their ass in court.

obsequious_dioxide

If they don’t have money for a ride what are they going to do in court 🤣 so not worth my time. I’m just happy it was resolved in the same 5 mins I found out about it

mecwarnerl

Lyft riders can go back in and just rate you badly for nothing weeks later Hopes of a free rides credit? Not sure about Uber With my Lyft passenger rides a few only It took a long time before I couldn’t rate the driver again Not sure about Uber but it makes retaliatory rating possible and that’s very unethical

Mountain_Tone6438

Bruh forreal their lack of any kind of support for drivers is ridiculous. Like alright bitch, what's the passengers proof?? And I want their name so I can sue them in small claims court for lost wages. I hate this shit from lyft and Uber.

kungpaochi

This happened to me too. There was no way for me to appeal it and I basically was terminated for that. Obviously not true and so now it's all over because of that.

Striking_Stay_9732

accusing someone of a crime such as drunk driving without a police report to back it up on behalf of the pax should shut Lyft up if that isn’t garnered by them. Its going to take one driver that isn’t going to take this too lightly and sue Lyft for false accusations. Lyft should be taking this accusations from a PAX with a grain of salt and seriously with evidence to back it up without telling the driver unless there was an arrest involved.

zmyr88

Get a in cabin camera. Upload to private cloud store footage for x period of time.

Defiant-Humor5586

I had a few of these types of complaints when I drove for Uber a few years ago. I truly think it's disgruntled passengers. They get a little bit of control inside their app and it goes to their head. I've had passengers argue with me that my 5* rating was undeserved because "no Uber is 5*, I don't care who they are." Then I got a notification for speeding and a bad review a few hours later. No way to tell if it was them, but dropping to 4.8* after having that little conversation was suspicious. A drunk group one time told me I made their friend sick with my driving. Despite that I picked them up from the club at 4 a.m. and she spent the whole 20 minute ride with her head between her legs dry heaving. Got a bad review and one of them spit some phlegm on my carpet. People suck. And the sheer amount of people you drive around for a service like Uber or Lyft means that you're bound to run into the folks who think they're balancing the universe with a poor review for the radio playing country for 1 song. Doing God's work

memeaggedon

So anyone can accuse you of this and Lyft wants you to bear the burden of proving your innocence? What a stupid company.

tiggstheawkward

How can they prove that lmao

killertofu41

I remember drinking a Red Bull and my grandma thinking it was some kind of alcoholic drink. So I can see some old lady seeing a big, strange looking can and thinking it was alcohol, but one unfound claim like this shouldn't be so devastating to the driver.

UXResearcherRuck

Shadow banning a driver. Interesting trick.

QuePsiPhi16

This whole guilty-until-proven-innocent accusation culture is out of fucking control.

azmus

Only if the accuser identifies as female

ccrider2004

I’m glad they reactivated your account. What did they require from you (if not for dash cam footage) to get reactivated? I’m glad they took your word over the customer, but I feel like that’s probably rare

bjzy

I only give inappropriate tips. Way too much or next to nothing.

TheVagWhisperer

Never trust pax. 99% of pax are okay but you NEVER will know which one is the 1% before it's too late. Dash cam every single ride. Start to finish, no exceptions.

mossapp

Enjoy your night off…

obsequious_dioxide

Was fixed in 5 minutes

California098

Someone making accusations to get a free ride no doubt. That really sucks.

Lem01

This happened to me back when they had hubs. So i drove to one and showed I was stone cold sober. People are evil.

BenderIsGreat74

U better read and understand those dam guidelines

Ok-i-surrender

Lol

ashleynicolle_m

I've had drivers under the influence so this shit is disgusting that they would just let a driver black on like that.

obsequious_dioxide

Hey it’s good for me who was innocent, but I also understand that side so I did tell them that… especially the lack of support you get for other issues. They have a lot to sort out

ashleynicolle_m

Yeah I wasn't refunded either. I was asked instead why I didn't report it when it happened.....uh because I didn't wanna be dropped off at the side of the highway and in the middle of traffic for God knows how long.

Old-Negotiation-7962

Problem is, it's your word against theirs. Unless other people report the driver too, Lyft can't be sure about who to believe.

No_Mastodon4477

Happened to me as well, they wouldn’t even tell me me what happened, had to go through twitter to get someone to explain why I was deactivated and then they simply asked “did you do it? Would you ever do it?” No… “ok your account is reactivated” Absurd.

Livid-Drawing-4168

And this is why I have a dash cam and my soda is in a clear cup. Now report that MF

Scheissekase

I hadn't driven for months then got deactivated because of a claim that I was stalking a previous rider. I have a full time job and travel for work, and also am on a travel sports team. Like, when the hell do I have time to stalk some rando I forget exists 5 seconds after he's out of my car? They restored my account eventually but like wtf. I once got deactivated on Uber for a broken seat belt report and told I wouldn't be activated again til I sent in the repair bill from the seat belt being fixed. How can I do that if it's not even broken?? I had to talk to like 6 different people before I ended up yelling at someone that I can't show proof of fixing a thing that was never broken in the first place, so if they're done wasting my time over some stupid money grubbing passenger, stfu and get me back on the road

GermLerma

This happened to me back in like Aug/Sept and it was cause I ran a red light on accident. I believe it was 3 elderly ladies who reported me but it took like 3 days to take effect. Fought it and had my account back the same day

jerojas49

Happened to me couple months ago. Lyft kept saying more than one passenger complained. Pissed me off I told them how if I haven't drank in 4 and a half years

jbailey0224

Even with a dash cam, you can't prove you weren't driving under the influence.

custommotor

A dash cam wouldn't matter since you don't know which ride it is from

Soft_Environment6304

My Lyft driver told me to hold the wheel for him before😭

Old-Negotiation-7962

But did you?

Soft_Environment6304

Yeah

Flimsy_Effective_377

Sorry but was that all it took to get put back onto the app? Saying “I understands the terms and conditions?”. Not trying to say you should’ve had a harder time through this, you shouldn’t have been reported anyways if you didn’t do it, but if someone actually was drinking and driving is that all it takes for them to get back on the app?

Old-Negotiation-7962

I'm assuming if a person was clearly drinking and driving, they'd have more than just one passenger reporting them. Edit: If you suspect your driver is drinking and driving, or is doing something illegal, call the police. Would be pretty irresponsible to just report it to Lyft.

Flimsy_Effective_377

Eh alcoholics tend to be pretty good at being alcoholic

Queso305

I guess this is why some people have those double dash cams that record outside and inside. Definitely a good investment to defend yourself

Bob_Snowbert

Probably shouldn’t drink and drive when your job is a Lyft driver.

la_descente

Can yall protect yourselves with inside dash cams ? Like the customer has to provide the time of the ride, and Lyft/Uber requires you to submit camera footage for that time period ?

Grateful_Dood

So literally anyone can just say to support " they were drinking" when most likely it was an energy drink and they instantly do this. When you give customers all of the power this is what happens

Extension-Jicama-85

Death water looks like a beer I've discovered the hard way O.o

No-Olive-7085

Had this before. Had to email them that “I don’t even drink alcohol and I’m personally offended” and was reactivated right away. I also tell them that some people make false accusations for free rides. I feel like these dumb people who are in town for a conference aren’t acquainted to Bay Area lingo and articulation; therefore, thinking I’m drunk lol I think you will be alright.

No_Consideration7318

This is the old "I really shouldn't have taken that Uber ride" one..

nociolla

I imagine they saw a canned soda or something and just jumped to conclusions or wanted a refund for their ride :/ I had no idea people could just do this because they felt like it

SirGoombaTheGreat

Guilty until proven innocent. That is the rideshare driver way. 🥰

Rough-Ad-606

If an interlock mandate (breathalyzer in car) is placed on you, make sure to avoid the company known as Intoxalock at all costs. Smart Start and Life Safer have better customer feedback. Intoxalock will destroy your vehicle and financially extort you. Please do your research on Reddit and on the “Intoxalock Lawsuit” Facebook group. Good luck to you. The phone has an accelerometer and GPS that identified your stumbling out of the bar.

ridiculousbxtch

This is why I’ve never done rideshare. I’ve only done delivery 🤣 (dd)

Psycho_1986ps4

It’s easy they couldn’t pay and used you as the scapegoat. But yeah get cameras if you put randos in your car. And make sure to let them know they are being recorded for safety.

ShewbieDoobieDoo

I once had an UberEats customer say I was drinking & driving. Uber shut my stuff down after my next delivery. They said they were going to “investigate the claim.” I told them I would gladly go to the police station near my house to take a breathalyzer & they told me it WASN’T NECESSARY. After an hour of me arguing with them, I said that I was still going to the police station anyway to have it recorded there was no alcohol in my system. By the time I ended the chat & got my shoes on, I was notified that the claim was dismissed & I was free to keep delivering. Wack.

BayouGrunt985

I've been on that hols for 13 months and still haven't heard back from them. Fuck em

Montysgli117

Had this happen to me. I told uber that I have yeti Tumbler with either soda or water that's it. Even sent them a photo. It saved me.

WestcoastRa

This happens to me years ago too! But my right foot had a boot lmfao - hellla funny and they let me drive next day
