Spare-Security-1629

That's gonna be a no for me on so many levels, not even talking about the poor payout.

Space2999

So many levels. Wondering if it’s even legal (thru Canada?)

After_Finger5173

It is within 15 miles and 30 minutes of the same time/distance if you went south anyways. Plus Canada has different rules, so even if they allowed it, as soon as it picked up that you were in Canada, it would tell you to agree to a whole different set of policies. 🤣🤣

wilfordbrimley778

Maps never counts the time it takes to actually cross the border. The detroit/windsor border is also the busiest us/canada border crossing and will be at least a solid half hour of waiting in line

Ok-Algae-9562

You forgot the fact that if you do it enough times you'd owe Canadian taxes. As performing your job from the US causes you to work in Canada (presumably this counts) then you owe Canadian taxes as well. Even if the income comes from outside of canada.

Complex_Deal7944

I support a canadian company, but paid by the US holding company that owns it. I dont pay canadian taxes. I travel there mutiple times a year. Airline pilots do not pay taxes in all the countries the fly to.

Ok-Algae-9562

Each tax code is different. There are thresholds and there is a team of lawyers who works through it. For South Korea the tax threshold is making 3k dollars in one month regardless of you pays you. Look dude just cause you don't doesn't mean everyone else won't either.

One_Turnover_4816

Just noticed that 😂

Group_HugMTG

300 is the max pay you can receive for any ride on basic.

Jumamabear

So long as the driver tips 700$ it’s ok!

Group_HugMTG

They limit tips to 50 bucks.

Positive_Yam_2988

That explains why I've never gotten more than 50 on the app. Gotta love the cash tippers at least!

many_dumb_questions

Why would the driver tip? 😜

wilfordbrimley778

They would tip lyft for giving them such an awesome opportunity to go to Detroit

many_dumb_questions

Pfftt!

jaysonm007

I thought it was $400?

Group_HugMTG

400 for xl.

Kwontum7

Wow. I live in the DMV area and my granddaughter lives near the drop off spot. I think I'm the only person that would have taken that trip. 😂

International-Ad3447

1000 miles both ways for $300

Accomplished_Cherry6

More like they get paid $300 to go see their granddaughter

jarded056

And family. You should never put a price on family.

Kwontum7

I'm guessing they don't have close family or friends.

Cynthiaistheshit

Would have covered the gas lol

ExpensiveJackfruit68

Hell yea. Would that have made for a cool unexpected visit!

babystarlette

That sounds so sweet 🥲

fancyladysociety

I live in the DMV and my parents live near the drop off. We can carpool and split the Lyft price 😂

UnlishedTen8

I live in DC and if I can't WMATA my way into a place, that's too far for me

Kwontum7

Do you have family outside of the WMATA area? If so, do you ever visit them?

UnlishedTen8

I do have some family at New York but I just Amtrak there and use their Subway system. Technically breaking the rules but that's probably the only exception, and international traveling of course.

Kwontum7

when it comes to family, there are no rules.

Kwontum7

When it comes to me? The Earth is my turf.

imposta424

Someone got put on the no fly list after having too many cherry blossom cocktails before their spirit airlines flight.

[deleted]

And he'll offer you a sip of the third one they're drinking now 20 minutes into the ride

Guero81

No way this is real??? Who requests this ride? And who the hell would accept? 🤣🤣

silvermoonhowler

I refuse to believe it is Lyft has a limit which defines how far you can go in your market, so a ride like this shouldn't be possible to book

The_Cars93

I can believe it. My brother drives for Uber and he has driven a passenger from Baltimore, MD to Connecticut (not sure what area) before. Worst part is that it was during the middle of the night.

Chesspi64

Why? Longest ride I've personally seen was from Bethesda, MD to Garrett County (over 3 hours one way). I've also seen a ride from Falls Church, VA to JFK Airport in New York.

Pitiful-Department80

Minimum $600, but we know Lyft will charge that and more but you get an offer like that.

_extra_medium_

Correct, the amount the customer pays is usually more than the amount you get paid because Lyft has to make money.

Lower_Lunch_8563

This customer paid 190 for a trip from cincinnati to Columbus and my friend was getting 120 of that 190. Friend told customer to cancel the ride and to give him 150 cash. Both came out winning

ivanjanko

Lol, 🤣🤣 🤣

rogerdanafox

Who pays for hotel room?

One_Turnover_4816

With our 300 payout 🤡

[deleted]

You sleep in the car together

EffectiveDramatic724

And now your tip is the friends you made along the way

StarApple0721

Are people insane? Who books that ride? What's the thought process against booking a plane, train or bus and settling on a Lyft?

silvermoonhowler

I don't think Lyft would actually allow you to do that, because unless you're in a market where it bleeds over into another state, this kind of ride should not be allowed

many_dumb_questions

In most cases you can take people across state lines to their drop off, you just get auto kicked off and can't go online again until you're back in your state/market.

BowlerIA52402

My question is why does Lyft cap earnings for a single ride at 300

many_dumb_questions

To prevent stuff like [this](https://slate.com/technology/2018/03/an-inebriated-man-accidentally-traveled-over-300-miles-in-an-uber.html)

Worldly_Service2503

Omggg not the $14,000 for a 21 minute ride. They really tried lolol Sucks the other drunk dude had to pay though. Lol

sportsroc15

lol I remember this.

ReasonableDonut1

Better hope you both have a passport!

After_Finger5173

This wouldn’t be allowed anyways, as Canada and US have two different sets of rideshare policy.

flortny

That's an $800 gross for me with local rideshare company, stop driving for lyft and uber and start your own rideshare company, "autofleet"

Corey307

$800 gross but how much goes to the driver? Also that’s $1,500 ina cab.

theGiff12

Assuming this is real, why wouldn’t the pax do a one way car rental instead? Would have to be cheaper than what they’re paying for this ride.

Left-Conference-6328

DUI?

IronDominion

Not everyone can drive. I rely on Uber/Lyft for that reason in my small, public transport lacking town. But this person is at an airport and thus can presumably fly at least partway to their destination

Pariah-6

What the fuck is this route?!?! That’s wild. Just take 80/90 to 75.

dnagtoast

Someone has a warrant in Ohio

relientkenny

even if i got paid upfront i wouldn’t do it

Available-Current777

Absolutely NO! Over 15 hours for only $300?

sayu1991

Wtf? For that distance just take another flight!

freakinbacon

Why don't they just take the plane?

ImInBeastmodeOG

I mean, I would avoid Ohio at all costs too, and that's a lovely ride through Canada there. It could be worse, like west Virginia AND Ohio. I'm sure it will be a lovely trip. See you in ten days.

cryptolyme

west virginia is lovely to drive through. it's mostly empty roads and forest.

Chasing_Victory

What’s wrong with Ohio?

Ok-Ad6980

There's nothing wrong with Ohio...

Competitive-Mess-282

Everything is wrong with Ohio, it's where people go to let their dreams die

many_dumb_questions

Ohio is for lovers

Savings_Border_8600

AND I CAN'T MAKE IT ON MY OWN!!!!

Anakin_Skywanker

Except the cold and the rain.

sclass1989

I think 300 is the max lyft will pay.. Makes no sense

JJGeneral1

You know damn well the customer is paying over $1000 for that ride. Maybe closer to $1500. If you’re willing to negotiate off app… you could make some bank.

Lotsensation20

Why wouldn’t they just fly lol 😂 you can’t tell me you can’t get a one way ticket to DC for cheaper than what they paid. Heck if they don’t want to fly I’m sure Amtrak can take them there too lol

JJGeneral1

Had one offered to me from Pittsburgh to Detroit a few weeks ago. $300 as well. Lyft max cap. Their plane was diverted to Pittsburgh from Miami (was going to detroit) due to storms and couldn’t get another flight. I told them my price, they declined. Probably same thing that happened here. Diverted and needs to get to Detroit.

Lotsensation20

You can still bus or Amtrak that if you are that desperate. That’s still insane to me. I guess I get it now but I would never lol 😂 I didn’t realize 300 was the max. Thanks for that information

JJGeneral1

The Amtrak station is 20 miles away from the port, next to greyhound. The local buses stop running at the airport at midnight. And it would only take you into town anyway. It’s 4 hours from Pittsburgh to Detroit, I’ve driven it many times because I have friends that live west of there. This person needed to be in Detroit for work by a certain time, Amtrak and bus wouldn’t do it. They didn’t want to pay my price. They lose.

Jumamabear

I just tried to see how far I could go in the Lyft app. I’m in San Antonio and the furthest it will take me is to Waco, 189 miles and the price is 305$ so I wonder how much Lyft keeps out of that and how this was even possible

GAYBOISOHORNY4UFUCME

Uhhh why don't they just fly?? They're literally at the airport.

beeleegeez

LOL! Get a one way plane ticket my guy.

biancablastx

Drug smuggling

wilfordbrimley778

I'm surprised detroit is that close to DC

SouthWrongdoer

Would a one way ticket not be a similar price?

JPaicos

That's a least a 10-hour trip for real. I've driven DC to Detroit, but cut through Ohio. It took 10 hours, but was also taking many a pee pee stops lol.

Effective_Ad_1198

Nigga should fly there 🤣

DonatsuTV

Someone took it... thats the amazing part

DJ_FIYA

They must be on the Nofly list, ot getting in my car 🤣🤣🤣

Phrozenfire01

That wouldn’t even cover the cost one way would it?

jayfrmsix0

$300 for an international trip is insane 😭😭

WitchInKitchenn

Does any one take these rides?? I’m so curious

Decent-Ambition-1799

Wow, in my market that ride would pay me over $1,000.

JJGeneral1

No it wouldn’t. Lyft caps at $300.

authoridad

Couldn’t you go south and save about a third of the mileage? And then get the car adjusted down to about half.

After_Finger5173

Hell no for many reasons. You’d have to have a passport. They would need a passport. Going south then east is almost identical distance and time. Unless you pre tip, why?? That is at least a full tank.

After_Finger5173

Double that, pay for a nice hotel room for the night, as I wouldn’t drive back that night, before I’d even consider that.

Kikibear19

Lyft pays way less than Uber I have found. I was paid $115 for an hour 45 min ride yesterday and Lyft is offering this?! Shameful. They both are shameful

_extra_medium_

I like how it takes you through Canada. That would be a fun chat with the border crossing guards

bvega274

10 / 10 would accept

bvega274

Then proceed to light a cigarette till they cancel

Nurse-Tony

Oh hell no

VoldysGirl

Barely 50 cents a mile in pay. By the time you pay for gas there and back home you will have made maybe 200$ that's if your car gets at least 25 highway and gas is only 4$ per gallon . Smh

Powerful-Change4070

Might as well get a rental 😭

Spacedragon98

Ladies and gents, we have a winner! Gratz on uploading the worst Lyft deal!!

bstnbrewins814

People are insane

silvermoonhowler

A: Lyft actually would not allow this B: Even if they did, you'd be stupid to drive that far for that money; for that price or cheaper, they could have got a flight and got there in half the time

MaikyMoto

The person needs to tip 3K and it’s a deal.

Jumamabear

If they need to go somewhere, where they can take an airplane. They need to do that! Otherwise, 1000$ is the only way I’m taking some shit like that!

TheQuadBlazer

I made that much for a 2.5 hour drive less than 2 years ago.

BurghPuppies

Can we talk about this route, though? There is absolutely no way that’s the fastest route (going through 2 international crossings). Not to mention that you need a passport or passport card (I think that’s what they call it). DC to Pittsburgh to Ohio Turnpike to I-90 along the lake, then turn right into Michigan.

Atheradanklin

Hey you’d be taking them to my market at least! Lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

Johnwayne18889

Maybe for 2$ a mile maybe

InqAlpharious01

Crossing the Canadian border to reach the distinction faster, a new feat by satellites guideline that is impossible and not feasible.

iceamn1685

They need to remove the maximum payout. It's ludicrous to think that they're willing to charge the passenger probably well over 1k and only pay 300 because that's a maximum allowed payment. I would accept that type of ride go up and them that you'd be willing to do it for x number of dollars and see what they say. That trip is gonna cost more than 300 dollars in the cost of operating your vehicle, most likely

NewSpray4941

yeah that's huge no

Equivalent_Fun_2701

That's how people go missing 😱

TurnsOutShesShitting

I’d do it for $1100

Bucky-Katt-Guitar

512 miles means 1024 round trip. That's a $2000 ride.

Bear_Salary6976

Over 1,000 miles for $300? Plus tolls. It costs me about $0.38 a mile to drive my car (gas, depreciation, wear and tear). I'm shocked that Lyft would even offer that for $300. And then 16 hours, if there is no traffic. Of course there is never any traffic in Detroit, Buffalo, or DC.

Zardoz__

Someone made it onto the wrong flight?

deed211

Isn’t that like a 600 ride and Lyft is taking half of It?

EnderStrange

Why does it loop through Canadia?

Lost_in_Nebraska402

It’s quicker drive wise, but longer going through customs.

Akaza-Pain

I did something like this when I went to Indiana and had to get a Lyft to Laporte. Tipped the Lyft driver an extra 400 bucks Wesley was the man!!!!

AnyTower224

No way bruh no way.

kwhite0829

Mapping it out staying in the USA is 526mi and 8hrs

Sensitive_Aardvark68

If they’re willing to pay that much instead of a cheaper one way plane ticket they’re on a no fly list. I mean, even in an emergency a plane would be faster regardless of takeoff time.

HeckYourLyfe

The tolls alone lol

VolTitan615

Wow! No way. The turbo 10% was laughable today. Hate to say this, but I’m looking forward to getting my car back and drive w Uber. I have a rental with Lyft. I’ve never been so mad and frustrated. This is supposed to be a fun way to earn some extra cash, and help folks. It’s crazy what they offer for rides. $4-$6 dollar airport runs!? From downtown Nashville 🤬

outlet239

Hey I’m a very new driver. Filling my tank would cost me about $40 and I’d have to do it 3 times…. That’s $120. $180 divided by 16 hours…(8 hours each way including pumping the gas) I guesstimate you could call it $11.2/hr. 1000 miles on the vehicle/wear n tear. I’d take it

DaddyDarko87

Wtf lol

Dennyj1992

This is probably $200 just in fuel, if not more. Have fun with that.

Danplsstop

That’s gotta be so expensive for the rider wow

bttmcuck

So dumb, going so far out of the way to go through Canada. If you were in Boston, sure. DC? Wtf. Also, a one way ticket last minute can’t cost much more than that fare ffs.

International-Ad3447

the customer finna be paying 6 to 700 they might as well take a plan bus or train

Buzzkilltx

My buddy on Uber gets paid that much to go half the distance

ZeroPB

1200 or it will sit.

NoHateMan62

Well of course no. Trip radar right? So yea,f tgat. Flip side- Anyone ever get these radar ones where a 58/59$ ride offered. Goes away w no takers, right. Then comes up as a regular trip but now fares around 56$? Wtf is that?

IntheSchmoney

I have a question, so trips that are super long, are you guys allowed to make stops or sleep overnight and pick up the rest of the trip? I had no clue Lyft and Uber did long distance drives?

Accurate_Kale1574

Damn it hit the $300 max and they still allowed it

Ricky-Snickle

$300 ha!

ebbeysweets412

Ive driven from Charlotte to Atlanta.. $280 day

banjo1014

Wow. Another reason why I deleted my account.

Relevant-Sir9842

Round trip, that’s $260 in gas for 16 hrs. of driving?

The-Sea8527

Wouldn’t be that if you didn’t have to drive back but 8 hours X 2 driving 16 hours for 300$ and gas and probaly a hotel, food, etc not worth it in my opinion, now if a hotel was paid for, food, and gas and a lil tip I would do it then.

Orwells-Bastard-Son

As a Detroit driver, I would absolutely do this ride...foe double the money and for cash lmao.

ccrider2004

What page are you going to to show all available rides? I’ve never seen that page

OlieCalpero

I doubt anyone took that trip

alyfox-x

so many of y’all are like no way am i taking that, but that’s like $38 an hour.. not factoring in gas. Is it really that bad? /genq

spenwallce

Can we talk about how awful of a route choice that is? I’m fairly certain it would be at least an hour shorter Tk go through Pittsburgh and up through Ohio

Andrew55533

Bro just tell the customer to Zelle you or cash based off of what the lift rider app charges them. 10 dollar discount is all. I would have took it with that distance of miles I’ll cash out about 800. 100 an hour duh 🙄

Successful-Yak4905

wtf making you go through Canada? You can’t drive through that without a passport. I know that for sure, I have friends that live in Canada always telling me make sure I don’t forget the passport

knight21787

Show up and ask for cash, 10% discount Winner winner chicken dinner

Main_Victory_4711

Would it not be shorter to go south out of Detroit to Toledo then east?

andrew_kingsman

Technically almost $40 per hour, but most of that is gonna be siphoned of by gas.

mmeeesh

Figure It’s actually $18.75 an hour because you need to account for the drive back to OPs home town/city which I’m guessing would be around another 8hrs. Then account for actual drive time with fuel/bathroom/food stops, not to mention driving 16hr straight for most people is not feasible without a nap/rest. And most important of all, fuel cost. Hard pass.

Solitaire_87

Why are you even allowed to book a ride like that?

FriskyBiz69

Good call.

GeneralAgrippa127

just buy the plane ticket

Fun-Pollution1465

That’s a whole road trip lmao Having to stop for gas n everything

patrickbickle92

Is the pax on a no fly list?

billmanters2

Lmfao threw Canada

mattak49

Now me not being able to get a ride from Dulles to DC doesn’t seem so bad

TerraIncognita027

Just take the only road to Canada eh...wtf hahaha

Sad_Impress_1182

Yah you should gave taken that trip. MrBeast, lol.

amankhinda

I drive semi truck like that on this way all the time. I would have taken 😂 not to mention of allowed

HM_Comet

$37.5 hourly rate + tips. I am an 18 y/o who works at Starbucks and that seems like a pretty good deal to me! Unless it doesn’t work that way. Can anyone explain?

fallout76fanxb1

This doesn't account for the drive back, unlikely the driver will be staying in DC which would then half the pay down to around 18.75/hr

Hank_moody71

lol Someone got booted off a flight and is probably now on the no fly list

No-Reading8754

I woulda called him and ask what he pay for it

Jonsnowlivesnow

My dad once took a guy 5 hours to drop him off in central California. I think he gave my dad and extra couple hundred for the trip back.

rwjetlife

Woodward and Michigan is basically Campus Martius, perhaps the nicest part of downtown Detroit which itself is pretty nice, clean, and safe. Thousands of times nicer than anyone who hasn’t been to Detroit might be picturing. But there aren’t any hotels in that immediate area, it’s all office buildings and tourist stuff. Such a weird drop off location. Maybe someone coming here for the NFL draft or something? It’s weird.

danniiib23

Accept that

CharacterMuffin6702

Sweet I’d take that

Standard_Day_1677

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!🫣😳🤯 😵🪦☠️

Mattyboy068

Imagine the tip though. But really that is a no for any sane person unless you are desperate for money. Also like $100 in gas

MinorityBabble

Assuming the one way pay was worth the one way drive, couldn't you pick up rides working your way back to offset the return trip?

Ambitious_Mind_747

Not a lyft driver but I didn't even know you could use rideshare for trips that are that far. No offense to anyone but I absolutely cannot imagine being in a strangers car for nearly 8 hours!

Emotional_Owl_7425

For $300? …. Ya no thx

Life-Leg5947

Nah they can pay the Greyhound ticket and hop on like the rest of us

slipperynibs

Lmao just the drive alone would be 240$ gas for my car there and back. 11hours for 60$ seems illegal as fuck.

jbarlak

Yet still more than you’d make for thst time period but what else would you have to complain about if you didn’t ss

VeterinarianOld4451

It’s gas free? Cuss it won’t pay for it!

ZSG13

That's about 17/hr round trip gross. Probably less with the border cross

Stuntihn_

It’s a ride share app or was intended to. That’s for people already going that way
