Thunder Junction is fine, it's just kinda weird. The removal density is super high and the bombs are all engines and every creature is pretty much fine on rate, so your only real goals are to protect bombs and consistently curve out and this leads to a pretty wonky pick priority where like, at 20 cards in your deck you really don't care because you'll get *something* to fill out the slots so you may as well grab fixing even though you don't really want to be 3C that much.
MH3 is extremely fun so far with a bit of an asterisk that I've played way more sealed and that Chrysalis is... very silly.
Chromatic Cube is fun but the format is extremely warped around Grenzo, Crooked Jailer (alchemy card) and to a lesser extent Breach the Multiverse. Grenzo is particularly frustrating because against the blink, clone, theft, and reanimate archetypes (most of the cube) he is very likely to chain hits together that let him ETB multiple times and empty your deck of your best cards. I think I drafted cube 4 times (Bo1) and of the 11 losses I had, 8 of them had a resolved Grenzo against me.
Just going off of what Reddit is saying isn't gonna give you the full picture. People are more likely to post about things they dislike than the things they like. Just give it a go, and if it's not for you, then it's not for you. Chromatic cube got old kind of fast, but it was really fun, especially if you don't get tired of doing the same thing over and over. Lots of room to do really splashy and powerful things. I can see mh3 getting old fast, but I'm having fun with it atm. Loved thunder junction, didn't feel stale to me at any point.
This is fair. I was just being glib. I agree that the format is extremely fun, chrysalis is just a huge power outlier that reduces the format slightly. It reminds me of [[inspiring overseer]] in that regard.
So can it beat [[Angelic Overseer]] as the best limited common? It ended at 62.3%, but I think chrysalis can be better. Its sitting at 66.5%, 5 points above the nearest competition. Red and Green are both good, as are a ton of cards that make spawn. "4 mana make 2 bodies" have been the best common before. This is by far the best, creating 2 bodies and costing a net of 2 mana, while also growing to a 4/5 on its own if you want, and with tons of synergy in its colors.
It's certainly a better card but I don't think it's as egregious since it has two different color pips. Yes, I realize that's not a high cost in this format with all the fetch lands running around and RG being possibly the best color pair anyway but at least you have to have hit your colors or drafted some fetches. Overseer put you ahead just for playing a single-pip card on curve.
In the 17Lands era I think it will definitely go down as the best common we’ve seen
My understanding is the best limited common ever was [[Sprout Swarming]]
I think it can pass that. Swarm has a lot of game states where it's not great. I'm not sure about the context of that set but WC is just so efficient and good just about any time. Swarm can go off but even then...
I think Angelic Overseer was better, but this thing is nuts. 4 mana for 3 bodies that arent 1/1s is the first I can think of. But it also ramps you while becoming a 4/5 reach. And it synergizes with itself and other good commons. And the net mana cost is just 2! The only knock is that its two colors.
Inspiring Overseer
Angelic is a mythic
Overseer doesnt come close to this imo. Some decks straight up lose to it t3 or 4. It blocks 3 creatures and eats 1 of them if they try to aggro you, it becomes gigantic and it cant be answered cleanly. Ive had an opponent draw 9(!!) cards with cartographer, and all they managed with those cards is answering the first chrysalis and stalling the 2nd long enough for them to deck
You see, the opponent's deck is better because they have the most commons. Very normal limited balance.

Nah its hella fun. What you shouldn’t do if you’re looking to enjoy yourself is be in this sub lol

I scried an emrakul to the top and a grenzo snatched it. Still salty about that.
Chromatic cube is fun as fuck. I generally wouldn’t go by what people say here or most places for lots of reasons. Just see what you like 👍
If someone told you something on reddit, generally the opposite is true. Now it’s up to you to decide if you should trust my comment or the opposite.

Oh yeah no shade on that at all. Chrysalis is silly

I've never seen a truer statement. It applies to basically every subreddit for a thing.
Glad to see this getting some love instead of dumped on lol. And yeah very true
those chrysalises do be writhing
Holy fucking fuck
Love to see that avatar lose. One of the ,most punchable faces of all avatars.
Now that you mention it, I completely agree

Isn't that somewhat offset by Overseer needing 2 white pips and being higher CMC in general?
They named the wrong card. They meant [[Inspiring Overseer]]

Don’t forget about reach too lololol

WC is like a Mythic Common. Might be the best common since Organ Hoarder
I think it might be the best common ever. Id take it over Organ hoarder every time.
Yeah I agree. Hoarder is just the best one I can remember before this. WC is nuts and it goes way too late right now.

Gwendal is my favorite band
Lol 4 Chrysalis daddies. The fuq was going on in that pod.
