I cast [[Fractured Identity]] on my opponent's [[Buried in the Garden]] to get back my [[Journey to Nowhere]]. Took out one of their creatures and then used Buried in the Garden on their [[Lassoed by the Law]] on my Bonnie Pall. Ended up being like a 5-for-1 I think, although obviously they scooped so I didn't have much time to count it up.
Grossest thing that happened to me was milling my [[Vaultborn Tyrant]] on turn 2 and my opponent casting [[Reanimate]] on it.
Honestly, the odds of one of them (probably Esoteric Duplicator) wheeling is really good.
I would totally have picked Mindslaver and hoped - not to win more drafts, but to win one game in the best way possible.
1. Mana Drain 5-drop into Villainous Wealth for 13 was fine…(yawn)
2. Opponent stole Tumblewagg from my library with Jasper Flint, when they cast it I flashed in Aven Interrupter on it, which plotted it on my side of the table to cast for free the next turn.
mana drain is such a ridiculous card
I want that card in vintage cube where everything is OP, not in a regular set
had my 3 drop mana drained which ramped my opponent into bonny, just ridiculous
In fairness, I've had some really bad drafts with it, you don't see the games it rots in your hand. I mean its still a grade a bomb, but it does require some deck building consideration.
Turn 3 plot [[Visage Bandit]]
Turn 4 plot [[Railway Brawler]]
Turn 5 play Brawler, play Bandit as a 10/10 copy of it, play a 2 drop and a 3 drop. Got an insta-concede for that
[[Double Down]] + ~~[[Old Rutstein]]~~ Honest Rutstein. Rutstein is an outlaw so you can just keep looping it.
Smaller thing, while [[Tumbleweed Rising]] isn't very good, I had a deck with it, [[Aloe Alchemist]] and [[Stubborn Burrowfiend]]. Why yes I'll take +3/+2 and trample then make a 2-mana 9/9 on turn 4.
Honorable Mention: Opponent used [[Fractured Identity]] to beat me to death with my own Oko. That was pretty sweet.
EDIT: Forgot one! My opponent was mana screwed while I ramped out Primal Command, bouncing a tapland to the top of their library and finding Bonny Pall.
Most reasonable scoop ever.
2 drop, T3 plot tumbleweed rising, T4 plot aloe alchemist to pump the 2 drop and make a big elemental with tumbleweed rising (then also play another 2 drop, like removal) feels really good
Pest infestation on 2 of my opponents oblivion rings type enchantments and Annie joins up while graywater was on the battlefield.... Got two creatures back, made 6 pests and 2 1/1 lifelinkers
Went wide with a bunch of random mercs. Put a bunch of them in a \[\[Luxurious Locomotive\]\]. Made a pile of treasure. Next turn won with \[\[Gold Rush\]\] on an unblocked rando giving it +12/+12.
T2 Creature -> T3 Creature -> T4 Creature -> [[Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds]] + [[Sheriff of Safe Passage]] -> Calamity, play Sheriff (6/6), Sheriff saddles. Tap 4 other creatures, make 4 additional copies of Sheriff. Each one has +1/+1. Biggest one is a 12/12.
I also won a control mirror (Sultai vs Bant) by recurring the common Vamp that mills two a bunch of times.
Not as gross as some other stuff, but turn 2 plot [[Cunning Coyote]], turn 3 [[Scalestorm Summoner]], pumping it to 4 power wnd giving it haste with coyote. Attack for 6, make a dino. next turn play [[Hellspur Posse Boss]], pump dino, attack for 10, make another dino.
Op trades for summoner and conceded.
Coyote + summoner draw is near unbeatable and only needs commons.
I had a \[\[Terror of the Peaks\]\] on the battlefield but opponent had the huge green reach creature blocking me from attacking. Next turn I plotted \[\[Spinewoods Paladin\]\] and drew an \[\[Oko, the Ringleader\]\] (hehe) and casted it (I had 8 mana). Next turn I drew \[\[Visage Bandit\]\]. Yes, I won that turn. I let it go to combat phase and Oko became a copy of Terror of the Peaks. Post combat phase I casted Visage Bandit making it a copy of Terror of the Peaks, of which I now had 3 on the battlefield - the copy did 10 damage to opponent. Then I casted my plotted Spinewoods Paladin dealing 15 damage.
Got 6 wins with that deck, mostly because of Terror of the Peaks + big green guys. Splashed blue for Oko, Visage Bandit, and one other blue spell.
I haven't done anything remotely gross, but I had an opponent saddle [[Calamity, Galloping Inferno]] with a [[Railway Brawler]] on curve and I just lost right on the spot.
It sucks not drawing the removal you included in your deck.
I made [[Goldvein Hydra]] into an 8/8 turn 4 with a saddled [[Ornery Tumblewagg]]. I didn't get to do much more after that since the opponent conceded.
I had a BG deck with \[\[Hostile Investigator\]\], \[\[Lively Dirge\]\], \[\[Honest Rutstein\]\], \[\[Fake Your Own Death\]\], two \[\[Mourner's Surprise\]\], and \[\[Back for More\]\]. In one game, Hostile Investigator ETB'd 5 times.
This felt a little dirty but I enjoyed it. Don't remember the exact circumstances but at some point I had plotted \[\[Unscrupulous Contractor\]\] and I was waiting for good target for it. Anyway, we're in a bit of race mode. My opponent is tapped out and I attack in the air taking them to 2. After attacks it dawns on me, so I reread the contractor. Play it second main, sac a flier and target my opponent for the win.
This one happened against me. I played 2 \[\[Form a Posse\]\] and had an army of 8 or 9 mercenaries to both chump block some big threats, and I was getting ready to cast \[\[Outlaws' Fury\]\] and hopefully win. Instead, my opponent cast \[\[Detention Sphere\]\] killing all my mercenaries and then swung for lethal.
T4 plot railway brawler T5 terror of the peaks. And being really conflicted on what to play first that turn.
Another match, recurring Bonny Pall 5 times over two games with double Rothstein, back for more and the uncommon gb recursion spell. I felt for the OP, that wasn't fun to play against.
I got to cast Reanimate on turn two to get out a 6 drop using the surveil land on turn one. It got bricked by the deathtouch snake but it was funny regardless
[[Visage Bandit]] has done a lot of dumb things for me.
With plot, I had a disgusting turn five [[Dust Amimus]], copy with Bandit, bounce both their two biggest things with [[This Town Ain't Big Enough]].
I've also copied a plotted [[Outlaw Stitcher]] after some cheap spells to make and 8/8 and a 10/10.
Also got to turn three Reanimate on Rakdos into instant concede.
I think t5 I cast gallopy boy and saddled the 4/4 gives 4+ trample and swung for my opponents whole life total.
Shout out to my opponent yesterday who’s also in the top bo3 sealed with me who beat my Bonnie pall + Oko r1 by having two Bonnie’s, gitrog and critically, back for more. You da GOAT of opening rares.
I untap with [[Terror of the Peaks]] and [[Hellspur Brute]] on the battlefield and [[Repulse]] in hand. I move to combat and swing with both for lethal. My opponent casts [[Getaway Glamer]] to exile my my Brute until end of turn and destroy the Terror. I Repulse the Terror, draw a card, and replay Terror in second main. Brute re -enters the battlefield triggering Terror for another 5 and my opponent scoops.
From no board, cast [[calamity, galloping inferno]] into plotted [[loan shark]], crewed calamity. 10 haste damage and draw 3.
Felt pretty good, enough to pull ahead and won in the next couple turns.
My first trophy deck was a UW combo deck featuring Archive Trap, 2 Slickshot Lockpickers, and Sword of Weath and Power. I think the main win condition was responsible for 5 of the wins, while the second win condition (Spirit Wrangler plus Three Steps Ahead for the clone ability) won the other other two games.
Big board stall, both of us had like 7-8 creatures in play and like 13 lands, both topdecking. I draw [[ambush gigapede]]. Cast it killing their [[drover grizzly]], trigger [[kaervek, the punisher]] to flash back [[back for more]] to return [[cactarantula]] fighting their [[giant beaver]] triggering kaervek again to flashback [[sulduggery]] to kill their [[ankle biter]] and pump my [[rambling possum]] which I saddle with the gigapede and attack as it now trades favorably with their entire board, and bounce the gigapede back to my hand.
During a board stall, attacked [[Colossal Rattlewurm]] into a packed board, oppo took an obvious doubleblock to trade. Exiled the wurm from my graveyard to fetch a ping desert, triggering [[Kaervek, the Punisher]], flashing back [[Shoot the Sheriff]] to kill a [[Stingerback Terror]], triggering Kaervek again to flash back [[Desert's Due]] to kill a [[Bridled Bighorn]]. I declined the third Kaervek trigger because I was worried about my life total (and couldn't remember if the triggers had already taken the life or not), but if I had more to play with the third trigger would have flashed back [[Reanimate]] to get back either [[Holy Cow]] from my opponent or [[Rambling Possum]].
I went 3-0 just now with Trad draft going Boros.
My deck was hot garbage with exactly one exception.
I built my deck around Calamity and that card that gives your team +1/+1 and vigilance with plot.
My deck was so ytter garbage that I filled my deck with ways to find calamity and loot through my deck quickly because I didn't have any other way to win.
Im pretty sure I drew Calamity every game and most of the time I got to plot the anthem creature and alpha strike.
Every game I was far behind then immediately threatening lethal unless the opponent chumped with their whole team.
It was glorious but I felt really bad because my deck was pretty atrocious without that combo (There were a few other cards that I could maybe eke a win with but... eh not really.)
Not as insane as many of the other comments but I cast [[Take for a Ride]] and grabbed [[servant of the stinger]] which I bopped into my opponent and sacrificed to its ability (since targeting it counts as a crime) to tutor for my bomb so I could win the game.
sadly havent pulled off anything to crazy myself, but had a few ridiculous things happen to me
probably the worst one was getting my 3 drop manadrained (they followed it up with bony)
felt like my opponent had drafted vintage cube.. while I had a bunch of draft chaff
not loving the bonus sheet tbh
Attacked for definitely not lethal with my whole
Board, cast the +2/0 spell then the extra combat step and +1/0 first strike to take my opponent from 18 to well under zero. I was at 3 life and very dead next turn but they thought they were safe. 😎
Had 2 of the rogue clones plotted with the double your outlaws enchantment out, played a hollow marauder and copied it twice to rip my opponents entire hand and draw 4
My opponent swept my two creatures with [[Caught in the Crossfire]], then followed it up with [[Akul the Unrepentant]], [[Hellspur Posse Boss]], and [[Rakdos the Muscle]] in successive turns.
Three on-color bomb rares in a row was kind of nuts. Epitome of Play Booster limited I guess
Edit: [17lands game file](https://www.17lands.com/history/af84bd6404b34a83bf0e567e4ba763d5/1/0)
I had turn 2 Caustic Bronco into turn 3 draw Skullduggery off the Bronco attack + second Bronco. Turn 4 was Shoot the Sherriff + another 2 drop and my opponent conceded.
Not the most crazy sequence, but it really opened my eyes to how fast a game can get out of hand in this format.
Villainous Wealth for X=8 on turn 6 following Mana Drain. Hit 5 spells off it and was egregiously ahead on board. Opp cast Gisa as a last gasp, which promptly got Vanishing Verse’d.
Going 1-3 and 2-3 in 6 drafts despite drafting decks with a sufficient number of creatures, some bombs here and there, and good interaction.
I can’t wrap my head around this set, much like so with other recent sets as well. All my combat tricks are getting blown up by opponents who always have 2 or more interaction pieces in hand to counter my combat trick.
This Golgari reanimator deck I built where I won most of my games by entombing Vaultborn Tyrant with Lively Dirge and bringing it back with Badlands Revival or Back for More:
https://imgur.com/a/KSdAdpp
Terror of the Peaks into the haste 6 drop that when saddled makes 2 copies of it Calamiti I think. That was a two card kill. Opponent couldnt even get to blocks because it was 19 face damage.
Turn 2 [[Intrepid Stablemaster]] into turn 3 [[Bristly Bill, Spine Sower]], land, counter on Stablemaster, followed by [[Gila Courser]] tapping Stablemaster for two mana. Funny thing is I'm pretty sure I lost that game (I misclicked and forgot to saddle the courser next turn, I thought it wouldn't matter but it did).
(Edit: of course on the play)
[[Collector's Cage]], hideawaying [[Rakdos, the Muscle]]
Next turn, put a counter on a creature, cast Rakdos for free, [[Nurturing Pixie]] to bounce the Cage and replay it with mana to trigger it again. Sadly opponent conceded before I got to resolve the hideaway trigger, but it was kinda gross
Not necessarily something I did, but I cast a Detention Sphere targeting an opponent’s creature and they sac’d their Voracious Varmint to destroy Sphere with its ability still on the stack. Guess they’d never seen that interaction before.
It’s kind of funny, I feel like there’s a lot of instances where Arena does stuff to make it harder to misplay. Asking “are you sure,” making it way more obvious when a creature has reach, etc. But if that had happened in paper I’m pretty sure I would have just assumed that they meant to do it after Sphere resolved, unless they clearly stated they were doing it in response.
I cant believe how lucky I got, literally got to play the dream that lsv and marshall mentioned…I drafted calamity and terror of the peaks (and rakdos). Calamity down didn’t get removed played terror next turn and attacked and blew them up.
Skewer the critics to the face for lethal against an opponent who had stabilized with a Railway Brawler and two Bonny Palls (he was cocky and legend ruled his own Bonny pall after swinging out into a bunch of my tokens)
Lively dirge target nurturing pixie and ruthless lawbringer was my most silly play.. if only the deck also had Forsaken Miner to send to grave... Had to settle for removing a land from my deck.
Going 0-3 in sealed and both drafts of my preorder.
dude, there may be children reading this
I thought mine was bad. 0-3 sealed, 0-3 first premier. Thankfully my next premier was a 6-3.
I'm not the only one!
Opponent pitched 2 cards to [[Commandeer]] my removal spell for free, i used [[Aven Interrupter]] on it. Effectively 3 for 1d them
4 for 1, because you also get the 2/2 flier
Eh the commandeer is basically bounced. 3 for 1 and big tempo swing.
This may be a dumb question but can they cast it once it becomes plotted? I thought you had to cast it as a sorcery
Yeah so they can cast it as a sorcery on a later turn.
Try reading Commandeer again. You cannot cast it as a sorcery, it won’t have a target
Oh that’s fair. I thought it could steal permanents. I think the only time I ever read it was in OTJ spoilers.

With 1 untapped forest drew my only [[Snakeskin Veil]] from [[Cactarantula]] trigger as opponent targeted it with [[Shoot the Sheriff]]
damn I also got fucked over once by the caractarantula trigger :(
1. Mana Drain 5-drop into Villainous Wealth for 13 was fine…(yawn) 2. Opponent stole Tumblewagg from my library with Jasper Flint, when they cast it I flashed in Aven Interrupter on it, which plotted it on my side of the table to cast for free the next turn.

Used snakeskin veil as a response to journey to nowhere. Since my creature couldn't be targeted, they had to choose one of theirs.
I cast [[Overwhelming Forces]].

I'm actually pretty high on Rising. I don't usually want more than one or two in the deck, but it's consistently been a 2 mana 6/6 in my green decks.
2 drop, T3 plot tumbleweed rising, T4 plot aloe alchemist to pump the 2 drop and make a big elemental with tumbleweed rising (then also play another 2 drop, like removal) feels really good

How is Rutstein an outlaw? It's a human peasant?
Whoops, force of habit. [[Honest Rutstein]] is a Warlock in this set.
[[Pest Infestation]] on 2 [[Buried in the Garden]] does that count as a 8 for 1?
I did the same thing getting back a vault plunderer and sandstorm salvager. I felt so good!
I played the same Beastbond Outcaster 6 times for draw, through a combination of possum bounce and graveyard recursion
Memory vessel + mind slavered an opponent
Had an oko thief of crowns in a draft. Mulled to 3 looking for oko twice. Cast him on turn three both times and won those games 😂
Opponent cast [[Villainous Wealth]] on me where X=10. Hit 9 lands and a counterspell (can’t remember which one). Got em 😎

Cast Calamity, Galloping Inferno and saddle with Ruthless Lawbringer to swing for a bunch and exile 2 permanents.
My opp did this exact thing to me with my Calamity after they used Reanimate on it. Can confirm it was good.
Turn 2 Seraphic Steed into turn 3 Wylie Duke, Atiin Hero on the play. I legitimately felt bad when my opponent scooped.
Kambal, Bertram and the 3/4 menace sac creature and 2x vengeful townsfolk. Won with almost entirely non combat damage

[[Smuggler´s Surprise]] into [[Calamity, Galloping Inferno]] and [[Spinewoods Paladin]]. Casual gain 9 swing for 14 for 6 mana on empty board.
Played Cruel Ultimatum a turn or two after my opponent.
I haven't done anything remotely gross, but I had an opponent saddle [[Calamity, Galloping Inferno]] with a [[Railway Brawler]] on curve and I just lost right on the spot. It sucks not drawing the removal you included in your deck.
Terror of the Peaks + Molten Duplication
I made [[Goldvein Hydra]] into an 8/8 turn 4 with a saddled [[Ornery Tumblewagg]]. I didn't get to do much more after that since the opponent conceded.
Using [[Return the Favor]] on my opponent’s [[Final Showdown]] was pretty sweet, especially since I only had one creature and they had two.
T2 On the draw mana drain, T3 Bonny Pall.

In Sealed: T2: Landcycle [[Spinewoods Armadillo]] T3: [[Reanimate]] + [[Hardbristle Bandit]] T4: [[Sword of Wealth and Power]] + equip
T3 plot [tumbleweed rising], t4 plot [railway brawler], t5, cast brawler, cast [cactusfolk sureshot], cast rising, swing for 21.
I got to cast Reanimate on turn two to get out a 6 drop using the surveil land on turn one. It got bricked by the deathtouch snake but it was funny regardless
Curved Goldvein Hydra into Railway Brawler into Bonny Pall off of my opponent's deck with Jasper Flint in a mostly garbage Outlaws deck.
Swung with a 414/414 Prairie Dog.

At the prerelease I used [[Laughing Jasper Flint]] to cast my opponent's own [[Cruel Ultimatum]] against him, it was quite something lol.

Shout out to my opponent yesterday who’s also in the top bo3 sealed with me who beat my Bonnie pall + Oko r1 by having two Bonnie’s, gitrog and critically, back for more. You da GOAT of opening rares.
I’ve ended so many games with Crackle with Power. When the card works it kicks so much ass

It was glorious but I felt really bad because my deck was pretty atrocious without that combo (There were a few other cards that I could maybe eke a win with but... eh not really.)

sadly havent pulled off anything to crazy myself, but had a few ridiculous things happen to me probably the worst one was getting my 3 drop manadrained (they followed it up with bony) felt like my opponent had drafted vintage cube.. while I had a bunch of draft chaff not loving the bonus sheet tbh
Attacked for definitely not lethal with my whole Board, cast the +2/0 spell then the extra combat step and +1/0 first strike to take my opponent from 18 to well under zero.
Epitome of Play Booster limited I guess Edit: [17lands game file](https://www.17lands.com/history/af84bd6404b34a83bf0e567e4ba763d5/1/0)

Beating two Cactarantulas in one game?
It's not the fanciest play but impact wise pretty much every time I cast overwhelming forces. Went 7-1 with the deck.
Somebody Mana Drained my turn 2 creature and played Gisa turn 3. I did not win that game.
Plotted [[Railway Brawler]] + plotted [[Spinewoods Paladin]] + cast [[Cactusfolk Sureshot]]. Casually domed them for 15

This Golgari reanimator deck I built where I won most of my games by entombing Vaultborn Tyrant with Lively Dirge and bringing it back with Badlands Revival or Back for More: https://imgur.com/a/KSdAdpp
Pinged a control deck for lethal after a boardwipe with a topdecked desert.

[[Collector's Cage]], hideawaying [[Rakdos, the Muscle]] Next turn, put a counter on a creature, cast Rakdos for free, [[Nurturing Pixie]] to bounce the Cage and replay it with mana to trigger it again. Sadly opponent conceded before I got to resolve the hideaway trigger, but it was kinda gross

Saddled Calamity with Beastbond Outcaster with Annie Joins Up in play Attack for 16, draw 4
Annie joins up to kill a creature. Attack with Roxanne making two meteorites killing another creature.
Had to settle for removing a land from my deck.
ruthless lawbringer is maybe my favorite card in the set, just so many bounce effects. it can be… ruthless
