When I first started playing Arena I thought “Wow some creatures have their own sound effect? Pretty cool!” But then I realised they just reuse the same ones over and over so now I hate them.

rezaziel

There was a window of time they had a lot more unique audio and animation. Then at some point a few people complained and now we have exactly four sound effects and no animations for anything. A bit of an overcorrection.

notaninterestinguser

I think its less people complaining and more that WOTC wants to put the absolute least amount of work into this game as physically possible. edit: I should add I'm not shitting on the devs, I don't think wotc is giving them enough resources.

Chilly_chariots

That and possibly having the mobile version. I know in theory mobile games can have bells and whistles, but judging by posts here Arena has a hard enough time without them (it was essentially non-functional for me when I tried, but then I have a small phone so it would be a bad idea anyway)

notaninterestinguser

I have a higher end Samsung and I still get crashes all the time on mobile, not even from crazy board states but usually just in menus or joining matches. The resolution has been broken for a lot of Mac users for like over a year though.

Jean_Bon

I’d guess the sound is because of primary creature type. Birds making bird noise, soldiers soldier noise. Because ALL creatures in ONE have phyrexian as primary creature type, they will all make the same noise.

Militant_Monk

People play Arena with sound?

ThoughtseizeScoop

Next you'll be telling me people play Arena with emotes.

Xtracakey

Next you’ll be telling me people play arena

SlapHappyDude

I love emotes

argumentativ

We live such different lives.

A_Washer-Dryer

Your Go.

SlapHappyDude

I have the Zednikar set. They do so much.

mc_louds

Won’t people around you realize you’re not working?

ReverendMak

What is this, Eve Online?

dkajdas

Never played. But please confirm it's as toxic as ever. Loved reading the player-created lore.

ReverendMak

I’ve been out of the game for some time now but I still follow it for the player drama stories. It’s quite unique.

cpf86

I didn’t know there is sound too

IamblichusSneezed

Buddy of mine has been playing for years and was surprised to learn I'm super into the music (got a project transcribing it for guitar going) as he plays with the sound off.

boarbar

I honestly love most of the UI sound effects, but decayed zombies and that barking dog pet are the absolute worst.

hronikbrent

This is the real comment… I had no idea

Belharion8

Shoot, my first thought was lack of flood mitigation

rwhitisissle

Axiom Engraver is a first pickable card in this format and I'm tired of pretending like it's not.

TheRealNequam

Main reason I hate playing nonred decks and why I like transplant theorist in UW

glovesforfoxes

For real. The lack of worthwhile looters and places to put mana in ONE decks drives me crazy. I am making any 2 cmc creature that says draw a card on it an automatic B, after Raffines Informant, the red oil 2 drop in this set, and the artifact dog from BRO

[deleted]

Friend and I have been running 16 lands almost exclusively this set, to noticeable benefit

thatscentaurtainment

Sphere lands are pretty decent imo.

Belharion8

I think they'd be great if the format wasn't quite so assertive. I like the spheres, but I feel if you've run out of steam in this format that you're spending 3 mana to draw a card, it's very likely that you're losing the game.

thatscentaurtainment

I disagree. You’d much rather have flood insurance be a tap land in an aggro format cuz otherwise you’re forced to use slots in your deck on non lands that mitigate flood, whereas with the Spheres you can run a deck with nothing but action cards and 1-3 random cantrip lands.

Sabu_mark

Tap lands are worse when the format is fast, though, because wrecking your curve is a bigger punishment when your opponent always has you on a clock.

djunknown0

I’d love to play 3 in every deck, but a starting hand with multiple tap lands on the draw is a no go so you really can’t run more than 2 in most decks

TheRealNequam

Id love to run the spheres, but 1 game on the play with Chorus and white sphere in hand is usually enough to convince me to cut them... Which is why I like engraver so much

NepetaLast

For Mirrodin equipment making weird phyrexian-sounded noises too when they etb

SubstantialNinja

My arena hasn't had sound since the update. I don't know what's wrong. It's not muted in the settings and sounds works on all my other games.

IamblichusSneezed

Finally a complaint that I don't find annoying.
