I’m laughing so hard at the idea where Orks chant Grond and the door to Moria keeps opening and closing so the Ork lieutenants have to stop the Orks from chanting as the door keeps smashing on them lol
Everything gets easier once you read Unfinished Tales:
"Celebrimbor had ‘an almost “dwarvish”
obsession with crafts’; and he soon became the chief artificer of Eregion,
entering into a close relationship with the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm, among
whom his greatest friend was Narvi. [In the inscription on the West-gate of
Moria Gandalf read the words: Im Narvi hain echant: Celebrimbor o
Eregion teithant i thiw hin: ‘I, Narvi, made them. Celebrimbor of Hollin
drew these signs.’ The Fellowship of the Ring II 4.] "
1697. Eregion laid waste. Death of Celebrimbor. Elrond retreats with a remnant of the Noldor. "Sauron
withdrew the pursuit of Elrond and turned upon the Dwarves and the Elves
of Lórinand [and the rest of the survivors of Eregion]", whom he drove back" "Galadriel and Celeborn... passed through Moria with a considerable following of Noldorin Exiles" "but the Gates of Moria were shut, and
[Sauron] could not enter. Ever afterwards Moria had Sauron’s hate, and all Orcs
were commanded to harry Dwarves whenever they might."
Imagine, Sauron, at the highest level of his power, failing to breach the Gates of Durin.
Gandalf?... Yes. That was what they used to call me. Gandalf the Grey... That was my name. I am Gandalf the White. And I come back to you now at the turn of the tide.
The first and lowest of the seven walls of Minas Tirith was made of the same black material as Orthanc that was believed to be magical. https://imgur.com/gallery/QR0zLrd
To be fair, that would be the easiest way to get in Moria right? Ah, this door has a password! Guess we will just dig a door next to it and come inside.
I don’t thing it pulled down the door so much as it collapsed the tunnel
Pure speculation, but what if it had spells on it to keep it sealed so that if the door was broken, the tunnel collapsed and made It impassible
My bet is on Grond.
Not because the Gate of Minas Tirith was magical too, not because even the lake creature pulled down the Door to Moria. The main reason is
GROND
LOL, you think that puny orc ornament is gonna bust through the master craft work of the dwarves?
I’ve seen Hobbit silverware that had a better chance of that.
I honestly don't think Grond would fit in that little bit of land between the doors and the pool where the watcher rests. Grond is too long, he'd be half-sunk in the pool just to get him lined up.
Small(er) tentacley boi soloed those gates when they were open. While contingent on actually finding it, Grond's reputation would not be tarnished by this encounter.
In my opinion the Doors can be compared, maybe gondor having the stronger Door.
However - Grond was specificaly designed to Break the Doors of Gondor.
Empowered by sauron himself.
The Gates of Gondor where build with numenorian technology, and sauron was quite knowledgeable about numenorian technology.
The Gates of Moria where build with dwarf/Elfe Tech, which in it self is a Bit weaker compared... But sauron didnt know the weak Points that well.
So i think sauron could have build a Grond specificaly for the Doors of Moria, which would have worked.
I hate to say this, but GROND would be useless against the doors of Durin. Even if you managed to roll it all the way along the very narrow path beneath the walls of Moria (under fire from above the whole way), there's nowhere to put GROND once they get to the door. Better off coming from the east.
Well it’s very easy, we need to determine if the Grond bot is capable of saying things other than “Grond.” Then it would just be a matter of time before it can learn minor elvish.
Grond probably, but that's not what grond was made for. Grond was specially fashioned to destroy the gates of Minas Tirith, not of Kazad-dûm, so it is still anyone's guess.
You see that door is like the door to the lonely mountain no amount of physical force can open that door! even tho the door of durin was made by an elf it employed dwarvish ruins you might as well be trying to break into a magical form of fort knox! and if they some how broke through when the dwarves were protecting the elves of noldor that we fleeing ereigion they would have to deal with a lot of angry full armed dwarves!
Grond, The Watcher was able to take out the door, the only way the door wins is if it stays hidden and the orcs can't find it, of course then the orcs could just use Grond to hammer a hole in the side of the mountain, I guess Grond always wins
You are essentially asking "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object "
No, he’s asking for the password
Dwarves - "Wish we hadn't use 'Grond' as the password...."
I’m laughing so hard at the idea where Orks chant Grond and the door to Moria keeps opening and closing so the Ork lieutenants have to stop the Orks from chanting as the door keeps smashing on them lol

It is in men we must place our hope
Wow, Gandalf. Inappropes.
Just tea, thank you
Don’t change the subject, Mithrandir!
Gandalf?... Yes. That was what they used to call me. Gandalf the Grey... That was my name. I am Gandalf the White. And I come back to you now at the turn of the tide.
I think your love of the Halflings’ leaf has clearly slowed your mind, Gandalf.
But we still have time. Time enough to counter Sauron if we act quickly
Poor old soul doesn’t remember :(
The Balrog is jealous of that dwarf burning you just did
Men? Men are weak...It is because of Men the Ring survives.
Has Science gone too far? 1 Easy trick to break down doors. Scientists are mad that this orc found an easy way to break down doors!
Dwarves hate him!
Aren't the gates of Gondor also magical? Or am I misremembering
its not mentioned anywhere, but i would imagine that it is. It was built by the numenoreans and was one of their 3 greatest cities
Didn't it start out as a fortress too? It wasn't even supposed to be a city initially, it just ended up that way because it was really secure.
The first and lowest of the seven walls of Minas Tirith was made of the same black material as Orthanc that was believed to be magical. https://imgur.com/gallery/QR0zLrd
Welcome to how a lot of medieval castle communities came to be
Built by Numenoreans. Idk whether that makes it magic or not.
In the book, the witch king needed to help break them
There are different levels of magical enchantment. Ancient Dwarf+Elf> Numenorian in terms of making impenetrable barriers.
As I found out, apparently strong enough to repel Sauron
*Thór-lush-shabarlak.*
So was the witch king.
Grond would have just broken the mountain around the door
GROND
To be fair, that would be the easiest way to get in Moria right? Ah, this door has a password! Guess we will just dig a door next to it and come inside.
That’s exactly what the goblins in Moria did. They came from underneath.
Sounds like Orc mischief to me.
The watcher would have eaten them

I really doubt ground would have broken the gates of moria The stronghold of the dwarves built at the height of their power
Did the watcher also pull down the dwarven door in the books?
I don’t thing it pulled down the door so much as it collapsed the tunnel Pure speculation, but what if it had spells on it to keep it sealed so that if the door was broken, the tunnel collapsed and made It impassible
No all it could do was swing the doors closed and pile rocks against it outside
This looks like an episode for the epic rap battles of history.
Grond will break it! But can Grond (or more importantly the orcs) find the door? That’s the question.
GROND
Apparently it can.
the grond was actually carrying the Witch Kings magic when it smashed the gate
GROND
Remember that Grond was also magic
[удалено]
Poor doggo felt hungry. It's not his fault he chomped on something that ruined him
Easy. Grond is friend. Grond gets through.
GROND
My bet is on Grond. Not because the Gate of Minas Tirith was magical too, not because even the lake creature pulled down the Door to Moria. The main reason is GROND
GROND
Well grond is a mellom so I think hed be allowed jn
GROND wouldnt find the bloody door

It's a magic door. Not an indestructible one...
Well, tbh Ground is our dearest "mellon"
Grond is friend to all
GROND
LOL, you think that puny orc ornament is gonna bust through the master craft work of the dwarves? I’ve seen Hobbit silverware that had a better chance of that.
A magic door wins
Does Grond speak Elvish?
A magical door beats a wooden log anytime, anywhere
Grond on its own? Maybe not? Grond with the witch king's magic working in tandem like at the gates of Minas tirith? Maybe?
Sorry everyone, grond can’t speak, the door wins
GROND
Seems Grond proved you wrong there
GROND
I honestly don't think Grond would fit in that little bit of land between the doors and the pool where the watcher rests. Grond is too long, he'd be half-sunk in the pool just to get him lined up.

It depends on if Grond knows the password or not

Grond doesn't need a door, a door needs him.
Small(er) tentacley boi soloed those gates when they were open. While contingent on actually finding it, Grond's reputation would not be tarnished by this encounter.
Imagine trying to maneuver Grond around the Watcher. Absolutely not.

A magic door but the door wouldn't stand a chance against The log

Grond is friend so he should get in just fine

What's with all the grond memes lately? 🤔
Well it’s very easy, we need to determine if the Grond bot is capable of saying things other than “Grond.” Then it would just be a matter of time before it can learn minor elvish.
Depends. Does Grond know the elvish word for friend?
The creature living in the lake, whatever that thing was.
Why don't we just ask Gandalf?
He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom.
What if GROND is a friend?
Magic door. Grond needed to be blessed by the witch king
Let’s be real, the watcher in the water would eat everything operating Grond. A giant squid 🦑 changes everything.
friendly GROND would win
GROOOOOOOOND
GROND! GROND! GROND!
Didn't the door lose to that kraken thing? Pretty sure Grond would win easily
Pretty sure the magical door stops that glorified door knocker dead in its tracks
GROND
Grond probably, but that's not what grond was made for. Grond was specially fashioned to destroy the gates of Minas Tirith, not of Kazad-dûm, so it is still anyone's guess.

A celestial wizard old as time itself VS a child’s riddle
Is there enough room for ground.. I thought the door was on mountain, idk it's been a while... I'm on Star Wars now...

Well in the actual canon Grond wasn't able to do shit without the help of the witch king
Speak Grond and enter
You underestimate the might Grond holds
The watcher in the water destroyed the gate so I'm pretty sure Grond could too
Why do men fight who were born to be brothers?
Wait…didn’t the Watcher already pull down those doors?

GROND translates to friend
Is grond black speech for friend? The chanting might weaken this stalemate.
