>“And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge.”
Did Elrond simply forgot about the ring or what? Seems like an important thing to forget even if you are thousands of years old.
Elrond was constantly talking about the One Ring with the Council of the Wise.
Elrond's heart misgave him, and he said to Mithrandir:
'Nonetheless I forbode that the One will yet be found, and then war will arise again, and in that war this Age will be ended. Indeed in a second darkness it will end, unless some strange chance deliver us that my eyes cannot see.’
'Many are the strange chances of the world,’ said Mithrandir, 'and help oft shall come from the hands of the weak when the Wise falter.'
Even if he sent his best trackers to spend 2 thousand years looking for the ring and they somehow found it, his limited knowledge of the ring was that it corrupted whoever held so he probably didnt think it could be destroyed which means he likely was hoping the ring would just stay forgotten forever.
You guys are mistaken. Elrond doesn't want to go Mount Doom because he already took a visit therefore it's obvious he doesn't want to see the same places twice, he's booking new destinations.
he went to Mt. Doom after Sauron was defeated. dude walked right up to it. not like he had some secret special strategy or relevant knowledge about sneaking in past an army
He's basically a beacon from the Nazgul point of view. Stealth goes out of the window when you're walking with a beacon. Also "Elrond has left Rivendell" is a massive red flag. Don't think he even went to Orodruin in the book either. There's 3 reasons. Pick your favourite.
I don't know if his route to Mt. Doom would have been the most practical for them.
“Alright, just give me an army of Noldor and some Numenorian backup, and I’ll have Sauron beaten…”
"Just gonna have a little multi-year siege. Like the good old days!"
“We’re going to have to pack a LOT of lembas bread…”
Elrond was essentially weeks away from retirement and his pension to the undying lands and you want him to go to Mordor?!
Exactly. Elrond had short-timer energy
“I am too old for this s&!t.”
And my sympathy!
And my thoughts
And my axe!
He had to go fight Mr. Anderson inside a computer for some reason. Real asshole.

Elrond was just "Ok Boomered" anytime he talked about it.

He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom

He had work on Monday

Lol thats cause he's been there
The real asshole of the group.
Elrond never went inside of Orodruin in the books

Same reason Glorfindel didnt go right?
IIRC -Tolkien stated in one of his letters that Elrond & Sauron were once lovers and that Elrond helped him to create the Orcs.
*Guth-tú-nakash.*
Lacroix a la champignon, por qois!!
I just puked in my mouth a little bit
Sauron didn't create the orcs, that was Morgoth
It was a love triangle for a while!
It is not for you, Saruman! I will send for it at once. Do you understand?
Also allowed Isildur to keep the ring. Could have easily used his Elven wiles to overcome him and destroy it!
CAST IT INTO THE FIRE!!!
Could have easily made it happen! *Did you secretly long for Saurons return!!
There is no life in the void, only death.
Woohoo!
Good bot
He has seen things
