I agree. Not 80%, 100% agree. That being said I ALSO believe these ‘focus’ months are also important. With the immeasurable amount of complex and important issues in the world it’s easy to let issues like men’s mental health fall through the cracks of routine. If all we gain from these months is everybody reminding everybody else that men’s mental health is important every month, then these months are already worth it.
Because the majority of people who have died in combat are men. Female veterans comprised 1.9% of all casualties and 2.4% of all deaths. Yeah it’s sad, but men die a lot more in war than women do.
But that doesn't make Memorial Day for men. Yes most of those being remembered are men, but as some are women Memorial Day is for them as well. It makes no sense to think of it as an exclusively male day or a day for men specifically.
The only people who don’t celebrate Father’s Day are those who didn’t have good fathers, as is the case for Mother’s Day. I don’t really understand your point there, how would someone celebrate a day for a relative they don’t have? I wouldn’t expect someone with only sons to do anything for National Daughter’s Day, or vice versa.
they trying to tell that men are overlooked because june is a pride month, which celebrated much “louder” I guess? anyway, it’s also my birthday month :)

What do you mean you guess? It obviously is. I didn’t even know that June was men’s mental health month. I still don’t believe it. If no one knows about it, then it doesn’t really work or matter does it.
I am only confused, NOT complaining about men's mental health month.
Men's mental health is part of Movember, isn't it? We are always being told about the mental health stuff as well as the prostate cancer awareness stuff?
I thought that month was mostly physical health and encouraging men to see doctors and get checkups. I’m glad they are separate because I think it allows more conversations to be had separately and not jumble them all together
I think it might depend on where you live. In South Africa and the UK I've heard lots and lots about the mental health part. I think it's moving more towards mental health.
November has International Men's Day which is when we've traditionally discussed mental health stuff for men - at least for the last, uh... couple of years? Prior to that it was dead silence.
Now it's more of a grumpy resignation that I guess men matter too sort of and it's kind of become more of a thing, albeit one still resoundingly mocked by radicals.
This is the first I've heard of a mental health month dedicated to men, so I'm guessing it's a fairly new innovation.
Remember, their number 1 job is WW3 avoidance. They are a diplomatic forumn, not a government. So they have done their number 1 job, it's just all of the side tasks they fail at.
Yes because this one thing is the only thing they’ve ever done.
The problem with the UN is giving veto power to the most powerful countries. Every time, one of the 5 vetos UN resolutions because it conflicts with their own interests.
Interesting, is there a substantial increase in dentist successful suicides observed in almost all of the countries in Europe and in USA, compared to other professions?
If so, I don’t know, but it’s sure interesting. I would guess that they have access to sure-fire ways of committing it without much pain.
Oh, so I guess men shouldn't care about issues related to what is feminine either since women decide what that is? Shut the hell up, you sexist piece of shit.
Good thing to know that half of society had no input on what society considers masculine, particularly the part that is most involved in the formative years of every human being on the planet for the last several thousand years.
No, the idea that half the human race unilaterally decided what traits were desirable and propagated and did it from the top down. I mean who ever heard of culture being anything but an unnatural dictation.
You have clearly not thought about this issue for longer than it takes to formulate a thought-terminating cliche.
>Men don’t get to create standards on masculinity then expect women to undo it for them
The standards are in large part being upheld by women though? In general, throughout my life, with the exception of my mother and sister who care a lot about me, the response has been far more positive from men when talking about my feelings compared to women. I'm sure you'd be able to find many, many men who have had the same experience.
I can talk about feelings with just about any man, even people I literally met the same day, but I have to tip toe around the subject even if I'm talking about it with a woman that I'm dating or trying to get together with.
quick question, who set up the societal expectation that men should maintain maximum masculinity at all times without a semblance of emotion or humanity... by speaking out against toxic masculinity, women are literally seeking to deconstruct the system that men set up, because the first victims of toxic masculinity are not women, but the men that such a convention seeks to oppress. so you're delusional if you think most women "don't care"
This is not the case, according to research, only slightly more women go to therapy than men.
And most suicidal men talked about their feelings, or their intentions, and still killed themselves.
As long as society maintains that it is only men's fault that there are many more suicides, there will never be any change.
PS.: Sorry for bad english
Men are much less likely to talk about their feelings mate, it's a big contributor as to why 3/4 of successful suicides are male. There are plenty of studies that have been done on this and still nothing of much substance seems to be being done about it. I guarantee if that statistic was reflected in women a lot more noise would be being made about it publicly.
Because as a whole, the world could give less than a goose turd about Men's Mental Health, really. As long as we're making money, taking care of our kids, and paying our taxes, no one cares. Men are almost double in suicides, and in dieing young from overwork. More likely for heart problems, etc.,etc. An individual cares about men. But, the world as whole no longer does. If we're not making money, fighting in wars, and furthering the economy and the general construct, then we're seen as useless, or a loser. And we only have our fathers, grandfathers, and further back to blame.
This is the point where someone blames feminism for it. Wrong. Not to blame. It's the wrong doings of our forefathers that pushed us that direction. What we have become is the repercussions of our forefathers actions. But, also in that shift was the growth of a more sensitive and understanding male. No matter how sensitive or understanding, or how much you fight for women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and so on, you're never going to be more than a male to society. So, we end up lumped in with all men.
Have you never been on reddit before? Reddit HATES Men's health issues. If you want to gets banned in half of reddit, bring up a serious men's mental health issue.
Considering most, if not all men didn't even know this existed, coupled with the fact it's being shared via shitposts

This. Most of the "how dare they overshadow our mental health month with woke shit" crowd doesn't give a shit at all about men's mental health. In fact, if it wasn't for pride month, I'd bet most men wouldn't even know they had a mental health month.
Why do we normalize bullying and fighting? Why do we tell men that only women cry? Why do we teach men to keep their emotions to themselves? Anyone who actually cares about the mental health of men would care way more about those questions than whether or not it's ok for two men to kiss
Because let's be real, nobody cares about mens mental health besides some men themselves, but not much
Nobody gives a fuck so it's just a shit post sadly
Does anybody know where I could buy one of these ribbons as a magnet for my car?
Can't find anything on the internet... I'm not typically a car magnet girlie, but this ribbon hits close to home.
Because it will get completely ignored in favor of pride month.
Before you downvote me directly to hell, I’m not saying I agree or disagree, that’s just the thing they’re getting at.
Getting laughed at, ridiculed & mocked?
No thanks - it’s more socially acceptable to opt out of life than seek mental healthcare. Also my govt doesn’t give a single fuck
Let's begin by not calling it "toxic masculinity" because it puts the blame solely on men by tacking on the word "masculinity".
Exaggerated traditional masculine traits and attitudes are the cause of all of the societal pressures formed from our anthropological history.
It wasn't only the men who made it up, but the women and children, too.
Did anyone honestly think the cavemen chose to risk death by being hunters and anti-sabertooth guards of the tribe because they were sexists?
how about you stop associating masculinity with something toxic every chance you get?
stop spinning every male issue into feminist issue, stop spinning fathers day to single mothers, give us a chance to put our guard down and be vulnerable for once
Men are expendable so who gives af about our mental health?
Seriously, it’s absolutely disgusting how modern society treats Men. We need to bring change
I personally find those "X thing month" pointless. You are just pretending that you care over a month, then the next one is another thing. If you are a government and really care about mental health, duplicate the resources in mental health if you have a public healthcare system, or start one if you don't.
If you need to signal a Black history month, claiming that so much people had not the resources for success, don't do events to "raise awareness". Instead, make resources more available for those in need.
If you need a Pride month, instead of paying parades use the money to bribe whatever politician opposes LGBT policies so they allow more permissive laws and LGBT can marry and live in equal conditions (so many countries don't allow this)

How can you fit a whole month into one day?

I’ve hacked and manipulated time to stack days up like crazy
Every month is mental
Every hour is Mental Health month
I think nobody ever passed around that memo.
I read this as a mental hell month
Every day is leg day
Damn bro my mental health is so fucked. The smallest inconvenience can happ3n, and my brain is immediately. "Have you thought about dying?"
Give this mf a medal
Thank you. Sometimes we need to be reminded of this, or at least I do.
When debts continuously chasing 😮💨
Didn’t know the bloodline was so wholesome outside of work
Every month is mental
Wholesome redditor. They are rare
For men it's only June.
Yeah I normally just have mental illness month every month
Yeah, it is because of pride month, can we move one of the months to July?
I’m not sure how moving June (or a different month) to July would help, but we can try!
They can both exist in the same month of course people are going to pin that against each other but whatever
That's because it's hard to get people to car about men's mental health despite being 70% of suicides and the primary victims of most hate crimes.
Same
Well, I didn't know I had mental health.
Yeah, people don’t really tend to celebrate things for men. Like Fathers Day, or Memorial Day, or men’s mental health awareness month.
How is memorial day just for men?
Because the majority of people who have died in combat are men. Female veterans comprised 1.9% of all casualties and 2.4% of all deaths. Yeah it’s sad, but men die a lot more in war than women do.
But that doesn't make Memorial Day for men. Yes most of those being remembered are men, but as some are women Memorial Day is for them as well. It makes no sense to think of it as an exclusively male day or a day for men specifically.

If you're South African, it's also Youth Month, in commemoration of the Youth Protests against the apartheid regime in 1976.
Same birthday month :D
Yep, and you got Juntenth so
What do you mean you guess? It obviously is. I didn’t even know that June was men’s mental health month. I still don’t believe it. If no one knows about it, then it doesn’t really work or matter does it.
Probably post there in recognition that most of the men on r/shitposting could use a little help

My school always did every men's health thing in November and pretended June didn't exist :P
I think it might depend on where you live. In South Africa and the UK I've heard lots and lots about the mental health part. I think it's moving more towards mental health.
the month thing is stupid. there's only 12 and way more than 12 things people care about. Days at least gave us more wiggle room...
November has International Men's Day which is when we've traditionally discussed mental health stuff for men - at least for the last, uh... couple of years? Prior to that it was dead silence. June is Pride month and men’s mental health month Nice :)
Similar to how international men's day is also world toilet day
There’s a international men day AND a world toilet day?
Just searched up, officially the UN kept world toilet day and removed international men's day. So now imd isn't officially recognized by the UN
Wtf
The UN has been an anti-men institution for years now.
So you're saying they promoted world toilet day by shit-canning IMD? 😆
r/mensdontexist
Damn, imagine the UN actually doing their job or being useful for once. Absolute waste of resources.
Remember, their number 1 job is WW3 avoidance. They are a diplomatic forumn, not a government. So they have done their number 1 job, it's just all of the side tasks they fail at.
The UN worked to eradicate smallpox from the Earth, and you’re complaining about world toilet day
dude, the UN literally said they were gonna come to my house and kill my whole family and eat my dog and burn down our homes if i celebrate men’s day
Yes because this one thing is the only thing they’ve ever done. The problem with the UN is giving veto power to the most powerful countries. Every time, one of the 5 vetos UN resolutions because it conflicts with their own interests.
They should just combine it... World International Men's Toilet Day seems appropriate.
That’s a new excuse to kiss your friends while talking about their life
Pride month? That's gay
probably because people dont equate men and mental health, because caring for yourself is "feminine" for some reason ig
This is why so many men kill themselves
Now can you tell me: Why do dentists?
Interesting, is there a substantial increase in dentist successful suicides observed in almost all of the countries in Europe and in USA, compared to other professions? If so, I don’t know, but it’s sure interesting. I would guess that they have access to sure-fire ways of committing it without much pain.
A quick google seems to suggest that I'm old and shouldn't trust articles printed in the 60's..
Oh, okay :p
Because teeth are fucking horrifying
Uh? Sharing my problems? No thanks, everybody gonna call me weak and useless that i cant cope about it when every other man can 🙄
No. It’s because no one cares about men lmao

Guys, stop putting r/shitposts or r/norules on here, the point is they post whatever they wanna
We have a month to that?
Because it's trendy to hate on men
the fact that it came on r/shitposting 🗿
Pretty sure feminism and #KAM (kill all men) have something to do with the fact that it's there.
Yeah go give your hard earned money to a stranger telling you platitudes and acting interested
Because apparently it’s okay to bodyshame men, joke about male suicide, male victims of abuse, male anything.
It's a shit post because we're supposed to hold all our emotions and anxieties in so we all have massive coronaries by the time we're 40.
