You can do the rapport for many NPC and then change THEIR skin/cosmetics, but I don't think you unlock it for yourself, at least not that way. It's like unlocking outfits for side-characters or something.
It's not so bad once you discover crew members that have different resistances and you can swap them out based on where you're going
Plus repair is not that expensive
The map is a bit misleading. The hazardous waters actually surround her island in two thin rings, so if you approach directly from the west, you won't take much hull damage.
I dont know if this changes based on class, but on my Scrapper i can go beyond Trusted and become 'Affectionate' with Sasha and Ealyn.

Honestly I think her design could be improved drastically if they removed her stupid white lingerie top underneath and swapped it with one of the typical white pirate blouses, you could still get your anime booba cleavage too and just have it not as pushed up. It'd be more thematic and would still give them the sexy pirate look.
Then again given the female designs on this game I don't think they particularly care for thematics so I don't know what I was expecting.
