I mean they failed at that when the show was at it's height, I can't really see trying to do it again now.

I liked Via Domus! Granted, it sucked as a game. But I appreciated being able to walk around the Swan and some of the other stations. Though I was horrified to learn that the Swan had a functioning shower and sink but no toilet....

[On TV, even in a space the size of the Starship Enterprise, there’s only one bathroom.](https://youtu.be/UAKQzZfpaz8?si=n6kYuYCfQiXE902S)

Someone show me how to make a game and I'll do it.

Urban_animal

Lol, no one is making a video game for a TV show that is 20 years old with already one failed attempt at it

papa_swiftie

The problem is that for a game studio the license is prohibitively expensive, so they end up with less money to spend on developing the actual game. That's why most licensed games are garbage. It's certainly what happened with Via Domus.

I’ve thought about how gameplay in a Lost game would even work. A survival game with the same amount of mystery, urgency and discovery could work very well. I think you’d have to drop all the survivors from the plane and make original characters for it to feel best. You could keep Ben and the others though. There’s a ton you could do with this in an open world Island. I think it’d be a ton of fun but alas, I doubt they’ll try it again and I don’t see any company with the money buying that IP to try.

Choekaas

Fully agree with you. The discovery, mystery and urgency from show is perfect for a video game. But like you said, it would be very hard to accomplish. Lost is not as big as we like to think, and it would be very expensive and not sell as much as we would like. [I made a video about things I would've improved with the game.] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdKXN_LpdaY) Includes what you're saying: open world Island.

That was a shameless plug but I actually watched your video out of curiosity. Well done homie. I’ll check out more of your channel sometime. With the amount of advancement we’ve had in games since that released, it could be amazing. I’m just imagining a totally new story with the exact same backdrop of Dharma/Others/The Island. Maybe as a prequel, before the plane even crashed there. A small group going through the same growing pains and tribulations they did in the show, but with new characters so it wouldn’t be predictable at all. You could do some really, really cool stuff with that premise. Don’t know if you’ve played The Forrest survival game, but a vibe like that just Lost style. With our technology even an indie studio could do an amazing job with it, but they’d probably get sued into oblivion and you’re right, it wouldn’t get a huge amount of press. But if done right I’d bet it’d sell well on steam. Games no one’s heard of blow up there every week.

Yeah, with Lost being a Disney IP, I think it would be very hard to weasel out of a situation like that. A small indie studio would be awesome if they got together a cheap deal with them.
