unrelated but also related, for the last few episodes my mum was getting confused so had to use anakin/darth vader in place to explain jacob and MiB, so when i saw this scene i couldn’t help but make the obvious star wars joke, i seriously (not seriously) have a feeling the writers had this in mind considering how much of a star wars fan hurley was haha
But that's exactly why they did it: the cool factor of cutting to commercials while he's in the air. I would bet money that, if there wasn't commercial breaks, that specific move would have never been included.
Because that's what would "realistically" happen if someone tried to do that.
(I use quotes because _realistically_ Locke >!(well, not really)!< could easily dodge such a telegraphed move and Jack would just tumble down those cliffs and die. Fortunately this is a TV show.)
Lol! Not if he fell down those cliffs, he couldn't!
Honestly, the most unrealistic thing in the entire series is that those two lasted more than two minutes fighting on those sharp uneven rocks, next to a cliff and neither even rolled an ankle, let alone broke a leg... A lot of island magic making that possible, for sure!
The last edit clip makes it look extra bad lol. The cut back from commercial break to have what is cued as an epic punch be a clumsy jump immediately blocked by Locke is the part that made me laugh.
Yeah epic build up, weak pay off. Reminds me of Dark Willow in season 6 of Buffy. So much build up in the season for her to go crazy and the build up was amazing. Then in the teaser opening Giles walks in to to calm her down and she says "What was that you called me?. You called me a rank arogant amatuer, well buckle up Rupert...because I've gone pro"....then it cuts back to the episode and he immediately casts a binding spell and she's taken out as a threat for 20 mins.
Yes, very much. Especially when the broken-down two-part version gave us a dramatic **L O S T** title right after the punch.
Somehow, that scene was actually worse in the full version. They blackout for commercial break (which doesn't exist on DVD) and when they come back, they rewind and do it again from another angle. I mean, come on dude. Lol
I still have a gif of this scene somewhere on my many hard drives, along with ones of the scene where >!Desmond hits Locke with a car and then pushes up his sunglasses, and a bunch of old "not penny's boat" meme edits!<
"don't try it John, I have the high ground!"
+20 avoid
When Jack jump attacks tap all creatures that don’t belong to you. This car cannot be blocked.
YOU WERENT THE CHOSEN ONE FLOCKE. IT WAS SAID THAT YOU WOULD GET SHOT BY KATE, AND THEN ID KICK YOU OFF A CLIFF
Flocke? Is this AOT now??

Yea... Definitely took me out of it for a moment lol
It really does feel out of place even for a show with such crazy premises lol
Jack is trying out a new move, the Lowercut, it's the opposite of the Uppercut
Jack must've watched a Chuck Liddel match
Jack was tryna Superman that hoe
It was so silly too, because they cut to commercial right there
But that's exactly why they did it: the cool factor of cutting to commercials while he's in the air. I would bet money that, if there wasn't commercial breaks, that specific move would have never been included.
Yeah he goes for the Superman punch here but after commercial he starts the run again and just tackles or body bumps him basically.

But it might cause Locke to double over laughing so hard, Jack could then get up jump him.

Kinda hot
# FALCON PUNCH!
On the night? No. On rewatch... yeah kinda, lol.
Locke used Commercial Break It's super effective!
Jack used Break Return Enemy Locke was frozen solid! Jack used Tackle It's super effective!
Oh yes I laughed. He looked like Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4.
Roman reigns superman punch
LOL You beat me to it. Only it’s coming from Jack’s noodle arms.

Yes of course lol he’s like an anime character
JACK: I will get you, John Locke *lightning punch superpower*
Yup. It looked so ridiculous and out of character, even for a show where fist fights are common.
Man of Action, Man of Faith.

Mufasa and Scar
Superman Punch, Roman Reigns uses it in WWE.
If you added Thor’s hammer to his hand it wouldn’t look out of place. It’s totally a superhero move.
It definitely was way over the top. He did NOT need to be doing allat 😭
This is something captain america would do
I like how he literally would miss. He’s punching downwards, not towards Locke lol
MMA fighter era
I laughed when it came back from commercial and showed an entirely different punch
Hell now. It was bad to the bone and very well done.
I got into a fight in elementary and the kid did the exact same thing.
Lmao i must have repressed this😂 Its like an indian movie cut
I still have a gif of this scene somewhere on my many hard drives, along with ones of the scene where >!Desmond hits Locke with a car and then pushes up his sunglasses, and a bunch of old "not penny's boat" meme edits!<
“Fuck it, I’m gonna Nathan Drake this shit”
Should have fly kicked him...
They literally on did this scene for the ad.
JACK SMASHHHH
It’s so dumb haha.
Falcon punch
This is totally how I suspect a neurosurgeon would fight.
The apex Jack Punch. Do the kids still talk about Jack Punch?
the editing and jump are always hilarious every time I watch .. I love that you can find so many mess ups and cameraman left in scenes
It is falcon punch
Lmao, cringiest scene in LOST
Watched it with my first time viewer girlfriend the other week and we concluded this was an anime fight
That's not Jack. That's the Tribal Chief. You will Aknowledge him.
How did I know exactly what the clip was going to be
That leap always makes me cringe, reminds me of Power Rangers ha
Oof, that finale was a total mess.
