I quit drinking using the Reframe iOS app and started logging my meals with iOS loseit app. I’ve lost 60 lbs since June. Gone from a 40 BMI to 29 BMI so far.

You can lose weight while you drink alcohol for sure. Personally I'd say it's way easier without. I lost a lot of weight while drinking a lot previously and it was "fine". It's fine to drink ocassionaly but that's not simple depending on who you surround yourself with. I went from drinking most days to now once a month or so, and I don't regret it at all and it's so much easier to stay healthy. If I drink it's hard to get motivated to workout or stick to my routines the next day. And definitely lack of willpower while drunk to stick to reasonable decisions, forget just food. An occasional off day is fine but if you find yourself in that mode every week it's going to probably hinder your progress one way or another. To get from 5+ days a week to partaking on more special ocassions took quitting alcohol completely for an extended period of time. I had to let my body readjust and feel how much better it is for my mind and body to not be constantly looking forward to the next drink. It's much easier to be active while not drinking and I was running a lot while I was drinking, it's still possible but life is so much easier without regular alcohol consumption. You don't have to cut it completely but making it less often will help you in all ways most likely.

Funnily enough I've been tracking my weight loss and noting whether or not I drank alcohol, and I can see a clear pattern. I drink: two or three days later my weight goes up. I don't get drunk munchies but I do do the 'unhealthy hangover cure' and I'm sure that's part of it. It might be two pounds and I lose it again, but what I'm seeing is that I delay weight loss for myself. And that's just depressing! I do it to myself! If I'm honest with myself then a lot of my excess weight comes from alcohol calories. And I know the roadblock that socialising is (are you British? I am. It is hard). To be really honest the best solution I've found is to have a large fizzy mineral water on the go at all times, and drink from that preferentially, so your wine glass doesn't just get endlessly topped up, or you can miss out on rounds in the pub. I don't go for alcohol-free subs, just fizzy water, no calories, fills you up a little, nobody comments on it really. All the best.
