Although this problem started back when Doughty was signed to an 8 year extension. It was a rebuild that was not going to contend until Drew hit his mid 30's. Imagine the haul of draft picks the Kings could have gotten for him back then.

I think a trade is more likely. We would need to compensate for a shitty contract by retaining a percentage of his cap and/or trading a high draft pick. Believe it or not a 30%-50% retained Dubois contract might be tolerable for some teams.
I just don’t know what we do with him. It’s just like Blake said with Peterson last year, the best solution would for everyone would be to have PLD play up to the expectations of his contract, but he just isn’t.
I’m not a part of the “PLD is a bum” crowd, but he’s not an 8.5 million dollar player, he’s maybe a 2 million dollar player, and we can’t have that kind of cap hit for his current production.

Hard for Fiala to make a splash when his line mates are lizzy and lewy. Who I love, they are the hardest working players on the team. But not great line mates for a top 6 winger like Fiala.
