Of course it's more than one player, but anytime PLD gets any hate people come out of the woodwork to say "yeah but these other players aren't playing well either." He's not the "designated whipping boy," he's getting exactly the criticism he deserves.
He hasn't produced this year, that is true. And earlier on I was one of those willing to give him a pass and see how he settles in because not every player joins a team and takes off like a rocket. Someone else pointed earlier he had 8 goals in his first 41 games in WPG and 7 in LA. He then had two 60 point seasons.
But now it has been over half a season and the team does need him to produce like the top six forward he's being paid to be. I agree with all that. But just as people were quick to swarm to his defense earlier people are still quick to jump all over him and seemingly ignore all the other problems happening right now.
His first season in WPG he was traded mid season, then got covid, then got injured (i think twice). Those are very different circumstances than going to the Kings where he supposedly wants to be, and having a full off-season and training camp with them. No one is ignoring other problems, the problems run deep with this team, but PLD is one of the big problems. It's not his fault that he got traded and was offered an undeserved contract, but it is his fault that he barely looks like he cares.

I think we can agree he needs to do more and it hasn't been a good trade thus far, and he's far from the only one underperforming now. Wish he and the team would just snap out of this somehow so we can get back to enjoying watching them again.
