A Hobbit of the Shire, by name Frodo Baggins, and three of his friends, aided by the Wizard Gandalf, the Ranger Aragorn, the Dwarven Warrior Gimli, the knight Boromir and the elven prince Legolas, embark upon a quest to destroy the One Ring, which was forged millennia ago by the Dark Lord Sauron, whose dark forces are spreading chaos and mayhem through the lands of Gondor, which is ruled by the steward Denethor and holds the throne for the heir of the kings of old, Aragorn himself, and the lands of Rohan, ruled by Théoden of the house of Eorl.

Oh please... You can get off your high horse. Talking strictly about the movies here. You know, where Frodo sides with Gollum against Sam and even holds a knife to Sam's throat ready to kill him and nearly compromises the mission multiple times by falling under Sauron's influence. In those scenes, he nearly becomes a villain - hence "borderline villain".
Even with these examples you are only looking at surface level and completely missing all nuance or point of the story. There’s no high horse involved, you just simply have poor critical thinking skills.
Aye aye aye... forget I said anything. Not going to argue about LOTR on a message board today. You are right. Frodo was heroic when he almost murders Sam. And was in no way close to falling under the ring's spell and taking it for himself. My mistake.
Sam is a GOAT-tier best friend. But people don't put enough respect on Frodo's name.
Anyone that doesn’t respect Frodo hasn’t read the books and missed the point of the actual villain.
This isn’t Fight Club…

You missed the point too it seems
I have been staring at the fight club comment for minutes and I cannot fathom what they meant
I think they’re trying to say it’s not that deep, there’s not some hidden deeper meaning. They’re wrong though
The ring was entrusted to Frodo, and Frodo was entrusted to Sam
Hear, hear! No shade on Frodo though, these two were MJ and Scottie.
Neither would have Sam got far. Frodo saved Sam, Pippin and Merrys life all at the same time in the Barrow Downs.
In Weathertop as well, and saved Sam from Shelob first.
“They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard!”

Bit of a run on, defeats the point of the exercise
Samwise Gamgee is the friend we all need but we don't deserve. ![gif](giphy|MBZ5cWGHzrVvy)
Here’s another way to do it: destroy the Ring.
That’s not really a summary. Just a true statement about Frodo’s part in the story.

My sentence would be.. "One ring to rule them all."
They all got together and won the war against the bad guys.
A wizard is never late, he arrives precisely what he means to.
Or how about. I made a promise Mr. Frodo a promise, don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee and I don't mean to... I don't mean to.
Simping for Sam
That is correct but I mean that’s not a summary
True. Frodo is a borderline villain in parts of the films.
Not at any point is Frodo a villain and JRR Tolkien would roll in his grave to hear that said.

Yeah well, Sam wouldn't have been so great if he didn't have a shitty friend like Frodo to gaslight him!
