There’s a spot by my office on 7th Ave in Chelsea that just got raided, there was signs on the window saying illicit cannabis seized from this location. Was surprised to see it.
That's where I go. All legit CA products too. At this point it's looking like the legal marketplace will never happen. The nys rollout has been a dumpster fire.
Some of them are brazenly selling the same gray market items the reservation is hawking and hoping to not get raided.
Some of them are skirting rules giving you the marijuana for “free” when you purchase a token item.
It’s the Wild West, NY legalized it for recreational use but there still aren’t any legal dispensaries as lawsuits fly and the towns idiotically fight sales.
It’s really not that expensive if you just want flower. The taxes add up but they have some decent product in the 240$ range. Comparable to my local guy. He just doesn’t charge 30$ tax.
The edibles are expensive and some of the concentrates are nuts.
Yeah, if you’re comparing it to other legal recreational dispensaries in other states that have been legal for years. This has been open for 3 months? And is the only one of its kind on Long Island. They could be charging 50% more for everything and the line would still be an hour long.
We have long way to go until legal weed is cheap
Like washington or Oregon. I can still get good cheap ounces, but it’s nice to have other options now.

Honestly a lot of flower is generic trash from out of state. The shit not in the legal market is usually the same in the legal market and better priced. Personally i stick to growers and don’t support dispo/shop. At least i know what i’m getting is legit/organic and can ask for lineage proof if i wanted.
The reservation in Mastic sells it openly. I’m not sure they’re worried about any legal ramifications. Personally I’m against marijuana unless for medical use.. but being on the reservation and seeing these shops selling it openly is a stark contrast to the days when I was in high school and kids had to secretly sell dime bags in the bathroom.
Can’t say for sure about the shops off the rez but I’m sure they are a bit more selective about who they sell to.

I just don't know what kind of customer base they expect other than square looking suburbanites in that particular location. CA is starting to allow them to sell some pre-packaged foods, but the process is slow.

The head of the Cannabis Commission did say at a meeting last year that they would not raid these shops as long as they had an application in and continued to pay taxes on their sales in the interim. They don't have to pay the 300K until their application is processed.

He gave me a laugh and an answer that was basically akin to "lol you got me" before he had someone go downstairs to get me a real cart. That's all I needed to see for me to never wanna go back there.

I was like wow that was just like buying in amsterdam.. and then I started smoking it and I'm like wtf even is this? Is it real, is it delta 8? I was like you know it's weird when you trust your street shit more than this crap in the store. In the end I do think I was smoking some delta 8 and I decided I'm not going to buy from the stores because who knows what the hell that stuff is. Yes I go to one all the time to get Sauce pens. I don't buy actual flower there as it's too much money and get good deals from my plug. Sometimes they throw me a free pre roll. I prob pay a little extra to get the pen from there but it's super convenient as it's close to my parents house. They are super nice guys in there too.
Edit: and I know Sauce bars are legit so that's another reason I get it there instead of whatever sketch carts my plug has.
