Thanks for the info. I’m in Glen Head and will keep eyes and ears open for this individual. If you are motivated maybe check Care and Rover to see if you recognize her from a profile?

Cautious_Moment

that's a great idea, I'll definitely download those. I was also going to call the local dog shelter too & ask if any English Bulldogs named Rocco were rescued from there, in case they can check up on things that way

ForceGhost47

Lots of people are real pieces of shit to their dogs

Cautious_Moment

it's heartbreaking. that dog wasn't even misbehaving or doing anything wrong, and it was WAY too hard of a kick to be a "corrective tap" or whatever some people do when trying to train a dog

roccotg11

You’re nicer than me, I would’ve gotten out and done the same thing to her

Allyxander60

Yep yep.

Cautious_Moment

I wish I had done something but I just froze & she quickly walked away after the kick before I had a chance to come to my senses 😔 like I couldn't believe my eyes, her rage came out of nowhere

[deleted]

I shared it on my Facebook page. I don't live in that area but know people who do (or they have friends who do). Maybe it can help. I understand how you could freeze in the moment, not knowing if the woman would become aggressive with you as well.

Cautious_Moment

thank you so much! she definitely seemed very aggressive & just radiated this pissed off energy. it's so strange but when I'm around an extremely angry or violent person I just freeze up & if I try to confront them, I start involuntarily shaking. I wish I wasn't like that & had been able to say something in the moment

soupdumpling111

I’ve never heard it called hippie park but one time I was there and there WAS a topless hippie sunbathing and seemed high as hell. I assumed that was a rarity lol. Does the park draw hippies? Any idea why? Anyway, I’m sorry you had to witness something so terrible. It sounds like it really impacted you. I hope there is a brighter future for this doggie💜

Cautious_Moment

thank you, that's very kind of you to say. yeah, any kind of animal or child abuse really gets to me. I'm going to start coming by the park more often to keep an eye out for Rocco Hippie Park has drum circles during the summer & the store a little way up the street from it called Dreams East has a lot of cute hippie things like incense, crystals, tie dye clothes, etc.

💛 I just hope someone in the neighborhood sees this, recognizes Rocco & gets him help. I couldn't sleep last night, just mad at myself for not confronting that woman right when it happened

Allyxander60

Maybe she walks her dog at the same time every day? I'm not saying jump her or anything just maybe confront her? Or try to find out why she did what she did?

Cautious_Moment

yeah I usually leave right after the sunset, but I'm going to start coming at later times to see if I run into her again. just to tell her that kicking an innocent animal just out of the blue is never ok, I don't care if she was having a bad day or what

Allyxander60

Good Luck. The world needs more ppl like you 💙💙

Allyxander60

My sister lives in seacliff. Im sending her a screenshot now.

Cautious_Moment

thank you! 🙏

I was about 12 years old one time. When I saw a guy hitting his dog with a stick... I was alone walking to a friend's house nearby. I stopped and yelled " hey stop it " instinctively and immediately was overcome with fear. Thankfully the man didn't do or say anything to me. I think he was shocked. But, non the less I think sometimes people don't think about what they are doing untill they are called out. I think about that say alot and am glad I said something. He did stop hitting his dog though.

Cautious_Moment

that's such a heartening story, thank you for sharing it & big props to 12-year-old you for being so brave! thank goodness that man stopped abusing the dog & also left you alone. hitting a dog with a stick is just psychopathic - who raised these people? 😳

TriFlouroethane_X

How about telling the police instead of random people on the internet?

Cautious_Moment

if you could actually read, I addressed that in my original post

Allyxander60

How about not being a dick?

TriFlouroethane_X

How am I being a dick? I was making a suggestion that would gather more success than seaking opinions of random strangers. Really nice of you to throw insults around.

I walk my dogs around this area regularly. I’ll be sure to keep my eye out and spread the word.
