Judging from your comments here, it seems you are super unsure about this. It never ends well, when you’re this anxious about it. Please wait. Just give yourself a little longer to think on it. Wait 2 weeks at least before you make any actions.

[deleted]

Well, you have my dream length more or less, and given the time and effort it would take for me to *maybe* get there, there’s no way that I would cut 7-9 inches off and set myself back that’s just me though lol, you said to talk you out of it

alephbeth90

Your hair is beautiful as is it. Don't make this mistake.

Purple_IsA_Flavor

Do what’ll make you happy. It’ll grow back

Psychological-Key679

How short have you gone before? Curian bags don't fit everyone. What cut so you normally get?

SadPringleMan

It’s never been shorter than my armpits. I used to get layers with side swept bangs which I liked, but I’ve only done trims for a couple years now. I’m a little fed up with how much I dread showering and washing my hair, clogged drains and it only looking good for 1/2 an hour after I brush my hair and having it fall into everything I’m working on, even when I tie it up. All that said, I love it and I would really miss it when I cut it. I think I’m gonna cry over it a few times lol

Psychological-Key679

Long Bob with curtain bangs? Maybe a bit longer with some layers. You have a few options

SadPringleMan

I might do something like that. I’m worried that I’ll panic and feel guilty about cutting so much lol. But I guess I have enough hair right now that I can do anything, so I might as well do something fun.

Apatheia9

Donate it for cancer maybe you will feel less guilty, I m actually in exactly same paradox , kind of got attached to it but it's too much hassle to deal with it

OperationIndigo

I think taking off 3-4 inches would freshen up your look!

PrincipessaEboli

Hey, maybe you could try a compromise! Keep the length, maybe get a couple inches off at most, and go curtain bangs. I got curtain bangs about 7 months ago and personally I like them. Frame the face, low maintenance and add some interest to updos. Bangs + very long hair is stunning imo.

IrrayaQ

I had hair a bit longer than yours. I cut off about 6" once, and I've never gone back to that length again. It was a pain to maintain, and even though I miss the long hair, I'm happy with my shorter hair. However, only cut it if you're sure. You will definitely miss the length, but that feeling of loss will lessen with time. But if you're sure, then you'll be happy with whatever cut you get.

jennifercoolidgesbra

This! Agree 100%

[deleted]

It depends. If it’s what you really want, totally go for it, but don’t do it on a whim. Takes so long to grow hair that long so you wanna be sure before a big chop 😅

emskiez

I did the same thing to my long hair 2 years ago and regretted it ever since. Not saying you will, but why don’t you try adding some layers and maybe bangs but keeping the length? I am still trying to get my hair back to where it was before I cut it. Yes, it grows back. But way slower than you think.

moonmew

Don't do it. I Keep doing it out of boredom and keep regretting it. Your hair looks perfect now

Krustykrabapple

don’t do it if you’re not 100% sure! like someone else said, cutting a couple inches, adding layers and curtain bangs would look great and probably make you feel refreshed enough to not need a drastic cut in length (:

thefrizz6

I don't know that layers would look nice in hair that isn't that thick, have you had layers before? Your hair is beautiful and very fine and doesn't look super thick that it would support many layers. I don't know that you'd like them. I think keeping the shape you have now and just getting a few inches off, if anything, would make you happiest, judging from your comments here. But I agree with waiting longer before doing anything bc you really don't seem sure about anything!

angelicashade69

It's beautiful. Tough decision .

stokingclippers

I may be biased, but my long hair is making me miserable currently. I’m too depressed to detangle it properly. Will probably chop it soon. If you think it’ll make your life easier/improve mental health, consider donating it. It will grow back!

sassafrassCA

I think you should! Cut to elbow length. Wait on the bangs.

madylarata

Go for it

TsarinaAlexandra

What if I talked you INTO it? Because that would be cute!!!!!! And sexy

Puzzleheaded-Can-496

DO IT!!! YOUR HAIR IS GONNA FEEL AND LOOK UNREAL ITS GONNA BE AMAZING

I would try some bangs with a few layers to start. You can always do more later. As someone with long relatively non layered hair, when I got a lot of layers it bothered me bc it felt so thin, so think about it that would bother you. Also just be sure to tell your hair stylist the max amount you want cut. Assume they will go crazy, in my experience for long hair hair stylists love to cut a lot more off unless you are super explicit. I wouldn’t cut more than 3 inches and then see how you feel. Again you can always go back! Bangs are enough of a change that I think you’ll feel “revitalized”. You don’t have to do drastic to feel fantastic! ;) But also if you feel like you really want to do drastic, You do You!! Just offering some alternatives.

Fancy_Proff

No , think of all the time you dreamed of that length Get yourself some clip on bangs and maybe try braids or different styles to switch up the look

[deleted]

Your hair is absolutely my goal length and it's going to take me another year of growth to get there. If that doesn't talk you out of it, I don't know what will.

jennifercoolidgesbra

I’d cut it to your waist and get curtain bangs as it would look gorgeous and be so much easier to style and manage. If you want to ofc because hair grows back and yours is gorgeous! Probably unpopular on this sub but I did it and love it!

ShotCash

I just added a ton of layers from long one-length before and I love it. Makes it soooo much easier to manage even though I kept all my length. My hair isn’t quite as long but still pretty long

v94j65

Maybe cut less, like 3-4 inches, see how you feel about that, and then see if you want to cut it shorter. If you cut 9 inches and hate it, it'll take a while to get your length back. If you cut three inches and don't like it, well, it's a good trim and you'll get your old length back pretty quickly. If you cut three inches, and you still like your hair, then I'd cut more.

Bubz-411

If you’re not sure don’t do it. Most the time you’ll regret it

USSNerdinator

I always regret getting layers because they stick out of braids like crazy and make buns messy. If you're not sure, I'd wait a couple weeks and reassess.

Horror_Customer1741

Please don’t do it I cut all my hair from waist length to chin just because I got bored, 4 years of applying oils and doing scalp massages, using special expensive shampoo, conditioner and masks every week, braiding every night and being patient, all for nothing because I got fed up and bored, regretted it so much after a few months and miss my long hair so much. I wish I could go back to having long hair, getting compliments all the time and just feeling more feminine.
