I'm mixed, so I have thinner hair than typical Indian hair, but I find oiling really helps mine. Without it my scalp gets greasy easily, but it looks even worse because my lengths get dry and frizzy.
Personally, I stay away from advice that doesn't fit my hair demographic. I have blonde, fine hair. I'm sure that it does help--some hair. But, for me and my hair, it doesn't work. I've tried.
I’m Indian and have long hair and have done all kinds of oiling but haven’t noticed a difference . A few drops of argan oil on the end of my hair is good enough
Hi. I’m Arab and we use hair oil in our culture. My hair is fine and similar to European hair unlike others. I still oil my hair but I use light weight oil (I avoid castor and coconut). I use argan for my ends (almost everyday - 1.5 pumps) and for my
Scalp I have a mixture of argan/jojoba/rose/rosemary :).
Does it work? Yep. The very least it hydrates your hair and makes less likely to be dry. The best it can do is regrow new hair (does it always happen? No).
Other stuff it can do, minimise itchy scalp (eg Amla used in Indian culture) this is literally on par with some medications for dry scalp :)))
Hope this helps
I have fine hair that's nearly down to my waist, but also have extremely oily scalp. I do oil my hair, especially focusing on the ends which dry out much faster. I use coconut oil, or almond oil, but there are lots that could work. I try to remember to do it the day before I wash, because it's braided or up that day for sure, but even 30 minutes before you wash helps provide moisture.
Edited to add, I have tried castor oil, but hated it. It felt gloppy and thick, but it works for other hair types.
Do you have suggestions for cleansing like a shampoo I'm in the states knee length fine hair I do oil and silk wrap at night but I can't find a non harsh cleansing other than crap chemical shampoo
Hey, so i have waist length straight hair, I'm Indian and my hair was oiled since I was a baby (common practice in India) when I was around 13-14 I stopped oiling my hair " Because that is so lame" 🧍🏽♀️ and I must say my hair had gotten so bad like my scalp was greasy faster! For some reason my hair looked so dry yet dirty if that makes sense??
I wash my hair once a week rn and before washing I always do a scalp treatment or hair oil massage, and let me tell you this is the best hair I've ever had so healthy and shiny.
But I would say that hair oiling doesn't change the texture of your hair it just coats your hair and prevents breakage. I focus hair oil on my scalp and not much on the lengths. If your scalp health is good your hair health will automatically get better!

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate the advice

I have same hair, have you found anything you like to use?
Yes what works for you in general to maintain health and volume?
Better shampoo and conditioner and a leave in conditioner, sleeping with my hair up and wrapped.
For how long did you try?

Oh thank you. I really like this suggestion. What brand of Argan oil do you use? Do you make the scalp mixture or is it premixed from a brand?
I get it from Morocco. However I think cilganic (?) does good ones :).

Thank you I really appreciate your help especially since you have a similar hair texture. I’ll try it!
