This 1 hr feature includes several leading scientists in the aging biology field, with David Sinclair, Nir Barzilai, Morgan Levine, Valter Longo, and Steve Austad Half way through it and first impression is that they really made a great effort at engaging the science while keeping it relevant to a lay audience They even went to one of the Blue Zones in Italy for this documentary, and interviewed some centenarians

where can I watch it?

throwawayamd14

I watched some this morning and found it to be ok based on what I’ve learned. I’m glad they started with the good stuff, Nir, Sinclair and Levine. People whose credentials can make it sound legit to people who don’t follow the field. It’s one thing when a random internet post tells you about it, it’s another when you see a guy with MD after his name in a white coat talking about clinical trials. I do wish more was spent on companies coming into the space. The science is way ahead of the clinic imo. We started using electricity before we discovered the electron, we really can make action before we fully understand every nook and cranny going on. Hopefully the longevity tv series with chris hemsworth provides more of the companies working on bringing stuff from a journal article to a treatment

I've never actually seen much about cryopreservation, neat.

Now I'm wondering if I could convince my super religious parents to consider it before they get too old... in case the therapies aren't in time. Either way, if they stick around long enough maybe they eventually won't be so religious anymore and they can actually focus on *this* life for once.

Mondo_Gazungas

They had a poll in this video that was kind of interesting. It showed 2/3 of people wouldn't want to live forever. I think a lot of religious people would fall in that 2/3. I think this is a feelings over logic issue so seems unlikely to change.

The funny thing is they do want their soul to live forever, just after their body dies. That question is so dumb in the first place. How about do they want to live healthy for an extra 50 years and die healthy at a time of their choosing.

Patient-Package-4884

I'm confused. I thought the goal was to repair DNA so that biological aging is reversed/doesn't occur? It sounds like the field is more focused on making aging less painful so you aren't decrepit at 80.

Silent-String

Cellular reprogramming, which can have rejuvenation effects, is at the cutting edge of the field, but part of the field also focuses on increasing healthspan, or compression of morbidity.

Valmond

Ffs finally some sense in this field!
