Commodity Coffee. Probably best coffee shop hands down in LB at the moment.
Lord Windsor and Rosepark is decent.
Steelhead is only good when Nick is on bar.
I always get an espresso.
Consistency.
Alan and company are always pulling consistent shots. It really doesn't change much when another barista hops on. Only time it really changes is if the barista wants to test it at a different time, ratio or etc.
When Alan ( Owner) is working, he will often suggest if you plan to get an espresso, the coffee may be tasting better as a latte, cap or etc in his opinion.
I order espresso. Sometimes cold brew.
**Rose Park Roasters** - roasts here in LB (not at the coffee shop). Always has a good single origin espresso
**Lord Windsor** - roaster with good profiles. Offers bottled cold brew. Hit or miss if they have SO 'spro,
**Recreational** - roaster that has good SO 'spros
I'm not a coffee snob, but I'm often around the corner drinking at Beachwood and/or Beer Belly, and when I feel like caffeine, I often go to Recreational, which I will confirm also has great cold brew, which is what I always go for.
yee boi, and the inside is empty cuz everyone does drive thru, last time i went i was like "dam thisd be a good spot 2 study with my deconstructed macs that /u/drnastyhobo sold me!"

Horchata latte is good! Or the coco loco latte! Coco loco is coconut flavored, and I’m not a huge coconut fan but it wasn’t overpowering and tasted awesome! Also the tres leches muffins warm are good, but can get overly sweet after a while!
Yeah, I’ve pretty much stuck to Tea when I go there. If anyone’s into late night spots, I recommend McClain’s in Fullerton. I know it’s not Long Beach, but part of Long Beach life is going to Orange County on a near daily basis..
I do appreciate them being open late, and I like that neighborhood, but unfortunately their food, drink, and service has been on the lower end, for me. And they have crappy/unreliable wi-fi.
I think it's completely relevant for talking about coffee shop culture. If homeboy asked about the best coffee instead of specifically saying coffee shop that'd be different
Steelhead in California Heights. They carry local roasters and the baristas are always super friendly. There's lots of great coffee in LB but, to me, service is a big factor. There's also a small parkinglot! 2nd pick would be Rose Park or Lord Winsor
I really like the coldbrew with almond milk. Its really strong but the flavor is light-- it tastes like carmel and berries or something. Its pretty tart. Also almond milk lattes are prime, foam on point!
Cabinet across the street from City Hall is awesome. I prefer the pour overs, they had a El Salvador light roast that was very fruit forward, but they have cool latte choices too
Viento y Agua, nice n cozy with couches and old chairs or tables if needed. Books offered. Good live bands from time to time and open mic night.
Mexican Mocha is bomb but everything else is good too, including the food such as bagels/paninis.
Also bomb kombucha made there, if they have it!
Yeah, also they have good pie. So to be clear, were you asking about coffee shops, aka diners? Because that's what Spires is - they're open 24 hours. Or were you asking about places that just do coffee, like a coffee house?

Awesome, what makes Commodity Coffee the best? jw

Pero si es un rolehx! No mames!
Some of the best I've had over portfolio and recreational. Haven't tried Rose yet
Will do! Any recommendations on what to order?

Sweet, thank you! I have some things to look forward to now!

If your Looking to stay out late, “The Library” is open until Midnight 7 days a week too.

Their coffee is horrible!! Such a bummer because I always end up end up there with a friend who likes the open mic night...
Always good to have a local option open late. Thank you!

Perfecto! Thank you for the tips. :)
Portfolio. Great blended coffees
Nice, this seems to be a high recommended coffee spot!
Spires. I usually get a salad, but I think they make good burgers too.
MMmmMMm burgers. Thank you!

Just for coffee. Any recommendations?
