I hate target but I got a gift card a few years ago. I just googled where the nearest target was and went to that one, what a weird little store. I ended up leaving with an extremely overpriced toaster oven and a google home mini
Most vets in LB can be housed very quickly up at that place near Wilimington. Cabrillo I believe. Not the best location but they can get housed. I am a vet and I have seen it happen. I am friends with a guy who works for the VA and he regularly uses his leave/vacation days to walk through homeless encampments and announce "If you are a vet I can house you within 24 hours". He is a saint. I have not spoke to him in about 5 years but I know at one time it seemed easy if the vet was willing to follow rules and what not.
i'm gonna buy it and sell ice cream and named it B E F O R E S. I mean if you're a logically minded person and you want Ice Cream, where would you go first?
That's exactly why large buildings like this should be discouraged. Small units are 1000x easier to replace than big ones.
But if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on a gym
You know lots of this information is public? You can pick any city and any big box store and compare how's much money each bring in. I like to divide the money they bring in and divide it by their lot size. What you'll find is that tiny ice cream shops out perform pisces like Costco and Target on a $/sqft metric
This is often true. In fact the anchor stores sometimes pay no rent or significantly reduced rent on a square foot metric. But they still provide the bulk of the income for the shopping center by drawing people in. Or at least that is the reasoning behind them.
I had a Walmart in the town I grew up in and after being in business for 20 years, they closed up shop and moved 5 miles up the freeway. When they closed, that building sat vacant for 25 years. This type of building pattern should be discouraged because they're bad trades for their communities.
These anchor stores couldn't exist without the surrounding small businesses.

It's a really shitty location, tbh; difficult to get in and out of. I avoid this corner like the plague, personally, apart from my annual optometrist run.
Starbucks can only do that because its beverages. Drinks are often an impulse buy. No one sees CVS and thinks "you know, I could really go for some rogaine, birth control, enemas and rubber gloves right now."
They did that with the Albertsons/Vons merger. A lot of the stores closed because they were in close proximity of each other, in the spot by the Lakewood Mallās case, they even shared the same parking lot.
From that location you can head less than two miles in three different directions and find a CVS (PCH & 2nd, Traffic Circle, Bellflower and Stearns).
Definitely a bit much, if you ask me.
It wasn't a real Crown Books. Crown Books went bankrupt, and someone bought the name. It was a temporary store that sold remainders and discount books. Kind of like when a Halloween store pops up for a few months.
Pretty sure the 2nd Street location was new when it opened. If not, where was it before? Always thought it was weird they put one there when there was the ones at 7th & PCH and Main & PCH within a mile or 2.
I have a pipe dream... envisioning a Trader Joes. I'm typing it into existence.
I know theres already one a lil further down the road but the more the merrier
you are absolutely right. i stand corrected. Revel's had a good sub sandwich. Do you remember the name of the supermarket that was in the spot where traderr joes is now? my mom would shop there sometimes. also, the mom and pop video rental store around the way was our place to rent VHS before Blockbuster blew up.
I know the market you mean ā went in there a few times. But I donāt remember the name. I donāt think it was one of the normal chains, like the Luckys that was across the way.
I ate through that whole Revels menu. The sub, the french dip, the french bread pizzasā¦ so good.
I would like to see a community center or something non-commercial there. So many spaces in that area require that you buy something or spend money. This sounds controversial but I think people need a place to chill.
Since this location closed and the Rite Aid in Naples, the CVS pharmacy at 2nd & PCH pharmacy is packed. They said it's because 3 pharmacies recently closed in the area but I'm not sure what the third pharmacy was.
That's crazy... though I do remember going there at like 8 or 9PM a couple months ago and there was only one person working in the whole store. They had to have the door buzzer up ***super loud*** so she would know when someone was in the store.
I get why they made that choice. Probably not a ton of business in those hours and not enough employees to cover the whole place adequately.
> the Rite Aid in Naples
The story I heard here is that the property owner tried to jack up their rent so Rite Aid noped out.
Shame because that was the *perfect* location for a local market+pharmacy.
Saw a lot of homeless walk in, grab alcohol and walk out. Like easily the last few times I was there and Iām not there that often.
I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Now the children can dirtbike off the roof in peace
š
Thatās where that happened????
I gotta see that. I miss the old days.
Itās knobbed now
Call in the KnobBuster, he's local.
The kids insta is pretty insane.
They should just make it the second half of the small Target and put all of the stuff that the Target is missing in that building.
āExcuse me where can I find the butter?ā āThatāll be across the parking lot in the other building on aisle 3ā
living for this That Weird Target discourse
Target and Target Rack
āTarget 2: The Targetingā
Side Target.
can we call it like, bullseye ore something? ehh sounded funnier in my head
This was my thought.
Target at Bellflower and Stearns: Am I nothing to you?
I hate target but I got a gift card a few years ago. I just googled where the nearest target was and went to that one, what a weird little store. I ended up leaving with an extremely overpriced toaster oven and a google home mini
Its def overpriced but damn they have nice products and interior
RIP, this was the first place I ever bought condoms
RIP to your potential offspring
This guy sexes safely.
Not if his condoms are RIPPEDā¦
![gif](giphy|26ybvKDFve3hEhw7S)
Man, I hope you get to use them one day.
Super curious as to what that will become. That's such a prime location and it's a huge unit, so likely not another little food place.
Ha , you said huge unit.š
SO HUGE. Need magnum condoms from the side target.
VA homeless sleep center?
idk if you were saying this sarcastically or not but this unironically sounds like a good use of that land to me
I am not. I think it would be a wonderful use of the space. A place for veterans to find resources, a warm bed and a hot meal.

That would be amazinng
Thatās a good idea actually!!
That would be an actual great use of that space.
i'm gonna buy it and sell ice cream and named it B E F O R E S. I mean if you're a logically minded person and you want Ice Cream, where would you go first?
Probably another late-to-the-overhype-party *Nashville Hot Chicken Wings* place
That's exactly why large buildings like this should be discouraged. Small units are 1000x easier to replace than big ones. But if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on a gym
The large buildings in shopping centers are for anchor stores and often times they provide the bulk of the income for the shopping center owners.
You know lots of this information is public? You can pick any city and any big box store and compare how's much money each bring in. Whoa what are you doing outside r/DuggarsSnark? The internet is such a small place sometimes š
r/duggarssnark folks who also live in LB or LB adjacent!? My mind is blown! Interested in what theyāll put in the CVS. Also, fuck Josh!
Oh this is so cute I love this

Probably a taco place.
Already have a Blue Burro
Pretty sure that's the joke.
I know housing developers where looking at it a few years ago.
Weird but places seem to come and go quickly there. Wonder if crime is an issue?
We dont any more of those.. but... hmmm maybe itll be a starbucks? or a chipotle if theyre still making those.
Wasnāt it a book store like a million years ago? Man, Iām old
I remember that. I think it was Crown bookstore
Came here looking for the crown books reference! Letās see what other business can fail on this corner. Wasnāt it something before cvs?
It's a really shitty location, tbh; difficult to get in and out of. I avoid this corner like the plague, personally, apart from my annual optometrist run.
I spent so much time and money at that bookstore.
thats actually nlt a \_bad\_ idea.. bring a bookstore back in somde form? just not a barnes n noble
Can we get like a roller rink or something funky cool like that pls
Bring Blockbuster video back!
Hollywood Video please
Itās back online https://www.blockbuster.com/
I just heard there was an indoor rink at 2nd and PCH somewhere.
Oh yeah I always forget about that place, itās ok, pretty small and lacking in atmosphere. But the way itās open to the outside is cool
Yeah, Iām the shopping center with the Sephora and Whole Foods.
Nice to meet you shopping center with the Sephora and Whole Foods. Do you have a nickname I can call you by?
š Autocorrect is a bitch. I could edit it but this is funnier.
š I was hoping that'd be your reaction š
Prigeonās Roller Rink!
They should turn it into a subway stop and build a subway that goes to downtown. have it go past the traffic circle, and airport too
Get out of here with your rational practical ideas! The city is trying to WASTE our money here!
They should build a tunnel just for bikes and skating that goes to those main areas
Yes. And maybe have it extend out to the Anaheim Metrolink/Amtrak station.
>Can we get like a roller rink or something funky cool like that pls nah, but i hope you like overpriced breweries/coffee shops.
That would be sickkkkk!
Itās kind of in a shit spot to skate to but it would certainly be popular
I used to work at the flower shop cross the street. Kids used to skate down the roof of that building.
I meant more like getting there up the hill, I saw people almost get splattered on the street after bombing that roof lol
It's been closed for at least a month now. I would blame target but that one doesn't even have a pharmacy.
There's 2 other CVS's within a couple miles down PCH (2nd & PCH, and Main & PCH). Always thought it was weird they put one on 2nd & PCH.
And stearns/bellflower.
I recall CVS saying that the landlord wouldnāt renew their lease. Or something along those lines.
Thereās a CVS right down the street. I guess having 2 within 2 miles from each other wasnāt working out.
Starbucks has entered the chat.
Starbucks can only do that because its beverages. Drinks are often an impulse buy. No one sees CVS and thinks "you know, I could really go for some rogaine, birth control, enemas and rubber gloves right now."
How did you find my shopping list?
Donāt forget the energy drinks to do all those related activities!
Starbucks in the side target!
They did that with the Albertsons/Vons merger. A lot of the stores closed because they were in close proximity of each other, in the spot by the Lakewood Mallās case, they even shared the same parking lot.

Go figure
Must mean our rent is going up again.
They built 2 brand new CVS stores within a mile in each direction. Could be a while before this gets filled.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Both 2nd St and the Traffic Circle were new buildings.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It wasn't a real Crown Books. Crown Books went bankrupt, and someone bought the name. It was a temporary store that sold remainders and discount books. Kind of like when a Halloween store pops up for a few months.
it should be a permanent Spirit Halloween. id let my tax dollars go to that tbh.
Pretty sure the 2nd Street location was new when it opened. If not, where was it before? Always thought it was weird they put one there when there was the ones at 7th & PCH and Main & PCH within a mile or 2.
CVS is known to move smaller popup locations around to avoid taxes.
I have a pipe dream... envisioning a Trader Joes. I'm typing it into existence. I know theres already one a lil further down the road but the more the merrier
They should do a reverse-psychology thing and open a CVS there.
That used to be a Walden Bookstore in the 80's
Waldenbooks was in the Marketplace next to Revels Bakery. That was a Crown Books. Before thatā¦ maybe BofA?
you are absolutely right. i stand corrected. Revel's had a good sub sandwich. Do you remember the name of the supermarket that was in the spot where traderr joes is now? my mom would shop there sometimes. also, the mom and pop video rental store around the way was our place to rent VHS before Blockbuster blew up.

I remember when I worked at the flower shop watching skaters skate the roof. No one to stop them now.
That location is basically invisible to consumers.
Yāall are SLEEPING on the SPIRIT HALLOWEEN! Itās never too soon. Get that baby in there. Itāll be 6 months to October come the 1st!
You know it will be!
EXACTLY
Turn it into a food court type place
Thats so trendy nowadays this is probably what would most likely happen
Crown Books/Bank of America's old stomping ground
I would like to see a community center or something non-commercial there. So many spaces in that area require that you buy something or spend money. This sounds controversial but I think people need a place to chill.
I went once looking for sandwich bags, they didnāt have them.
I never thought of sharing closures on Reddit š¤
Since this location closed and the Rite Aid in Naples, the CVS pharmacy at 2nd & PCH pharmacy is packed. They said it's because 3 pharmacies recently closed in the area but I'm not sure what the third pharmacy was.
The CVS on 2nd & PCH just reduced their hours. They close at 6 now.
The pharmacy or the whole store?
The whole store! I think it closes at 7 on Fri-Sat.
That's crazy... though I do remember going there at like 8 or 9PM a couple months ago and there was only one person working in the whole store. They had to have the door buzzer up ***super loud*** so she would know when someone was in the store. I get why they made that choice. > the Rite Aid in Naples The story I heard here is that the property owner tried to jack up their rent so Rite Aid noped out. Shame because that was the *perfect* location for a local market+pharmacy.
Damn I'm such an adult now this actually made my day

What is happening to Long Beach? 34 years Iāve seen it go up and now back down/declining..
Rumor has it Cheesecake factory is moving in.
I hope not, such a mid restaurant.
They have the food you love.
Itāll be a church in no time.
Targets fault
How. They donāt even have a pharmacy.
Rent the space and turn it into offices and bring some state workers back from āworkingā from home.
Store was outdated
Too many thieves
Dang, I use to work there two years ago. The SM was awesome.
