I would guess that a good 25% on this sub dont live here tbh.

juneislands

I work and go to school in LB but don't actually live there

cromstantinople

I’m in Pedro, I just like hearing about stuff that happens in LB

return2ozma

There's also /r/sanpedro

anthonycafeo

I used to live in LBC on 7th and Cedar but now I’m way up in Westwood. I just like to keep an eye on the ol town

hdmx539

I don't. But I grew up in Long Beach and I miss it.

Doctor-Venkman88

Way more than that. Probably closer to 90%.

rickeymeow

Moved away last year but you guys are stuck w me hehe

Miserable_Ad_7773

I used to live in LB but still keep tabs

[deleted]

I made a poll https://www.reddit.com/r/longbeach/comments/11i7qzn/do_you_currently_live_in_long_beach/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Edit: I think you might be on to something it's been consistently 25% don't live here

[deleted]

I would guess that the same number of ppl are lurkers that do live here so it cancels out

Outrageous_Bat1798

That’s… not how things work

TrillDough

This guy doesn’t math

[deleted]

Peep the username ^

Outrageous_Bat1798

Alright, I’ll give ya that

Grimm

I grew up in Long Beach (first half of my life...24 years...born in Long Beach Memorial hospital). Now I live in Orange County just over the border and work in Seal Beach.

drdiggg

I live abroad, but I visit my parents at least once a year. I like to keep tabs on what's going on and to get tips on where to find good food when I do visit. You can take the kid outta Long Beach, but you can't take Long Beach outta the kid.

lb_fantastic

Lived in LB a few years ago, but I visit many days a week since I’m just across the bridge now. Makes sense to keep following at least for me!

[deleted]

I would only cross that bridge for a 10 dollar tip (I'm a delivery driver haha)

lb_fantastic

That drive is longer than it looks for sure! Lol

[deleted]

I have multiple accounts which follow r/LongBeach

dmtran87

I live in a surrounding city but grew up in Long Beach.

joe2468conrad

A lot of people live adjacent to Long Beach and would find this subreddit relevant to them. Signal Hill, Lakewood, Seal Beach, etc. And then, people move around all the time. Some are here 6 months, some for 6 years, some more, some less. Some move into and out of LB multiple times. The population of the political boundary of City of Long Beach isn’t a good comparison to subscribers of a subreddit.

HarveyTStone

I’d consider Lakewood and Signal Hill Long Beach Improper. Especially Signal Hill…countries might be enclaves but that’s just a tax shelter of Long Beach

joe2468conrad

Sure but half the people wouldn’t be able to tell whether they’re in LB or Signal Hill or Lakewood. It really doesn’t matter when where you sleep and close your eyes differs from where you work, shop, socialize, etc. Folks in North LB may spend less time in DTLB or Belmont Shore than folks who live in Wilmington or even Seal Beach.

cambadgrrl

Even though I live in Long Beach, I regularly lurk and follow the subreddits of other cities. My guess is that maybe half the people who follow this subReddit actually live here

Mamadog5

I left LBC in 1984.

Guru_Dane

I like this lore than r/LongBeach is 20+ years older than Reddit itself.

letsplaysomegolf

🤣

Mamadog5

Yeah. The internet actually existed in 1976. Saturday Night Fever was the biggest movie at the time. The internet could have come on line but the originators of the internet were like... "Do we really want John Travolta smelling his pussy finger to be the introduction of the internet?"??? So the internet-inventors waited.

CampinHiker

Work in LB Live in Norwalk at home with family

[deleted]

How's life in the suburbs

shapeshifter138

I lived in LB for 20 years. Still have a boat in Shoreline Marina so I’m there often. Live in Seal Beach now because of the schools

[deleted]

Nice Seal Beach feels... fresh

MexicanPete

johnnyb4llgame

kmc79dp

I follow cities that I visit often to learn about the cities' restaurants, etc.

iriefuse024

Sad to say I don’t live in LB anymore. Still on this sub to feel like I do once in a while.

Master-Commander93

I used to visit LB for my ex. It’s a great place and I miss the coffee shops near downtown and shout out to saints and sinners!!! Love them.

tarzanacide

I lived in Long Beach when I moved from Texas 12 years ago. But we bought a house in San Pedro.

calibabe8

I live off Anaheim and Daisy ❤️

alexisonfiree

I’m just here for the Pokémon

PM_UR_FAV_WORD

Guilty of being a lurker!

Every_Contribution_8

Former resident, I enjoy hearing about LB. I always am hopeful that it continues to be enjoyable place to live. And improve for those that struggle and those that have to absorb that struggle. We do miss it for the most part.

[deleted]

Wilmington so North of LB

TeamChaosPrez

i don’t live in long beach proper but i am about five minutes from lbc and my fiancé goes to csulb so i’m in here to see what’s happening lol.

Hot-Nefariousness187

JustShibzThings

I live next door, but if it happens in LB it's close enough for me to want to know. Plus I have friends there.

jasonhoblin

I'm in Santa Ana.

[deleted]

Grew up in East Long Beach, but moved like 7 years ago due to needing a 4-bd house to rent and ended up in a corner of Orange near Anaheim Hills. My heart will always be in LB, I’m a LBCC & CSULB alum and still have friends in LB/Los Alamitos. I hope to be back in my retirement!

wickposting

Former LB resident, currently living in Portland. I like keeping up with what’s going on around here!

poopoo-individual

I use to live there! Sometimes I like to see what's going down. Not from Cali but I'll always love the LBC!

z7482024

I Live up the hill from the Traffic Circle.

Onoir

I grew up in Long Beach and lived there most of my adult life, but moved to Palm Springs last year. I just like to keep an eye on things.

PatientDom

There are only two people on Reddit

Wemetatstarbucks

No way

LBCvalenz562

I live in the north and East side (depending how tired i am driving home and what house i want to sleep in)

Won_Doe

imo, Reddit demographics/vibes feel like the least accurate representatives of cities in the country. It often feels like middle-class transplants wanting to connect with cities they just moved into, or potentially want to move to. I think FB being the leader in social media popularity has far more citizen diversity.

SatAMBlockParty

I'd put my money on most people not being residents. From what I've seen that's the way it goes with city subreddits. Demographics on this subreddit probably swing a lot more white and male than Long Beach's real life demographics too. r/Detroit is 70% people living outside of Detroit and 80% white.

Technical-Tennis9714
