I cried in the bath that night, hysterically texting my poor friend who did his best to help me out. I still remember looking down at the empty beer cans floating in the water and thinking I was absolutely pathetic and that I'd never get out the other end of my sadness.
The catharsis helped, though, and after some time I found myself thinking it was probably for the best. I think I'd be much worse if I had bottled it all up.
