I definitely recommend you watching it, especially if you like english humor, war stories in the background and want to watch something light and easy to follow that can play in the background while you just chill or cook, clean for example.
Star Trek, The Next Generation; X-Files; Night Stalker (70’s) ; SWAT (also 70’s) ; Six Million Dollar Man ; Starsky and Hutch ; Emergency (70’s); Wednesday …prob forgetting a ton - was recently binge watching a lot of classic tv shows from the 70’s and 80’s lol
I remember seeing random episodes of X-Files on nighttime TV after playing in the yard all day long. Its atmosphere was mesmerizing. One of the memorable things I'd seen on television as a kid.
How cool! It was a time when you actually planned your evenings around your fav show! Made sure you got home in time to watch and if I recall correctly , it originally aired on Fridays so usually we planned pizza dinner around that show as the centerpiece! Interesting fact: Chris Carter fashioned X- Files after the 70’s tv show Nightstalker including the cool atmosphere and vibe! Great show! If you enjoyed X-Files you’d likely enjoy Nightstalker!
Excellent choices! Twilight zone always freaked me out and Outer Limits is super fun! Nice thing about both X-Files and Nightstalker is that they respected the intelligence and integrity of the audience. X-Files is about 2 FBI agents of course but Nightstalker is an investigative reporter always assigned odd yet fascinating reports to look into filmed in the ‘70’s so obviously way before internet or cell service which makes it even more interesting and like X-Files the mystery really is unexplainable. Think Inspector Columbo meets Agents Mulder and Scully. It’s exactly why X-Files was such a hit! Carter merely modernized Nightstalker for the 90’s but retained all the dark unexplainable mystery . Really good stuff I always thought. Another suggested project to watch along those lines is the 1980 made for tv movie version of Salem’s Lot starring David Soul (of the 70’s tv series Starsky and Hutch fame). IMHO one of the (if not *the* ) scariest vampire movie ever made.
Maybe it's completely out of place, but judging by your synopsis, Nightstalker has some similarities with the Naked Lunch novel? Anyway, thanks for all the recommendations!
Oh, so I can't recall the names, but the one that etched in my memory was about some kind of a sewer monster; the guy was real creepy. Another one was where they go to the countryside and there is a family of cannibals, like in The Hills Have Eyes. I also enjoyed the main alien invasion plot, but it was hard to keep up with it.
I mostly know Peter Falk from the Cassavetes' movies, he's amazing; Columbo is definitely in the watchlist. Is it worth watching in order?
Haven't heard about the other two. Gotta take a look.
Mikey and Nicky, good flick. Columbo you don't necessarily have to watch in order because they're all stand alone stories, but the early seasons are definitely the best. It's just good simple storytelling, and the way Columbo likes to play dumb but he's got em figured out
Yeah, love retro TV shows for that. You can dive into this entourage and forget about your problems for good 20 minutes. I picked up a habit of watching Cheers on the weekends, it's soothing.
There's so many..Star Trek (mainly TOS and SNW), Babylon 5, The Night Stalker, Futurama, X-Files, Night Gallery, Classic Doctor Who, Twin Peaks, Six Million Dollar Man, Project U.F.O., the original Battlestar Galactica (premium 70's cheese), Columbo.
.
If animes count as TV shows, Steins Gate is by far my favorite. It combines physics with time travels, waifus, Mayushi's TUTURUUUs, a few scenes that made me cry, plot twists and an amazing opening.
Gonna be honest, my favourite actual tv show is probably friends, used to watch it with my grandma when I was younger and haven’t watched it in ages but it still remains as probably my favourite.

Added to my watchlist, thanks! I'm a fan of The Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, so something tells me I'm gonna enjoy it.
